I've not needed to recoil either of my Aromamizers yet

Once every few months using a mini hex key is not that painful :D
True, unless like mine allen key strips grub nuts out. Also dropped my wrench on floor a few weeks back, took forever to find as dang thing so small ☺

Maybe I'm missing something.... But just did my first ever clapton build in my life.... 24awg kanthal a1 core wrapped with 30awg kanthal al. 5 wraps ohming in at .26 Having to run it at 80 plus watts to get anything more than just clouds out of it but the flavor still just doesn't seem to be there. I don't know if I'll build anymore because it just seems like a lot of work and a lot of battery when I can't tell a difference in flavor between it and my usual dual 7 wrap 24awg. I've done tons of standard builds and wicking in this thing so I know what my juice that I diy should taste like.

Well, there's your problem - you gotta' put wicking in there!
Seriously though, I don't have any ideas for you other than to do another build with the Claptons and see if it's just something from your first attempt gone wrong. I just did my first Clapton build as well, but I used pre-made 26/32 wire and it's bombing the flavor and cloud, 0.31Ω @ 48W.
Just like anything else, there's a learning curve involved I guess.. hang in there!

Where did you get this pre-made wire?

I tried it again with different wire last night. Put different builds in two different aromizers. One with 24/32 and one with 26/34 and same results. Both are super power hungry and while the flavor is good, I don't see it being a lot better than my standard wraps. I'm a tinkerer and a cheap person lol so if I can feasibly make it myself, I won't buy it. I guess to me, that's why I don't see the wire worth the work for the reward ya know? But who knows... a tank or two and maybe the things just come alive and I'll never go back. Gonna give em' a fair shake before I scrap the builds.

Yeah, give them a bit of time to be fair. Might just not be your thing though. We're all different, or at least that's what I've been told. ;)

Nah, you're not missing anything. I've done a few claptons in the past and cant see any real benefit to them. Like you say you need to put a lot more power through them for the same results. Take longer to heat up too. People will say you get better flavour from them but can't say I noticed. I just stick to dead simple micro coils done on me coil master and they give me everything I need.

Hey @dwcraig1, I have some pretty sharp threads on the top cap where it threads into the air flow or chimney piece. The first time I disassembled for cleaning the small O-ring was damaged by the threads. I was so anxious to get the new Aromamizer up and running I just carefully put the spare in and have not disassembled it since. I have been cleaning it by rinsing it in its assembled state and blowing it out/dry with compressed air through the fill holes.

I do want to address the issue properly though and want to disassemble it and lightly sand the sharp burr or whatever it is off. I do not want to try that until I have spare O-rings in hand. I have emailed SC and am waiting for a reply. I went to O-rings And More (thanks to you) in the meantime and found they do have metric silicone O-rings. They are red and the description states safe to 446 degrees F. Do you think they would be okay to use?

I believe the size of that little devil to be 1X5:

Silicone O-rings 5 x 1mm Price for 25 pcs

I think that even the regular black Buna would even be OK there

I was just coming here to post that. Its a 3ml Aromamizer crossed with a Serpent.

However, I'm not sure if its supposed to be single or dual coil. Looks like either from the afc ring.

Yeah, looks like either to me with the third (?) AFC port. Not sure of the logic there, because a single would naturally go between the posts. I see no juice plugs in the kit to allow a horizontal on one side.

I'd guess dual since it looks like wicking holes on both sides of the posts.

So does the kayfun 4 though. I would be inclined to coil it like the Serpent and have my wick tail on both sides if I wanted single coil.

And the offset post holes seem like a pain for dual.
