Every time I screw on my RSST I either got an atomizer short message or a no atomizer found message... all my other clearomizers or tanks work fine and I've been using my RSST for month without problems now all of a sudden it has completely crapped on me. Its driving me nuts. It has been happening for about 4 days now, And at first I was able to just turn it till I found a sweet spot But now it doesn't work at all. Grrrrrr does anyone have some advice on this ???? I've cleaned the contacts and even the o ring under the center post of the evic and still nothing :'( thanks for whatever advice you guys can give

Lets think about this logically.
Does the eVic work with other atomizers? If yes, the eVic is okay.
Does the RSST work on another Battery?

Have you tried reading the coil with a Decent multimeter?
Are you aware a coil can short at any time? Even in an isolated opening the coil can short on the WICK and will cause artificially low ohms readings.(well, not really artificial)

eVic is a Smart tool, like a smart phone. It is designed to do as programmed Not as you may desire. If loaded below its threshold it will read a SHORT.

I'd suggest reworking the wick/coil to alleviate the issue before damaging the eVic and make sure you have a bit of the screw below the 510 threading.

I have a new wick that I guess I'll try. I made it last time this problem was happening and it didn't make a difference. Still "shorts" like crazy. And Its obviously not a short when the stupid thing works only when I find some ridiculous spot when I thread it together.

Sorry, but I really don't even understand why you are trying to use an RSST on an electronic Mod.
Tanks and Mechanical Mods go Hand-in-Hand

A Vivi Tank with a 1.8ohm or even a 2.2ohm coil would kick the RSST in the .... on the eVic.

ETA - here is your simple test.
eVic OFF
Install Tank
Wiggle wick out of coil(twisting should work)
Power eVic on
Get coil Ohms reading

If it isn't shorting you should see this on start up.
If No short reading - Fire test coil. Should glow orange.
If all is good, insert wick.............and watch it short again.:D

Heavily Torch the Coil area of the Wick to prevent wick shorting.

You Cannot Season a wick to coil on the eVic - it will keep detecting short and stop output. This MUST be done on a Mechanical battery.

.

Well I can do this on a Provari, Vamo and a multitude of other mods.
Rebuildables aren't a problem on electronic mods if they're working properly...

Well I can also - key is if the TANK, not the mod is working properly. Provari and Vamo will both report shorts if they exist. Fact is it is Recommended to get the yank working correctly on a Mechanical, then if you want to run it on an electronic, go ahead. Still, you need to know the limits of whatever device you are using.

An EVIC really has a low end of around 1.3 OHMs as a cutoff for not reporting a short. I did get a 1.0 OHM coil to work intermittently on an EVIC, but i got random short errors thrown also. I'd say it worked 60% of the time with a 1.0 OHM aga-t coil. EVIC never got hot at all with this setup either, just a huge battery drain. I found the sweet spot for my EVIC is around 1.5 to 2.5 OHMs give or take a little. I personally have no complaints running my coils in that range. I also find that I burn out my low OHM coils very quickly with the way I vape. IMO most of these limitations and specs are listed by Joyetech openly or in replies from queries with their support. I have an EVIC and did a lot of research here before buying. I will get a mech mod in the future, but probably just for convenience when I just don't feel like fiddling with the vv/vw. I would also check your contacts for residue or dirt. You could also have a little wandering OHM syndrome if your on the edge of the EVIC's OHM limits.

Good luck finding a fix

hey there. no guarantees this is the solution. but my evics been giving me issues as well lately. namely giving the same exact problem with my terminator tank (stupid shorts- works on other batteries).

I do alot of swapping of flavors (i.e. clearos and RBA RDA's etc) .. the evic's 510 threads are SUPER SOFT. BE CAREFUL!!! i've not cross threaded manually but i think my terminator-c tank's weight shifted and GRINDED DOWN some of the threads :( :( ... i used the collar to support the weight, but alas it seems it was not enough. almost none of my tanks or clearos that USED TO WORK do not work anymore (some even just pop off outa the 510 connect) . some short. some report insane ohms. Some i can hold with my hand down and work...

i tried using some 510/510/ego extension adaptors (nice and deep threads oversized) and viola. works. no short. thus im waiting (a looooooong time) for my shipment of this air flow controller hopefully this solves the wonky soft ... threads of the evic and solves the "short" issue.
