Well, my experience with SS coils in the Aromamizer on a X Cube II weren't positive in TC mode...It kept kicking me into power mode. So, the Armomamizer with SS resides on top of the Sigelei 150TC set to 55W. After vaping Ti, SS just has too long of a ramp up on initial draw for me as an all day vape. I prefer near instant action, and that 1-1.5 second moment is bothersome.

I've found some 99.99% pure Ti wire that has been "pickled" for cleaning of impurities from the surface. After a good cleaning, PGA-boiling water-PGA again) I wrapped two 6 wrap spaced around 3mm and set them in vertically. The results have been outstanding. I may eventually try horizontal coils, but for now I'm pleased with my results.

I'm still on plan to pick up a third Aromamizer next month...in SS finish. I want to mix and match a few parts with one of the black tanks for a truly customized look. I'll post pictures of the mash-up when it happens.

I tried my first horizontal build and it was a disaster. Didn't get the wicking right and the deck flooded. What a mess.. :-x
Did a lower ohm vertical build like I had done before and I'm back to happy vaping with it. I'll try the horizontals again, someday.
I did try trimming the wicking very close to the post tops with my verticals and it seemed to not make much, if any, difference for the chimney juice issue. Just something to live with as you said.
With my horizontal build I'm putting way more cotton in the deck than I would with a dripper. Been working fantastic. 50,60,70w with an 80vg juice no problems. Not noticed any cooked juice problems but now it's been mentioned I'll be sure to agonise over it lol.

9.5 times out of 10 when a mod kicks you out of TC mode, there is something wrong with your build. Out of all my devices, I have never been kicked out of TC mode when it wasn't my fault. Try changing out the build.

True, but some mods don't like ss. The low tcr can be hard to read and some mods just won't run it reliably. Ss needs to be pulsed a dozen times or so before wicking too, so that the res can stabilize. It should be dark charcoal grey when fully oxidized.

Am I the only one who seems to have a slightly rough time turning the build deck back in. It's not hitting but seems like it thread a little rough at times. Perhaps over time it gets smoother or I need to put something on the threads

Mine threading seems smooth enough iirc but as a general rule I don't remove the build decks from the bases. Can't see any need to.

I don't either I guess I meant to say the whole bottom part. Mine starts a little rough after filling
Idk if this is the case but mine used to be smooth when i got this but after sanding it became a bit rough.
now it's not too bad somehow. Maybe there still was a bit of ground metal on thread.

Both of mine got a little rough after sanding too. I took a small piece of sandpaper and sanded a little bevel on the inner chimney ring and tabk base. That helped a bunch but it's still not quite factory smooth.

A found another problem with the X Cube II...it's not reading Ohm's properly, and there's a significant difference between what the mod says and what it claims to be reading on the BT ap. I've contacted the company I bought it from, and will try to send it in for a replacement. I'm not digging this mod at the moment. I'm now vaping the SS Clapton coil in power mode for now. I get about a 3 second draw in TC, and it kicks me out. It's got to be something wrong with the mod, because my coils are good, and there's no shorts at all.

The app is absolute garbage. The XCube II reads with .1 ohm of what my ohm reader says typically, I wouldn't trust the app to read your ohms.

As for TC I had that issue with SS, as well. What do you have the TCR set to? I found, for me, that 000108 is the spot that works best. I keep my builds below .4 ohms (typically about .34) and I have no issues with SS 316L in TC on the thing. But like I said, I refuse to use that ridiculous app, unless I wanna play with the disco colors or something.

Single coil, 32/26 clapton, 2.5mm 7wrap, horizontal, 0.56 ohm according to my USA meter. The mod reads it a 0.49 ohm, and the app reads it as 0.62 ohm. I trust the USA meter...it reads the same as my other mods, so I know the issue is the mod. I don't have single strand SS yet, but hope to by the end of the day. I'll try it with that wire, and if it still kicks me, the mod is going back. I haven't been this stressed since I quit smoking. It's a good thing I have other mods to use...LOL

That might be the issue with getting kicked out. Check your TCR and lower the ohms (you're probably right on what your meter is reading, that USA Ohm meter is very accurate)...I had nothing but issues with .5 and above in TCR, that's why I dropped the resistance. If you're that close to .5 as read by the mod, it might be causing problems. I'm sure there's plenty of people who never had problems with higher ohms in TC, but I'm not one of them.

It's not a bad mod, but I'm planning on buying an RX200 to put my spare aromamizer on, since I have the DNA200 version already. Then I'll retire my XCube II to the shelf to be brought out in case of busted mod, or something.

I set the ohms as low as I could get it, and it seems to be working now. Thanks for the info. I'm still not pleased with the issue of it reading ohms wrong. It may just be one of those things with this mod. I'm waiting on an email back from the seller to see what they want me to do. If I have to swap it out, then I've wasted money on a J-wrap...and I hate wasting money. Well, the wife wasted it, but it was my money. LOL
