Aromamizer RDTA problems

Hey everyone,

(I wasn't sure wether to post it here or in the RDA board, because this is an RDTA lol)

I got my Aromamizer RDTA in the mail 2 days back. I have never owned a rebuildable, so this is my first time making coils and wicks.

I opened the box and immediately started building. I made a dual coil 7 wrap 3mm coil, from 24awg Kanthal. I have risen the coils as far as I could, but it simply doesn't vape good. There must be something I am doing wrong. I have included some pictures of my coils. It wicks good and there are no dry hits. But the flavour is almost non-existent, and if I puff very hard I just suck the whole tank dry lol (despite the excellent spitback protection). I have also notice that it doesn't matter what my ratios are, I have tried 30/70, 50/50, but I just have no throat hit. 0nic that is though.

Is there anything obviously wrong with my config?

Thanks so much in advance!

You can do 1 of two things... For starters I would reduce the inner diameter of the coil to 2.5mm.... That way you don't have to worry about your cotton sagging and not touching the top of the coil. We can get that build to a .4 ohm with 10 wraps each should for easily and increased surface area should increase your flavor. The coils need to be even with the air holes when the tank is placed on top.

Otherwise you may have to go with more of an exotic build like a dual parallel build or smaller gauge twisted to enhance flavor. I have never had an issue with flavor out of my aromamizer only leaking through the air holes if it's laid on it's side.

That's a good one! Thank you! I'll try a dual 2.5mm 10 wrap build tonight when I get home, and a dual parallel build when I get my master coiler kit in the mail!

The coils are even with the air holes (by accident every time lol). I have tried the 2 hole vape band, but it doesnt enhance the flavour for me. Lowering the wattage to about 30-35 did help a little, and I don't get a mouth full of juice anymore, so improvements are made.

EDIT: I also notice that the ramp-up time is about 1.5-2 seconds, is this normal?

Ah... my mod only does up to 60w (Eleaf TC60W). I'll tighten my screws down now, can I overtighten/break them?

EDIT: Whoops, I'm a noob. I've tightened down my screws with a bigger screwdriver for more leverage, and that has helped a ton. The ramp up time is now almost instant. Thanks!!!
