Why not just rebuild the stock Nautilus coils? I have been rebuilding them for years. I think the world of rebuildables has gone whanky. The Zepherus, Atlantis, Melo. Cubis, kanger Sub tank series as a few examples are easier to rebuild the stock coils than it is for doing their rebuildable heads. Not a stock coil today I can't rebuild. Makes me shake my head why people want to wrap wire around tinny littles screws when stock coils you bend a wire and put in rubber grommet and stick a bottom pin in and clip two wires. I don't get it unless you want Clapton coils in then most times they wont fit anyways under the tiny screws. Please enlighten me as I am confused. CHEERS!

Simple, the ability to change the cotton, pulse/clean the coil. That and run wire like fused Clapton's. Example, tried to put in a 32x2/36 fused Clapton in my stock crown coil. Nope, not going to fit. Where I can easily pop in a 28x2/34 in the RBA deck. Currently I'm running a 32x2*2/36 in it now. No way could I get that in the stock coil.

So yes there are plenty of reasons to have an RBA deck [emoji106] [emoji100]

    • I find the RBA actually easier to build on then rebuilding the stock coils
    • I think the RBA has better air flow
    • If your doing TC builds, the RBA provides a more robust (screws) termination of the coil wires
    • Contact coils can be dry burned while installed and then wicked
    • Cleaning is as easy as pull the hood and wick, burn, rewick
When I wish to rebuild itty-bitty atomizers I aim my sights on my collection of Aspire K1's.

VVTF has come out with a new version of the RBA that also fits the Kabuki now! I bought one for mine just to see how it works! It looks a little weird to build on but it now has the ability to house vertical and horizontal coils.
    Here's a couple of pictures. They're $9.90 on eBay.

Here it is installed in a Kabuki base and a Nautilus base.

It'll be a few weeks cause it's coming from China but I'll update as soon as I get it!

Just pre-ordered one myself. Says it'll be here mid May. Looking forward to it.

I just got my 10pack of v2's in the mail yesterday. What a huge disappointment. While I really only needed ~5 heads I'm glad that I got the 10pack as within the first hour I almost broke three of them while attempting to build. (sigh)

After taking a break and being resolved to not let these itty bitty things get the best of me, I tore down my first attemp. All the way down.
    • i found that full disassembly is key to getting a build installed
    • capturing a wire in the center pin is easier (fully disassembled)
    • a vert coil makes more sense than a horz one
    • it works better if the top center post insulator is installed and flush before installing the center post.
I now have 1.5 out of 5 needed built. The itty-bitty flat blade screws are a ginormous PITA. They do offer phillips replacements in the bag however using a phillips on the center post can make reinstalling the center post problematic.

Outside of now providing a vert option and being compatible with other tanks I wish I had gotten more of the v1's when they were available. Much easier to build on and wick. The major issue I had with the v1 was threading the 'hood' on while the wick was interfering.

My first impression is that these things are NOT for the faint of heart. I'll try to grab some images.

So rebuilding the stock coils are not that difficult? My mother in law uses those, however she is not looking to buy rtas. I plan on rebuilding her stock ones so she is ok with the fda bs.

While I was somewhat impressed with the V1 of the VVTF RBA the V2 won't thread onto my Nautilus mini or full size Nautilus. (complete FAIL)

Are there other tanks that DON'T use the atomizer/RBA threads to hold the tank on?
I bought these to go with some starter kits I'm making for friends and thought that the Nautilus was a good starter tank. While the tank still is a good choice, the RBA V2 is not. I don't mind getting something else that the RBA's will work with - they might rebuild/rewick the RBA but rebuilding factory coils would be a BIG push and I would not count on it.

    Ideas?
