Why do I think it's so complicated? because I watched the coil building tutorial and I saw how needlessly complicated it is.

RBAs/RTAs are a simple process, and the general trend of their design is KISS.... Keep it simple, stupid.

I'm all for innovation, but the WAVE looks ridiculous to me. I can coil/wick any of my RTAs in half the time it took that demonstrator in the video. Innovation should improve on something from previous attempts. It should provide one or more of the following goals:

1. Easier to use
2. better performance
3. cheaper cost.

So, which one(s) does it improve?

The concept of wrapping the wire around the stub post, followed by wrapping the coil around a rod, then fixing the other lead to the "crenellations" (are you serious?) just seems absurd. Even the "professional" demonstrator had a hard time with it.

What's getting to me is suddenly I can't see up close now. I had to get my first pair of reading glasses, but now I have to remember to put them on. Last month I couldn't find the post holes on my Aqua v2, so finally bought a pair. I would see them, then bring the base closer to me to install the coils and they would become invisible, lol! Oy, getting old sucks.

I see your point, yes. However, at each of these points I thought I see Atmizoo's point too, i.e. why they did it like this. I don't know what crenellations are (but I am a non-native anyway :D ) - you don't need a screwdriver (actually you don't need any instruments as they are built in, so to speak). No toothpick, no coil jig.

And optimizing cotton-coil-contact - seriously, I thought this is a good idea given the manifold problems resulting from too much cotton or, alternatively, not enough cotton.

But who am I to talk about something I did not try - just a small spot of nebula :p . Anyway, this is how I virtually assessed the Wave.

@roxynoodle - never mind, I need two glasses on top of each other when rebuilding.

I have a ni temp build set up right now that is working well. I essentially did it the same at my build video that was posted earlier, just slightly tighter coil and more wraps.

I, personally, still prefer kanthal builds over temp builds, but thats just personal preference.

Wish I would have gotten in on this proto. Sounds challenging and I can't wrap my head around the concept without it in my hands with the videos

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk

I will say, it is a LOT easier than it looks.. The first few build may leave you frustrated, but after a minute you get the hang of it and find the right amount of cotton to use and your perfect position for the wire. After that its pretty simple.

A word of advise when starting out is to make sure everything is going with the threads.

Meaning your top wire that is connecting to the positive post goes on so when you tighten that top nut, it take the wire with it instead of pushing it out.

Same goes for you negative connection wire. Per my video and my method of doing it, make sure when threading the tube back onto the base, that wire tail is facing a direction that will keep it from getting caught in the threads.

so I've watched all the videos and I think I finally understand the point...

Tool-less coil building!

Awesome! so all you need to build the Wave is:

1. Scissors
2. Wire cutters
3. Proprietary "sleeve" tool/mandrel
4. Long pointy tool like a screwdriver (but not necessarily a screwdriver ;))

Looks like they got that pesky screwdriver problem solved.....

Then, when it's done, you have a poorly made coil to vape with! Yay!

And, it even has juice flow control and air flow control conveniently located INSIDE the tank!

I can't wait to see a real youtube review of this trainwreck. :pop:

I took the liberty of editing your post.

Tool-less coil building!

Awesome! so all you may choose to use to build the Wave is:

1. Scissors - If you pre-cut some wicks you don't need scissors every time. I keep a container of pre-cut wicks next to my Kayfun building tools...doing the same for the WAVE has been no different.
2. Wire cutters - Twisting the wire off is a very viable option, used by many, on plenty of other devices.
3. Proprietary "sleeve" tool/mandrel - Admittedly a pain in the --- to keep track of...but not necessary for the equally viable horizontal build.
4. Long pointy tool like a screwdriver (but not necessarily a screwdriver [emoji6]) - Even a toothpick will suffice.

Looks like they got that pesky screwdriver problem solved.....

Then, when it's done, you have a DIFFERENT BUT EFFECTIVE coil to vape with! Yay!

