I think it's time to really unload. If you don't mind. You can skip down to the next post if you don't like long posts.
I own a small tax practice. Around March, in the middle of tax season, I decided to stop taking my antidepressants.
Not surprisingly, that didn't turn out well. As we got to May, I was a wreck, but unwilling to start back on the AD.

If you're in the tax business, preparing hundreds of returns, and in my case, mostly very involved returns (I've got a lot of real estate investors and oilmen in my client stable), you're going to make mistakes. People are going to be upset with you. It's part of the business.

This was a real bad year. I think my memory problems are getting worse. As early as May, I was getting at least a call a week from clients that I had made errors on their returns. It felt like the world was mad at me. I stopped answering the phone and deleting all of my emails (in my business account) unread. I started not answering the phone and deleting messages unheard.

In June, I started taking the anti depressant again. I started getting real bad headaches, which I found out is a side effect of stopping and restarting the AD's. I took a week's vacation the last week of June, and decided to extend my vacation another week...

I haven't done any substantial work since then. There are probably a lot of people mad at me now, and I can't face them. I go into my office and pretend to work, but I'm not even fooling myself. I can't reboot. I was already facing financial difficulties, and now I've made those worse, too. That's why I'm here and on other forums so much. I can face you 'cause I can't see you.

This is the best online community I've ever found, and I'm grateful to know, at least to some extent, everyone on this thread, and many others who are not. I'm going to my office soon to deliver a tax return. The first one I've prepared since June.

One problem, of course, is that nobody is my boss except for about 500 people, no one of which can threaten me and try to bring me around. Each one leaving, by itself, is no tragedy. But what if I lose 100 because I did this?
Nobody to tell me to work or your fired. Not even any employees to worry about having to pay.

I have to get back to seeing people soon. October is coming fast.

If you've read this far, bless you.

I'm going to answer this in a few posts.
First of all, breathe. It's ok. I've been on AD for over 20 years now and it can mess with your memory, weight, etc. But like you, I have found that being off of them does NOT work.

With that said, how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.....
Focus on one thing at a time. You did a tax return. That's GREAT! Do another. I would make it a goal to answer those calls/emails, even if it's a brief response. Let them know you are on the job. It's obvious you needed that vacation, but now it's time to catch up.

So....
Number 1: Answer ALL calls/emails briefly
Number 2: Prioritize the jobs that need to be done first and start putting out those fires
Number 3. Pat yourself on the back. You're getting there
Number 4. Ask yourself the question, could you use some extra help? could you afford the help
Number 5. Work down the list from the highest priorities on down. And do not take on any more clients until ALL your current ones are finished up.

To finish up, people will make more mistakes when they feel pressured. When you are working on a return, work AWAY from the phone. Close your email out. Get the work done in quiet or listening to white noise. You can't possibly get caught up by being constantly interrupted by pissy clients. I use this site when programming:
SimplyNoise -- The Best Free White Noise Generator on the Internet.
Good luck! YOU CAN DO THIS

Thank you for your kind words and understanding.

The one factor that has made this the hardest is going from level one to level two Parkinson's symptoms in a few months, after having stable and easily controlled level one symptoms for about 15 years. It's affecting my ability to do ordinary things. Even walking up and down the stairs is an adventure.

yeah I can see how this would indeed a be very difficult. I am only thankful I don't have any physical limitations.
But aside from that, the advice you have been given above from @Atchafalaya is indeed both sound and wise. Also, I know when you mention that while on the internet that you don't have to see any of us.... That is one positive aspect of the web if nothing else.

I'm sorry you are going through all these things. Life is a journey of ups and downs, like a rollercoaster. We just have to make adjustments as we age and things change. Just a fact of life. I've had horses my whole life until 2 years ago when I was diagnosed with Cervical Spinal Stenosis. One wrong move and I'll could end up in a wheelchair....so goodbye Max(my horse). I've learned how to walk well with a cane (and it's a pretty cool cane too - wood carved).
So, you can and will get past this. Hang in there! :) Better things are to come.

I have a small collection of canes. I had to start using one some time ago, mainly for balance. I even have 2 from the Dr House collection (when I saw his cane with flames on it, I just had to have one). But this one is my favorite:
It's a real icebreaker. :) People ask about it all the time.

Oh man that's nice! I almost ordered the Dr House one. Tried to find the scary one from The Storm of the Century movie. No luck. Ended up getting one in the French Quarter in New Orleans from Africa. It's so cool. It has a carved bird head from a Watusi bull on the tip.
    Mine's for balance too.
