It's hard to say what nicotine strength you'll need. I smoked about 7-10 cigs a day and was surprised to find that 16-18mg was too high. I vape about 12mg juices now, with some at 6mg for days when I'm vaping a lot. You'll want to try various strengths in the beginning to find what you like. You'll also want to play around with PG/VG ratios. I've found that I can't handle PG more than 50%.

Thanks for the help, that video is great and has helped me a great deal. I really dont think the vivo tank would be an issue for me so i may go ahead with it straight away, though the clearomizer looks pretty good too i just cant seem to find a good one to get.

How much juice do you think i would vape per day if i was on around 15 regular cigs?

I will go ahead with the KGO kit, now need to decide clearomizer or the vivo tank, and get myself some juice samples

I suggest both, get the bottom coil phoenix for on the go and the vivi nova for home. A pack of 5 Phoenix will last you at least a month.

Good choice on the kgo. I prefer them over the ego because it is 3.7v compared to the standard ego at 3.4v

As far as juice, it all depends. I was a 1 1/2 pad smoker and started out with 1-1/2ml a day and now I vape 5-6ml. I use low nic and vape all day because I love the taste.

Vapedudes has a good 5 bottle pack. You end up saving $1 a bottle, so it becomes $5 for 10ml. If you use both coupons I gave you on the same order, and get the 5 bottle pack, you can get 6, 10ml bottles for $18, shipping included. That should be enough for at least a month.

My preference on juice is 70%pg/30%vg with extra flavor. It gives you a lot of flavor, plenty of vapor, good throat hit and still not too thick for wicking

If you want a KGO or E-Power and want some tips on exactly what items to order, see Post #9 in this thread.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/310734-hello-new-ecig-user.html

For juice, I'd suggest getting some in 18mg and some in 24mg nic level. One of those 2 strengths should be a good starting point. And probably 70/30 PG/VG ratio.

I'd also suggest perhaps trying a sample size of some Ry4 from whichever juice vendor you choose. Ry4 is a tobacco flavor but, frankly, in the two I've tried from different vendors, I don't taste any tobacco. In fact, I don't taste much of anything, but both of those Ry4's simulate the chest and throat hit from a cigarette better than most other juices I've tried. Your mileage may vary, and probably will. But a $2.50 sample size from ECBlend won't kill you if you don't like it.

I vape mostly 12mg juices, 1-4 ml depending on what kind of day I'm havng. This weekend a lot more and at 6mg simply because I just got my Reo in the mail and I'm pretty much vaping my face off with my new toy as I have the entire weekend to myself. And with the car accident yesterday (No one was injured) it isn't like I can go anywhere, which really sucks because I wanted to go to the indiana vapers meet. No one was injured LOL but boy am I sore today from that damned airbag deploying! Off track rambling now over LOL Like Stormlark I too can't handle more than 50% pg.

Would you recommend i get 16mg or 24mg strength bottles? I was rolling my own cigarettes with pouches of Bugler tobacco
also: how long does the tank last if i buy one? and do i need to clean it after every fill?
edit - damn the tank is out of stock, does anyone know where i can get one? or maybe a recommended clearomizer instead?

24 may be a bit strong, but everyone is different. Most heavy smokers use between 12-18mg. As a light smoker (which I think 15 analogs a day is). I would start with 12, maybe 18. As other posters have said, you will find you vape more than you smoked. Mostly because it tastes good, and you have more opportunities. No more going outside to smoke, you will vape in lots of places you didn't smoke.

My personal opinion, for what it's worth, is that it is easier to vape more than cut back on vaping, so for me, I vape less nic and do it more often. In other words, if comparing it to a analog, instead of having 1 cigarette an hour, I would rather take the same cigarette and smoke it for the entire hour,

One other thing. If you order from ECBlend, I'd suggest ordering extra flavor or even double extra flavor. Their flavors seem really light, at least to me. Now, their Ry4 is fine in just the normal mix, but their other juices (such as Dragon's Blood) need extra flavor.

