The tails on the Magma wick are much longer and wick juice from wells, not channels.

Yes, that's true, but the main problem with learning wicking is learning the right amount to get into the coil -- I use the same 3/32 drillbit to make coils for both, so in that regard, the wicking is identical -- just longer tails on the Magma to hit the bottom of the well.

Caterpillar, don't forget to put a spare 15mm o-ring under the Magma's airflow control ring -- otherwise it will spin around and not stay set where you want it. I think that o-ring may also help just slightly with the leaking -- just don't fill the well over half full, or you'll have almost as much juice on your mod/hands as in the Magma. :D

The KGD (or Shiseido) is EXCELLENT for wicking the Magma. :thumb:

No argument there AT, as far as I know there is cotton in the BVC's, although due to the tiny size of the BVC's I'd guess far less than in an RTA build.

Could it all be in my mind? Quite possibly, but that still leaves me hating the taste I'm getting from my Kv4.

I've read hundreds of posts from people who can take any piece of cotton from their wives make up box and still get a great vape.

Even more from people who swear by KGD. So imagine how unhappy I am right now that I can't make a good vape!

What I don't get is how it could still be my wicking after re-wicking some 20 times, only going to 7 watts, and seeing the cotton is saturated when I remove the deck?

This is a very interesting thread. I have four Nautilus Mini's and began vaping before Nautilus went to the OCC. The original coils tasted pretty good and I was happy with the flavour, but the first time I tried the OCCs I hated the cotton after taste. I thought that it was just me and screwed up taste buds, because everyone else was praising the new coils and their amazing flavour. I 've learned, form my perspective, that the Nautilus OCCs have a "break-in" period. With a new coil, I have to vape a couple of ml of liquid before the cotton taste goes away; after that all is well.

Update Bump:

One happy vaper here! :)

I've made several new builds and or re-wicks now, and it's all good!

Getting a great vape out of my Vapor Flask - Kayfun v4 combo.

I completely gave up on the method I saw on You-Tube; combing and fanning out the tails, cutting them precisely to tickle the deck.

Thankfully the way that works for me is much quicker.

No fanning or combing. slide the cotton in, cut the tails approximately, a little longer than needed.

Gently press the tails into a tube. Push them down the chimney.

Hey presto, a great vape!

Thanks again to all who gave advise. :)

The cotton density is way to thin, and the tails are to short.

I agree with this.
Always liked mine snug in the coil.
I use the KGD and I think my juice tastes like its meant to taste, ( most of it I make myself).

Thank you guys, you were spot on!

Just took me a while to realise. :)