And, it even has juice flow controlconveniently located INSIDE the tank, easily accessed by sliding the tank up, for quick changes WHEN NEEDED. The middle option is a very all-terrain setting, handling high VG liquids with ease.
Airflow control is clearly, and obviously, located at the drip tip.

I can't wait to see a real YouTube review of this strange but fascinating new take on a rebuildable tank atomizer, after having spent the last two years seeing the same exact ideas painted up as "innovation" after the birth of the Kayfun. :pop:

I really couldn't have said it better myself!

My point is, I've been waiting for this device since hearing of its conceptual birth years ago. I was up very early in the morning to purchase (yes PURCHASE) it. I was very eager to test it along with the other folks who managed to snag a test slot.
I am fully aware that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however, someone with ZERO experience with this device should probably keep that opinion to his or herself.
After all, spouting negativity is very unfair to those who have been awaiting this test period, those who have been enjoying it, and those who have criticism for it (because believe me, I sure do).
Judging this device based on build videos and pictures is a foolhardy thing to do, as it has exceeded my expectations in many areas, and has room for improvement in others. But I've only found that through ACTUALLY TESTING IT, and not looking down at it from a high horse.
This isn't a personal attack, but just a reminder that this device is:
A. New. From a mostly original concept, and from a company known for innovative solutions to common problems overlooked by the masses.
B. Still in its testing phase. Granted they've basically said it's already in production, but this testing phase will yield some benefit towards improvements needed.
So please, public forum or not, just remember there's a time and place to speak ill of an item you've never even touched...and having never touched the WAVE, this isn't your time or place.

Yes, to be honest, my first thought was, "I don't think I'm bored enough to want to build this." :D I watched a few minutes of the vertical build. Love the creepy black gloves.

That's saying something! I thought you were always looking for a challenging atty, roxynoodle :p

This thing is the antithesis of my ideal atomizer ... But I'm enjoying the thread :)

Well, at least when I make the effort on my other challenging attys, I'm confident I'll be rewarded when I'm done :D On this, I have a feeling I won't be! I think the liklihood of time consuming epic fail is high.

I would rather keep putting quad verticals into Aromamizers :)

I took the liberty of editing your post.

Sorry, HBcorpse. But I liked my unedited post better. :)

The view from up on my high horse is outstanding! You should climb up here sometime and take a look around!

I'm not trying to pee in anyone's soup. Nor am I flaming anyone personally.

I sincerely feel sorry for anyone who purchased the beta test of this device. I know how it feels to be excited for a new item, just to be completely disappointed in the end product.

Good luck and vape on!

Ah, but the comments in your unedited version were made from the ignorance of having no personal experience with this device.

The view from up on my high horse is outstanding! You should climb up here sometime and take a look around!
I'll pass, but thanks for the offer! I'd rather stay grounded in reality, where I can actually try new things, instead of judging them from pictures and videos.

I'm not trying to pee in anyone's soup. Nor am I flaming anyone personally.
That makes two of us...and we are probably the only two on ECF with that mentality.

I sincerely feel sorry for anyone who purchased the beta test of this device.
Ah, but buying into the Beta was a CHOICE, made by those looking to help a company improve a product. At least this company had the courtesy to hold an open testing/feedback session, rather than just pumping out some ill-conceived garbage and expecting the community to just accept it.

I know how it feels to be excited for a new item, just to be completely disappointed in the end product.
Then that experience is something we share. However, my logic comes from needing/wanting to try something before judging it. Some of my most favorite things in life have come from unexpected things such as this.
Do I have criticism for the WAVE? I sure do. But have a found myself another viable option to add to my arsenal of enjoyable vape devices? I sure have. In my 6 years of vaping, I can say that this device gives me as much satisfaction as my Kayfuns. Yes it's weird, but it does work.

Good luck and vape on!
I will...on my WAVE! [emoji12]
