Same. My two nautilus 5mls over 3 months old only show a tiny goldish where the screws thread. The chimney otherwise is still chrome. And this is with heavy daily use, chain vaping.

I really think that is a clone. None of my Nautilus mini's have any loss of nickel plating, and I clean, buff, them regularly. (I have a touch of cleanliness OCD).

Wasn't there a post in this thread that the silo also has a chromed brass chimney?

I use the Beyond Vape Silo Lite tanks and the chimney is one piece and there is only the top cap which is screwed on and the bottom is only the cap and coil which slides inside. I see no wear of the chimney. I might be wrong.

Yes, but nothing screws into the chimney. The chimney is part of the top cap. I'll no more when I refill and clean it out. If it doesn't screw in and out there is nothing to wear the finish off.

Where are you sourcing the Slotted or the old Dual Coils with Whiskers from?

Every coil package that I have received so far has the 4 Hole Coil type.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Try Sweet Vapes--they have all three kinds and they are very clearly marked. Other vendors carry them also, but it's often hard to tell which kind you're buying--when in doubt (the enclosed ones are usually listed as "Kanger dual coil upgrade" only, send them an email and ask.

Whiskers (best for rebuilding):

Kanger Dual Coils - Kanger Coils - Kangertech - Clearomizers Tanks

Enclosed (upgraded) with slots (best wicking) or with holes--you select the ones you want (resistance, quantity and holes) in the drop down box:

Fwiw, I just opened up both of my 3+ month old, heavily used (10+ ml a day) and inspected under brought light than previously. The threads inside the chimney are still perfectly chromed. No goldish tint at all.

Don't know if it matters but I NEVER clean them. Just swap coils. I'm still more concerned about the mystery fiberglass wicks though...

Well that's scary then--looks like pure brass, even on the outside. Maybe you have corrosive juices or clean too aggressively? I'd send those pics to aspire!

I already did. But I honestly doubt they will answer.
I can't tell about the juices and I wasn't cleaning it that aggressevily. I did clean it every 3-4 refills.
But even if I was cleaning it every day, it CLEARLY says in the manual that it is Stainless Steel.

I want my money back and never to hear again about Aspire.

Oh to be informed, then choose what we like, eh?

I only wish I enjoyed Kanger products, but alas, I do not. So I will stay with Aspire for now... (now could be 3 minutes, just by the way...) ;)

Considering all the ecig equipment you have 3 minutes is a long time for you Kat. I started with Kanger then some Kali girl got me into cartos. Now she is in Aspire Land.

They may want pictures of the packaging which your Nautilus came in (outside and inside of the packaging). Why? I believe there was a clone manufacturer that broke the scratch codes, thereby allowing the clone codes work on Aspire's authentication algorithm.

Now, I'm not 100% sure about the clone codes. But I have a suspicion because when I had questions about one of my Nautilus's that passed the scratch code, but still didn't look right, they did ask for package pictures with the serial number, and the inside of the box. Happily it turned out that I did have a genuine product, I was just being paranoid.

Remember, unless you bought the Nautilus directly from Aspire, you have to go back to your place of purchase for warranty issues. They should honor the mfg warranty and give you a new product. Then they send the bad part back to Aspire for exchange. If the place of purchase won't honor the warranty exchange, then you might be dealing with someone that isn't selling legitimate products. Or just a shifty reseller, and you should avoid them anyway.

Aspire has already admitted, publicly, on their forum, that the chimney (in original Nautilus tanks) is chrome-plated brass and that the chrome will eventually wear off... The question is no longer whether it's true or not, original or clone, but what they are going to do about it.

Good for the Atlantis.

What about all of us existing Aspire owners?

Also I have to wonder - the "Hollowed Steel" tube does not have a separate chimney assembly like the glass tube and full Stainless tube - it's one part with the tube. How do they attach a chrome/nickel-plated chimney to a SS tube, or is the whole thing not stainless steed? I'll have to peek inside next refill, maybe the chimney is just mechanically attached and sealed.

And can anyone comment on this statement: "First, the brass we use has CE and RoHS certifications, which is environmentally friendly material, and safe for human use in this application. " What is CE and RoHS certification?
EDIT: A simple Google answered my own question on the CE/RoHS: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091108201539AAzPOLl
Looks like it's European standards, and sounds like they're pretty strict - no lead, no hexavalent chromium, etc. IF this is true, I'm not concerned about the chimneys anymore.

The mystery-meat wick on the other hand.....

I was chatting with the owner of WorldOfVape, extremely friendly guy, his take on this whole plated brass chimney thing is that it's become an overblown internet meme and is not nearly as big a concern as people are making it out to be, and he uses Aspire Nautilses as his daily drivers. I didn't ask about the wick, I should've.

More information from Aspire:
Aspire - Futher inform about our Atlantis and future changes

The Atlantis is going to changed to be 100% Stainless Steel.

Also, the plating over the brass is nickel, not chrome on their other products.
