Okay, nautilus now in hand and it has the plastic tray. Code checks out as authentic - no surprise there, I guess. The lettering on the tank seems pretty durable. I actually tried to scrape it off with my fingernail to no avail. The air flow control ring isn't nearly as nice as the one on the mini. I guess as long it performs well and doesn't leak, I'll be happy.

I find this statement interesting:

2) Paperboard: The packaging used within both the Aspire kits and the Nautilus models is comprised of a material termed as ‘Paperboard’, a kind of compressed cardboard. This material is made from recyclable materials, is of the highest quality and is marked with our logo to ensure the secure and safe packaging of our products. Due to both cost and the complex nature of our packaging, counterfeiters have opted to used plastic instead. This is a very important difference to look for in the packaging, and pictures of both original and imitations can be found in the product descriptions on this site.

I bought them when they first came out, before the cloners showed up and they had plastic trays. I'm wondering if this was something they implemented after their initial launch to differentiate, much like adding the second hologram starting in August? I got mine back in March. I emailed EIGATE let's see if I hear anything back.

I wrote the company...

ME
The more I read, the more concerned I am about the INADVERTENT sale of a counterfeit. Please check the link below. I do NOT have the pressed board inserts (they are plastic) and I certainly do not have the same hologram pictured in the link.

Aspire - IMPORTANT NEWS – Verifying your Aspire Kits and/or the Nautilus Mini

Thanks,

Thank you for your response. I do apologize for the confusion. Unfortunately, links have been disabled for security purposes. In this case, please visit the official Aspire website in the link below to verify your security code for your product. I can assure you the tank is authentic.

Aspire - Best E Cigarete, Clearomizer, Tank, nautilus

Please keep in mind manufacturers often make subtle changes to their products and packaging. They often manufacture the products faster than they can update their site.

Do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. Thank you for choosing...

me
Please google "aspire" "counterfeits" and "security code"

They're compromised. My hologram doesn't match, the aspire logo literally rubbed off (in a week) and the box is plastic. The subtle changes are not mentioned on the aspire website.

Had I known this before I received this, I would have sent it back at first sight.

Thoughts?

Today from EIGATE:
We just post that the Kit and the Nautilus Mini are using the paperboard. It is our worker's mistake to write the Nautilus Models, we have changed to Nautilus Mini, Thank you for the mention.

So the short version is paper board is only used I their tank/battery starter kits and the mini. So those of us with validated nautilus tanks with plastic need not be worried!

Furthermore, this is my first with time with a air control 'valve', what a difference it makes. Sometimes I want to blow out a thick smoke cloud and others , a short burst vape. .

I've had nothing but good luck with the Nautilus. I've moved to RBAs recently, but I still have need of backup tanks, and for that I use the Nautilus - just a good consistent vape overall with really good production and flavor. Fortunately, it works well for my wife as well, who has recently begun vaping (quitting cigs finally). She had an issue with coughing, no matter what I tried (PG ratios, voltage, etc...), but when I had her try the nautilus she was able to vape without coughing. I'm assuming it has something to do with the Nautilus air flow and thickness of the vape.

Since Nautilus is working so well for her, I decided to pick up another two - found a GREAT site that currently has a blowout deal going - $17 bucks for a Nautilus tank!

Expires 8/31 according to the site, so if you want a Nautilus at a great price, check out that page.

interesting read through, this thread. I respect peoples concerns, but I would also caution, don't allow obsessive concerns get too raging.
the vape industry is rampant with clones, copies etc. It might be impossible to determine authenticity. heck, I go into my grocery store.. MOST of the products are imported now. not good, but unless I can start doing all my own farming etc, I have little choice, other than to read labels, do the homework etc.

the important thing is.. is the product working?

i have a couple of high end RTA's that are now my main devices, but I still keep my large and mini nautilus in my rotation. the BVC coils were a huge upgrade to the original BDC. I understand that learning how to actually rebuild the BDC's makes a huge difference. I saved mine for a later date with playing with rebuilding.

just wanted to caution folks that may make a mountain out of a molehill. not to trivialize the issue, but it might be almost insurmountable. if it works, and your satisfied.. vape on!

For me it's about paying twice as much for an imposter.

I did this as well. I finally found a really smooth flavor ('Nilla Custard) and it is my first vape. :toast:
