Hi guys, i just recently discovered ecigs so decided to give it a try. I had no idea where to start so just bought a 510 disposable to try it. After trying it, i really like these things and now would like to get something more permanent.
The problem is, its very overwhelming and i have no idea at all where to start.
I usually smoke about 15 a day and would like some advice as to what to buy. Obviously coming straight from cigs i want something with a bit of a hit to it so i still feel like im smoking if you get me... this disposable was great for it when fully charged and a new cartridge in, but then got very weak.

So if anyone could be so kind as to point me in the right direction, and also some basic instructions of what i would need to buy/replace frequently and how often, that would be great, as im also trying to cost this up compared to regular smoking.

Thanks in advance

Are you wanting a larger battery, or do you want to stick with the mini batteries?

For myself, if I were starting all over from the beginning, this is what I would have gotten:
KGO kit1100mAh by SLB

Thanks for the reply jixchel.
If i buy this kit, do the batteries ever need replacing or do they recharge always?
What else do i need to buy on a regular basis? Just replacement cartridges? and could you link me the cartridges i would buy so i can bookmark it, i dont want to buy the wrong ones lol
How long do the cartridges usually last?

Sorry im very new to this, but really appreciate the help

Most everyone starts out the same way with the ecigs you mentioned. Fortunately for you, you already have 510 cartos, which will work on Joye Ego batteries. Ego batteries can be purchased anywhere within the range of $15-25 depending on your options. The standards come in 650mah or 1100mah, but you will need to purchase a charger $5. Then you have passthroughs which you can use while they are plugged in through the usb port. These come with a charger so thats a bonus. Then you have the new Ego Twist, and these things are awesome. They allow you to use higher voltage, which allows you to use better attachments for a better vape. the Twist will require a charger as well, but ego chargers are universal so, you would only need to purchase one to use on any of these. Once you have your battery you can use the cartos you have, but most people prefer Boge low resistance 510s. I personally prefer the clearomizers in order to avoid using anything that has the polyfill. These go for around $5 most everywhere as well. Once you got that, all you have to do is choose some juice. No one can really suggest juice for you, but you can get a good idea by reading reviews. I buy most evveryhing from smoktek.com. They have all the hardware, and juice you need. the shipping is fast, and reliable. Right they are having a 10% sale enter moving10 at checkout to save some cash. Good Luck, and remember to always read reviews.

They recharge, but like all batteries eventually you will have to replace them, but it will be 4-6 months from when you buy them. You can actually get a variety of things to put onto the batteries, anything with a 510 threading will fit. If you click on the Cartomizer link on the website I linked to, just about all of that stuff will fit on your kgo battery, check out some of the things you think you would like then ask further questions to help you clarify your needs and questions you might have.

K so am i right in thinking that the cartridges when used, are replaced with cartomizers which fit a 510? this is one of the things im foggy on, are cartridges and cartomizers the same thing?
Also the atomizers, these are what the cartridges slot into yeah? Do these 2 which come in the kit ever need replacing?

Cartridges are going to be different than the cartomizer. The cartridge will fit onto the atomizer and the liquid in the cartridge through gravity makes the liquid get to the atomizer. A cartomizer is the atomizer and cartridge combined into a single unit but operates on the same basic principle. I have never used the cartridges personally so perhaps someone else can chime in here. Eventually the atomizers will need replaced, sometimes a matter of weeks other times months.

Both the cartridges and the cartomizers can be refilled with the nicotine liquid.

I agree with Jixchel. Get yourself one of those and all you'll need besides that is replacement cartomizers and fluid to fill them up with. I'm sure if you contact the company you're buying from, they will tell you how to obtain the proper accessories for it. And one more thing: Welcome to the Vaping Community!

I read a review on that kit which says "BUY this KGO starter kit and the Vision Tank Clearomizer, some juice and say goodbye to smoking cigarettes" , so i went looking.... is this what he recommended to buy?
Vision Nova Tank Clearomizer V2
And is this just like a regular cartomizer just a larger capacity which you fill with liquid yourself and screw onto the battery?

If im correct in what im thinking, then the final step would be to find the liquid to go into this yeah? Again a subject im unsure on so some pointers to the kind of juice to get (regular tobacco) would be appreciated

Yes, cartridges and cartomizers are the same thing. An atomizer is like a carto, but you don't fill it, you drip a couple of drops and vape and repeat. The inside of cartomizers and clearomizers has a coil, which is basically an atomizer. It takes the juice from a wick or the filler and vapes it.

