From my observation, the air hole falls below the lip of the ceramic. But if you see it isn't feeding, just stick a small screwdriver in and jiggle the wick a bit. This happened to me once, but I'm not sure if it was the wick covering the hole or just overfilling the tank, which leads - in any tank, with any carto insert - to no air pressure to push down on the juice.
I have a small army of high end attys, and have another small army of abandoned disposable atomizers, Protanks, iClears, and Vivi Novas, but the VCV Nightshift vapor coming out of my Divers is just insane. Seriously, this is the combo to use when you want to convert an analog user to vaping. It's like a mix of semi-sweet Valrhona chocolate and a sweetened Brazilian espresso.

There were no poles pins in stock today for me to add to my order. Which leads me to believe I am sure to lose one soon.