That reminds me, I need to re-order some of their Caramel Cappuccino (Double Extra Flavor with Extra Sweetener, 18mg 70/30). I was disappointed in some of their juices, but I really like that one and their Ry4.

One thing I like about ECB is they ship fast. I usually get my order 2 days after I order it, and that's coming from the pacific northwest to Texas.

I read a review on that kit which says "BUY this KGO starter kit and the Vision Tank Clearomizer, some juice and say goodbye to smoking cigarettes" , so i went looking.... is this what he recommended to buy?
Vision Nova Tank Clearomizer V2
And is this just like a regular cartomizer just a larger capacity which you fill with liquid yourself and screw onto the battery?

If im correct in what im thinking, then the final step would be to find the liquid to go into this yeah? Again a subject im unsure on so some pointers to the kind of juice to get (regular tobacco) would be appreciated

Gibster76- I pretty to new to vaping myself. Iv'e tried quite a few tobacco juices, and I like the flavor Tenessee Cured from Johnson Creek Smokejuice. They are a little more pricey than some other e-juice suppliers, but it is pretty close to a regular cig in taste, with just a little sweetness.

Finally, do you have a vid for cleaning it, or a brief explanation as i would hate to damage it as a rookie.

Here's what I do and it works for me:

1. Unscrew the top of the tank.
2. Dump out any remaining juice.
3. Unscrew the base of the tank. All the guts of the tank come out in one piece (attached to the bottom) when you do that.
4. Rinse off all the pieces with warm water.
5. Unscrew the coil/heating element (whatever it's called) from the top of the stem that is attached to the base. This is the piece I'm talking about: http://www.hoosierecig.com/Vision-Nova-Replacement-Heads_p_137.html
6. Pull the silicon cover (and the washer inside it) off the heating element.
7. Rinse off those pieces with warm water.
8. Dry everything overnight (or quicker with a hair dryer set on the cool setting).
9. [Dry burn if you want to. See videos on youtube for dry burning.]
10. Put the silicon cover (and the washer inside it) back on the heating element. The washer inside the silicon cover has a flat side and a cone shaped side. The cone side faces up. Very important.
11. Screw the base unit back onto the tank.
12. Fill tank with juice.
13. Screw top back on.
14. Allow juice to wick for 10 - 15 minutes.
15. Vape away.

I'm sure there are people who wear tin foil hats and recite chants in unknown languages and will say that is also required for a proper cleaning. There are always those who take things to extremes and make it more difficult and mystical than it should be in reality. The above is what I do. I don't know if it's right or not, but I've been using Vivi Nova's for a few weeks and that cleaning method has worked for me.

You can dry burn them if you feel it's necessary. I've got mixed feelings about it.

I haven't burned out a coil/heating element yet. Although I do have one that tasted burned from the get-go, so I guess you could count that one. (I think there is a problem with the way that one wicks. The first vape tastes fine. If I take another hit, it tastes burnt. If I let it sit for 5 minutes or so, the first vape will be fine again.)

The great thing is that you can buy the replacement coils (I think they call them heads now that I think about it) for about $2 or $2.50 each in whatever resistance you want - 1.8ohm, 2.4ohm or 2.8ohm.

I did check the resistance of some of mine on a buddy's PV that measures resistance and they were off. E.g., a 2.8ohm that measured 2.3ohms, and a 2.4ohm unit that measured 3.0 ohms. Oh well, these things are cheap enough that I don't worry about it much. Plus, I'm using a variable voltage PV (the VTube), so I adjust the voltage up to where the juice starts tasting burned and then back it off a couple of tenths.

Great thanks again Mr Outlaw and everyone else.
Can i ask again, do you guys know where i could get one of the vision nova tanks as its out of stock on the website which has the kit, and also how long does the tank last?
Finally, do you have a vid for cleaning it, or a brief explanation as i would hate to damage it as a rookie.

