Geez Louise. My first post disappeared so now I'va gotta write it all again! Must remember to do a Control C so I don't lose it - either way! :?:

So . . . what did I say last time?
History: 50 year 2 PAD smoker of Marboro Gold 100 when in the US (love those) but Next while in Canada (where I live and therefore most of the time). The body is telling me it's time with the shallow breath and the increased hacking. I hate the messiness and stale smell of smoking Travel is a huge hassle and I do love that. Latest is my cruise for next late winter just announced no smoking in cabins or balconies. That was the final kicker as I so enjoy sitting on the balcony in the late evening with a brandy and a smoke watching the stars and listening to the waves. Sooo here I am.

I've tried - I believe - most all smoking cessation items except hypnosis. I'm too strong willed (and perhaps lacking in trust) to ever succumb to hypnosis. The patch gave me rashes everywhere, can't chew gum but occasionally because of my crowns, Champix (Chantix in US) did zilch . . . so here we be.

After extensive reading I'm looking at this Bloog MaxxFusion Mini PCC Starter Kit on HappyVaper. As the pic is all the parts, disassembled, it's difficult to know the size of the e-cig when it's all together. What is a 'starter kit' anyway? Whatever e-cig(s) I buy I will want all the 'pieces' required for the next 3 months. I don't want to be needing to order stuff weekly or even bi-weekly. Advice appreciated on that

Then there is the e-juice issue. I will definitely need a 24mg ej if I'm to be successful at this I'm pretty sure. That said I live in Canada so how do I get this?? Is there some 'trustable black market' sources of it? It is way beyond annoying to me that Health Canada similar such bodies espouse good health and protection while all the time selling cigarettes, reaping enormous tax income, wasting money on all manner of labelling of these products . . . well end of rant. I'll solve my issues however I need to.

I'll need some strong nic juice, and some other flavors that will likely be in the non-sweet category - mesquite perhaps, smoky flavors - no vanilla type stuff but maybe sandalwood or maybe banana cream pie which I make once in a long while. :p Cocanut Cream might work too.

I'll appreciate any and all help you folks can give me.
Just in case, I have C+C's this!
Ciao Holly

Hi TheTimeHasCome!

You'll get boatloads of help from people who from whose very pores oozes actual wisdom and knowledge!

I just saw "50 years" and was compelled to stick my head in to tell you I'm a Golden Half Century Smoker, too! I just started working toward a gradual changeover about 3 weeks ago, for reasons very similar to the ones you mention.

You know we all get blogs? They might not kick in till you've done your 5 Posts of Auspicious Intentions, I'm not sure, but I started doing mine about some of the particular perils and pitfalls of making the Big Change for people who have, um, attained an age where moisturizer is no longer optional, people who have health issues, or like me, both.

You have plenty of Required Reading in front of you, and you'll find more of it every time you come, and once you get yourself all situated here in your new internet home, you're more than welcome to visit the blog, in case anything in it might be useful or applicable to you.

You may want to buy a MOD device instead of a stick kit like the bloog. I bought the Icon v1.1 for example. The mods will help you quit by giving you a better and more consistent vaping experience. Something like the bloog or volt is good for being out and about as they are less conspicuous. Ideally you should have both types. As far as juice goes I have found that the tobacco juices with less sweetness are better for fighting cig cravings, mileage may vary. I will also say that if you are VERY addicted to smokes you should start off with a nicotine strength of 24 or 36mg.

Good luck

Welcome to ECF !

Bloog is a nice choice. I looked at the vendor you mentioned....so I could see which kit. I think I would also order10 or 15 more cartomizers, and 2 more batteries since you don't want to order frequently.

Would get some lower nic too.......just in case...

E-liquid....a good average is 3-5 mls a day...would figure 5. There are vendors there that you can get liquid from, as well as vendors here that will ship to Canada....I don't know off the top of my head...

Really tho...after your 5 posts you can also have access to the Canadian Forum and get some inside secrets on liquid!

I had no where near the time in with that demon weed as you, but I loved smoking. I don't care what anyone says, smoking is one of the great pleasures in life, except for the consequences. I took the plunge to vaping over a month ago. It was an amazing thing. it as close to smoking as you get. Some will argue it is better.

I have not had a .... in a month. I feel ten times better. My lungs are clear for the first time in a long time. Food tastes better and my sense of smell has returned.

Hello lolady. I feel like I know you well. :) I've read thru your extensive thread and very much enjoyed your writing and humour. I'll look forward to reading your blog as well when I've permission. :) I didn't know we all got blogs - great idea for recording the changes and events as time goes on with vaping.

Okay BigToots - I'll keep the MOD idea in mind. I do think I'll buy an out + about as well.

Yup I'd say I'm a pretty heavy addict. :-( I'll maybe get both nics you suggest and then graduate downwards as I can. Good idea? Also think I'll be one to lean toward the not too sweet so I've noted your suggestions. Many thanks for the info.

And thanks to you also classwife. I've taken your suggests and added them to my list.

How will I know when I can post on Canada (or any other) forum other than this one? And another question to anyone willing to share - how long can you be 'idle' such as reading or writing, before you get auto logged off? That's happened to me several times and I don't see (though there maybe one and I've missed it) a 'keep me logged on' button.

I enjoyed smoking too until lately Gordon. However between the physical consequences and the personal hassles, I'm going to try my best to make this work. I'm not really sure whether it's an addiction to nic or a soother or both but I do smoke a lot. To some extent it would be more correct to say I burn a lot. :) Light, drag, rest in ashtray, return, drag and put out cause it's burned down that far. Might as well sit here and burn money!

I read thru a thread somewhere here where folks listed all the positive impact of quitting smoking. Sounded good! And good for you - luv and need the inspiration!

Hi!

I just wanted to say nice to meet you and let you know - that if I can do this - ANYBODY can do this!

I smoked Marlboro Lights for 30 years - 1 to 1.5/ppd. I loved smoking and I didn't want to quit. By some freak miracle - I was at a bbq festival and some chick shoved a Ecig flyer in my hand. Days later I dug it out of my purse while I was cleaning it out - thot hmmm.. headed for google and well the rest is history. I quickly discovered I personally did not like the taste of tobacco (or the ashtray in my mouth) and I clearly had a nicotine problem! When I saw that I could "smoke" peppermint - I ran like my hair was on fire to place an order!!

I did about 3 days of research - ordered a kit (KR808-D1) - two piece - ez for me being a newbie. Exactly 1 hour after my kit arrived and I got the ecigs charged I went cold turkey. Started out with a 12mg prefilled carto and about 2 hits later switched up to 18mgs. It's been 12 days and blissfully I have not wanted or craved an analog!

If someone in my family ever asks me when I'm going to quit smoking ECigs - which will be never - because I'll be sitting in a nursing home vaping - yelling at the nurses to check for my mail/shipments (lol).....I'm going to PIPSLAP someone!!!

I can't even begin to tell you how much confidence I have in myself now - I can't believe I've done this and I am so happy! Now - the sky is the limit and I can breathe!!