If you want to stay with something that looks like a cigarette, check out the volt from smokeless image. The battery last for 2-4 hours, it is priced very reasonably, the cartos last a long time and can be refilled several times and their customer service is second to none. You can also use the coupon code YOURVOLT00 for 15% off.

Smokeless image is the most recommended mini on here.

If you want something larger, like the size of a sharpie, go with a kgo.

This video demonstrates the volt. It also shows the x2, which is the same as the kgo. This way you can get an idea of the difference.

The vivi nova is large. It holds 3.5 ml of juice. If you are trying to stay similar to cigs, wait on the vivi.

Don't get me wrong, I love it. I have a video showing it on an x2 / kgo. But it is big and may be a bit much for a new person trying to transition from analogs without noticing a difference

For juice, check out Vapedudes. They have 2 great coupons. One is FBFREE. That will get you a free bottle of juice, shipping included. They only accept 15 a day, so if it doesn't work, try the next day.

The other is VAPEDUDES. That will get you 40% off an order. You can use both coupons on the same order

The biggest suggestion I, or anyone else will give you is get small bottles (5-10ml). Until you find what you like. Then if you like it, go back and order 30ml bottles.

I have heard great reviews on the ViVi Nova Tank, and yes the liquid would be the final step. There are so many wonderful e-juice vendors out there and so many flavors to try. Buy always in sample sizes of 6ml so if you get one you don't like you aren't out too much. There is also a pay it forward group where you can trade juices and stuff you didn't like for some you think you will. For me, I started out with this site for liquid ECBlend E-Liquids - Something Better They have a wide variety of flavors and at $2.50 for a sample size you really can't beat it.

Edit: If I may ask, where in Texas? I know there are a couple brick and mortar shops in Texas where you could go to get some help starting you out rather than having to order all online.

Yes I Agree with mroutlaw. Keep it simple to start. The whole idea is to quit or cut down on the ciggies. So you don't want to get frustrated with complicated stuff just starting out.
Here's my setup:
Kgo 1100 mah starter kit
+ Boge LR 2.0 cartomizers
+ Gooood juice.
I got mine from Dark City Vapor. He throws in a sample bottle of juice too.
Good luck
Welcome to the forum

Gibster....It can be mind boggling because of the different products out there. This is an example of an affordable kit that will get you the basics and let you explore the different options: Ego 510 900 Mah Ego Clearomizer Kit [EGO-900 ego-kit] - $46.00 : Vapors Choice, Ecigarettes & Parts

The price is not bad for just the batteries and charger but I am not endorsing this particular product or vendor. I did buy two ego batteries and a charger for my wife and they are working just fine.

A clearomizer is a cartomizer (tank and atomizer in one) that has clear sides. Either one needs to be refilled with e liquid as you vape and they are available in different capacities, sizes, colors, resistance (ohms) ratings and thread configuration. The typical 510 (thread type) cartomizer has a rubber plug with a hole in it thru which the vapor travels into you. Drip tips can be used in place of the plug if you like.

I'm going to suggest that you take the plunge and get set up with two ego batteries, a charger, some cartomizers or clearomizers (start with 2-2.4 ohm single coil) and some juice. I futher suggest that you buy sample size bottles of juice to find something you like and buy two bottles of each; one high nicotine content and one low nic content. This way you can mix them to get the % that works for you. I started at 24 mgm but was down to 12 in a couple weeks. OK, this has to end somewhere :D. Others will have other ideas and you will still be overwhelmed but this, too, shall pass. Just stay away from the cigarettes, please.

Thanks for the help, that video is great and has helped me a great deal. I really dont think the vivo tank would be an issue for me so i may go ahead with it straight away, though the clearomizer looks pretty good too i just cant seem to find a good one to get.

How much juice do you think i would vape per day if i was on around 15 regular cigs?

I will go ahead with the KGO kit, now need to decide clearomizer or the vivo tank, and get myself some juice samples

That's a tough question...again, a lot of variables. I smoked about 30 light 100's a day and I'm vaping 9-12 ml. of 12 mgm.

Edit to add: I'm retired and spend a lot of time in front of the computer. I'm a woodworker and if I'm busy in the shop I vape a lot less.

In the beginnng you will probably vape more than you smoked especially if you really like the flavor of the liquid. I thought I would be happiest with tobacco flavors at first, but the fruit flavors just WOW! They are my favorites now.

Would you recommend i get 16mg or 24mg strength bottles? I was rolling my own cigarettes with pouches of Bugler tobacco
also: how long does the tank last if i buy one? and do i need to clean it after every fill?
edit - damn the tank is out of stock, does anyone know where i can get one? or maybe a recommended clearomizer instead?
