Taking a big atty like an Ithaka and building all kinds of multi-coil sub-ohm monstrosities is easy. But who's got the cojones to Dr. Frankenstein a Diver?

I just built a dual coil Diver, 36g Kanthal A-1 and 30g Silver NR (using silver crimps - never zapping again) around 1mm Ekowool. I have one coil curved around each side of the ceramic, leaving a small gap between the coils for air to come through. Each Ekowool wick has a single long leg (Tirbuson). I'm not sure yet if the vape is any more awesome than a single coil configuration... but the Scuba is feeding the coils Pluid like a champ, and the draw is ever so slightly tighter, probably because of the slightly reduced airflow from all the wick and wire in the ceramic.

This guy...Bishopheals. He is an ECF member and a Ithaka champion. He has many youtube videos and offers any Ithaka help on a thread here. He is a great guy.

Yup, I learned using his videos. Perhaps he can heal me of this obsession with pushing the Diver to infinity and beyond. I've never been obsessed with any other atty. I guess it's because the Diver is meant to be easy and straight forward - which it is - and I see it as a challenge.

Yes, there's something wrong with me. Ya'll should ignore me, I've gone over the edge. ;)

I'd love to see your coils, pictures please?

Why do you prefer crimping to welding? I love my DIY welder and I'm really good at using it to weld Kanthal (wire and ribbon) and nickel (even on the fly if the join breaks while winding my coil). I haven't tried silver - perhaps when I run out of nickel in the year 2027.

I did the same with the Spheroid and still do. Obsessed period. I will have another one on Monday. I have used many fillers and even more wick configurations with different medium. It never stops. :)

Just finished the new wick on the Diver. I only left an inch in the tube. I finally understand why now brother, nice.

Disaster on the high seas.
A Tsunami like rogue wave took my super mega Diver totally unprepared and almost drowned it.
After some more days, this time without any use (before i used it at least once a day) the big one hit without warning. The NORAD was down for scheduled maintenance.
I believe that slowly but surely the big fat wick had reached it's breaking point and could take no more.
The first few days by using it once or twice a day as the doctor recommends, it never had the chance to absorb all it could juice.
After leaving it untouched for at least 48 hours, when i tried again, the now forgotten but still familiar gurgle welcomed me like an old and dear friend.
I thought to myself, no biggie i'll suck it up till it quits.
I feel though that the semi sucky Wizard switch that misfires unless i clear my throat and apply a high velocity well aimed bowl of coating compound to my overly dry indexes have induced the taking of a couple dry hits, that only precipitated and enhanced the deluge, but the thing is after some half arsed unconvincing puffs i had to stop as the 510 connection got shorted up by the flow of the unleashed raging tidal wave of none other than Ahlusion's own, well steeped chocolate hazelnut, pure heavenly ambrosia that only the Gods on top of Mount Olympus and a few other connoisseurs use and abuse.
So colossal it was that i could not vape away the excess as i usually do.
So for me, back to square one. New coil (the ADN), new approach.

PS. It's little brother, my backup weapon, is fine and dandy (same wick setup) in a 16mm OD, regular length tank. No traces of misbehavior. Yet.
And possibly a relevant detail that might have had something to do with the catastrophe; the juice used was 90/10 PGVG.

When I finish the tank, I'll take the Diver out and snap a pic.

I bought a zapper in the classies - not a tsaf - and it takes an enormous amount of effort to get a decent weld. I think my zapper is crap. I've seen others with the tsaf and with other zappers do this just fine, so I've placed myself on the list for the new tsaf. But I must say, using the silver crimp method is pretty easy, and creates unbreakable wires very quickly. And the crimps are dirt cheap, I just bought 500 of them on Amazon for around $20.

@andrebandre: i know a lot of people who use Diver with 80%PG-20%PG without a problem. So i dont think this causes leakage. Your description is unique :)

@hkifuos: we dont suggest this kind of set-up. About the leakage pls check that your ceramic sit firmly in the upper insulator after u put the pin

I too built a .6 ohm dual coil on a diver (Bishopheals style) I agree the vape is not any better than a single 1 ohm coil, but IMHO, it's because the diver does not afford enough air flow for these coils. I have done the same build on a killer (which has a lot of air flow control) and it worked great as far as vapor production and flavor, but in both cases, at least for me...juice flow could not keep up. But, I guess this is not what the diver is made for...It is an awesome vape in stock configuration.

A nifty and quick way to build wires is shown here by Scott. He is building for a GG Ody in the video but, same principles apply.
he is one of my favorite reviewers especially since he fixed his teeth (after this video was made)!

Starting around 6:26 he begins with wire explanation and around 8:00 is when he begins building wire.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kZVFOA-X7c

He is a very knowledgeable vapor and does the cleanest videos with the best descriptions around.
