As I wrote I was not happy with the flavor and TH I got from the included (very) spaced 3mm ID Kanthal coil, so I replaced this with my standard MTL coil: 2,5 mm ID, SS 316 CONTACT coil, 9 wraps wicked with KGD cotton and now I got a FLAVOR monster! What a difference!

At first I wanted to take only 5-6 wraps but it´s not very easy to insert smaller coils because of the given distance of the posts, a clear disadvantage of the easy wire fixing mechanism...

Anyone missing flavor may give that a try!

K.
What gauge ss wire you using?

@DragonRon - Condensation would be my guess as well. I did my simple test and the Ares failed. For a test I lay a filled tank on a paper towel for a half an hour or so. The Ares seeped, dime size spot on the paper towel. So the Ares will not be going in my pocket.

Edit: I forgot to mention the seep was from the top of the Ares. I like the ease of filling this tank, but I don't think it seals as well as a regular screw on.

@soulseek - My test is the tank laying on its side, not upside down. It is not unusual for a mod to tilt sideways in a pocket, from my experience. Very few of the tanks I have had pass the test. Pocket safe ones for me are Cubis Pro, Naughty 2 and Berserker. Of course that is just my limited experience with the limited number of tanks I have owned.

Thank's for the clarification. Laying on it's side is a reasonable test that I perform as well. I think even PBusardo did it on occasion. If it turns out that mine does the same I will expect a refund.

This and the Zenith are tanks aimed at attracting newer vapers and leaking on it's side should be a dealbreaker for anyone really but particularly for these people.

It's admirable that Phil tried to come up with a system that keeps you from completely removing the lid. Problem is, with a sliding cap, I believe you just can't get there from here, engineering-wise.

The pressure applied by screwing a cap onto an o-ring can't be replicated with a slider....unless the cap were to slip downward, ramp-like, then snap into place, applying a lot of pressure to the teflon fill thingy (engineering jargon).

And if you supply sufficient pressure to seal it in, say a pocket, with significant temperature and pressure changes, then the slider would create a lot of wear on the seal, meaning durability would be an issue.

But I got a sneak peak at the Innokin engineer team's work on Ares V2. This ought to do it.

I'm glad I waited, from the looks of things the non-RTA tank is looking more favorable (to me) but not going to jump on either one before hearing about both. In this instance, I am rather glad I waited. :(

Wish I had passed, honestly. In my opinion, if you have the Siren 2, berserker, or another favourite MTL tank, the Ares brings nothing new or improved to the table and can be ignored. Just my 2 cents, though.

I have both, am glad I have both, and yes, am glad I waited in this instance.... IDK if seeping problems will be improved on in later iterations of this tank, but I don't need a tank that is DESIGNED to leak/seep, I can do plenty of that on my own, though I will say I've had fantastic non-leaking success with both the berserker and Siren V2 and love BOTH. With that said, I am hoping for something better with the drop-in coils tank, but remain wary given the hype over this one....

Hello.

I'm new to rebuildable-atomizers. Got the Ares, worked great for the first 2 hours or so and then it started gurgling and spitting out of nowhere. I used one of the coils that came with the tank, came at around 1.10. Watched PBussardo's tutorial on building and wicking and I thought everything went great till the gurgling started. Then, I made a spaced coil with the tool provided in the kit, this one came at .97. Rewicked, but still got the same gurgling. 70-30 VG PG, 40-60 VG PG, doesn't matter. As it also doesn't matter what airhole I use. Vaping from 12 to 20 W, same thing. As I didn't see anyone complaining about these, I guess is my fault, but I don't realise what I did wrong (I repeat, I never build on a atomizer till now).

Hi Rene- sorry for the trouble, but this is interesting. You're exactly who this tank is built for.
I'm on the sidelines, waiting to see the consensus (if there is such a thing) on this tank. Usually, on most tanks, the gurgling would point you to wicking technique and juice flow control. But since I don't have one of these yet, nor experience with sky-decks (which I thought would eliminate some of the possibility of gurgling), I'll just wait for someone else to answer.

An aside: Anna- when is your title going to change to "Mistress of the Dark Art of Liking Your Post So Fast It Happens Before You Even Click "Post Reply""? :)

1. Check if the tank/chimney assembley completely screwed down to the base deck
2. Use more cotton for your wick to make it thicker

The first thing we see is a Massive Cloud Bro, then have to wait 30 seconds for the screen to clear and for them to start talking, then they blow another Massive Cloud Bro when they go to the "Down Low Shot" for a build, then a few more Cloudz to end the video. These are Big ol' Honkin' Cloudz too. I bet they go thru 10ml of juice just to impress all us Noobs out in YouTube land that have never seen anything quite so wonderful in all our lives.:lol::lol::lol::lol: When I grow up I want to be just like them. ;)

Me too. (wait. when ARE we gonna grow up?)

I was just on the My Vapor Store site and I noticed that they have the Ares back in stock. I am going to be happy with the one I have for now, so I left them for anyone who's still waiting to get one.

And the Ares is on FT too now. Hmmmm.