Gotvapes is sold out too, but they had a post. On their forum that it will be in early next week. Be careful about where you get them. There are some companies selling knockoffs. The knockoffs usually have brass fittings but its hard to tell. they are also copying the box to make it even harder. You should be paying about $14-$16 for one. If you see someone selling it for $10-$12, it's probably a fake or the old version. Also, make sure you are getting the 2.5 version. It will be called the vivi nova 2.5. You don't want the vivi nova or the vivi nova 2. The first one had lots of problems but there are still people selling it. The second one had some of the problems fixed, but the plastic was cracking from juice, and had some other minor problems.

I suggest you wait for gotvapes. They will have them in, and are also supposed to have a slightly smaller version that holds 2.5ml. Now that the ship from Texas, the shipping is quick. I get every order within 2days and if there is a problem, they fix it. They are also having a deal right now to get free juice with a $45 order, not hat you are going to spend that much. Also, if you don't t it from them, make sure the one youget has 3 heads. If it is not coming with 3 heads, it may be fake.

As far as cleaning, it is super easy, I haven't made a video because it is so easy.

This videos one of the owners of gotvapes demonstrating it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QMyqN5IHZk&feature

To clean, just take off the top, take off the head and rinse under sink, rinse out the tube and reassemble, there is nothing easier on the market to clean.

The only thing you will need to replace on them is the little head, which you get 3 of in the box. Many people are even rewicking and recoiling them themselves but that's a bit much for a new person. As far as how long they last, it depends on how much you vape and what kind of juice you use. You should get at least 2 weeks on a head if ku clean it once in a while.

If you get the vivi nova and a pack of bottom coil Phoenix, you will be set. Skipping the filler cartomizers will be a good decision, I wish I could have done that.

One more thing. If you sign up for the newsletter at gotvapes, you get 5% off every order. So the the few items they charge $1 more for, comes right back with the discount

If you get a Version 2 from Hoosier or Surevapes, you'll be fine. The ONLY difference between the version 2 and 2.5 is that Gotvapes specified a particular plastic compound for the tanks that's supposed to resist cracking. If you don't use high acid juice, it's a non-issue. Gotvapes is the only place that sells the Version 2.5 because that's what they decided to name it. As far as the manufacturer is concerned, there IS no "Version 2.5".

Now that Vision, the manufacturer, is making the tanks differently, the newer shipments of the Version 2 will likely have the new tanks. I've already seen them advertised at Healthcabin. Once they ALL start shipping with the new tanks, it will mean that there is no difference between V2 and V2.5 except the name. Meanwhile, the metal tanks work great and you can get a V2 plus a metal tank for about the same price as Gotvapes sells the V2.5.

The big issue is to avoid the V1 and the knockoffs. Genuine V2's are selling for about $13 most places and they work every bit as well as the V2.5. Personally, I prefer the short, fat wicks of the V2 over the long thin wicks on the V2.5.

Another thing about the coils on the Vivi. Out of the box, they almost always meter higher than they're labeled. After a tank or two, if you meter them again, you'll see that the resistance has dropped to within 0.1-0.2 ohms of what it's supposed to be. STrange but true. I have 4 Vivi Novas, both V2 and V2.5. Every one of them has done the same thing. Even when I re-coil them myself, the resistance they measure when new drops about 0.3-0.5 ohms after being used for a tank or two.

They actually only sell the ego, not the kgo, I personally would not recommend the ego. They do sell the ego twist, which isn't bad, that gives you the ability to adjust the voltage. If you go that route, spend the extra $4 and get the larger 1000mah. Its almost twice the battery life for $4 more,

Whether you get the twist or the kgo, I highly suggest 2 batteries, the last thing you want is your battery to go dead and not have a backup. You will go right back to analogs. I remember when I smoked, if I ran out of cigarettes, I wouldn't wait to go tithe cheaper store that had the 2 pack specials, I would go to the corner and pay $7 for a pack as opposed to $10 for 2 packs 2 miles from my house. You will see that most of us have backups for our backups.

If I can find the code for the free juice with $45 orders, I will send it to you
