Today I ordered the ones I believe to be the exact ones originally on the Chameleon. 15 of those for $3 shipped. Hopefully they will be here in three days.

Where did you find them? I've been looking around for tact switches too. My local RadioShack and Fry's don't have anything that would work.

I came across these...

These are the ones I got today from eBay. So will know in a few days if they are the right ones or not. We measured every part of the original and the guy says these are the same. We will see.

These are the ones Isaac recommends
Tact Switch Vertical Shaft length: 3.5mm | BTS-1102B (BTS1102B) | Distributed By MCM

The only difference is the shaft length, the ones Isaac recommends are 3.5mm which is a tad shorter than the original. The ones I got today are 5mm which match the original.

It was confusing because one gives the shaft measurement and one gives the overall height, but a few emails cleared that up LOL

Edit... I'm using one of the ones Isaac recommends and it works great, I just don't like the shorter button. If you carry it in your pocket the shorter button has it's advantages though. Less chance of misfire.

Nice find! I think the switch body is 3.5mm high on these kinds of switches. If so, I think that would make this button 1mm longer the the ones Isaac uses (3.5 + 4.5 makes 8).

Here's a diagram with dimensions... http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/MS-100599.pdf

They wanted $9 to ship a 0.20 part. I didn't like that really :)

Yup, I've been looking for one that is 0.5mm longer but didn't find anything.

$9 to ship is why I said don't order any, I have extras :) I ordered 10 to at least spread the shipping out.

The guy on eBay has other sizes, he has a 7 and a 7.3 if the 8 is too long. And his shipping is free :)

Wow... 7.3... that's probably about right for me... a smidgen longer than the ones Isaac has and a smidgen shorter the the originals.

Yum... I haven't had this Blackberry Champagne flavor in a while. The LR901 is just great for this type of flavor.

LOL Wow! Help a friend move out of house for a morning and miss all this!
Isaac, when are you expecting more LR 901's?
Hey Swipp! I was meaning to call you today buddy. :) They should be here in just about a week my good man. I really wish I had some too! or I would give you some! lol My little atty collection NEEDS labels! lol
I'm not against innovation, without it we would all still be smoking now wouldn't we? Perhaps a better point to raise would be:

Where to draw the line in the sand?

When I see what is happening at times I just shake my head in total confusion and frustration. Maybe the latter is due to a lack of one of 'em 3999 chemicals I am not getting. How knows?

It's not so much about choice, but more on where to secure a performing quality product consistently, and 3-6 months from now that I am interested in, and worried about.
You can say that again Switch, 3 months I can see, 6 of solid use, I just don't know man. Now if we used nuclear technology.....Hmmm, but joking aside, you do have a valid point though. I was just watching a few videos on some pretty wild modding to components and as it appears wild, I may be just staring from an old fashioned perspective and honestly, when I First heard that there were people "Tail-piping" Which means to use no cartridge or plastic tip insert on their atomizers, my immediate thought was "They're nuts!" Sure some people get hurt along the way of these pretty radical idea's, but in a way we're all pioneers of this industry. It's alot like life, ya know. Adjustments and acceptance. :D
Wow, busy thread, almost missed this question for me.

I use the blue foam (marine land rite size U stuff) for the 401, 901, and 510. It does have an off taste, but that can be taken care of with boiling water and some patience. After boiling (couple of minutes), rinsing, soaking (several hours) in filtered water, no more tainted flavor. Actually I run it thru the boil, rinse, soak cycle a few times, until the water its soaking in tastes good to drink.

But the blue foam sleeves are too thin for the 801, so I picked up a block of a foam filter product made by Hagen. It's black and has a similar cell structure as the blue foam (slightly larger cells).

Hagen Elite Mini Underwater Filter Foam at PETCO

I boiled, rinsed, soaked this stuff too. I cut a rectangular block out that is...
- not as long as the cart is deep
- nearly equal width to the cart opening in one dimension (about 8 or 9 mm)
- somewhat wider in the other dimension (about 14 mm)

It's in the cart now, so those aren't exactly measurements, but you get the shape of it. I choose that shape because that's the basic shape of the blue foam bits that work well in the 901,510 carts... but scaled up for the 801. I compress it along one dimension to insert it into the cart. The black Hagen foam is working reasonably well. I'm having some issues with the LR801 atty running too hot more than the foam not wicking reasonably at this point.

I saw the AquaClear foam (its white'ish), but decided to get a foam with a smaller cell structure that is closer to what the blue foam looks like (since it works so well with all of my other carts).

Really my answer to the "vaping preference" thread should have been, whichever pairing of atty and battery MOD happens to be working the best of my current collection of stuff on any given day. Today, its a LR901 (running less hot than the LR801, and not having wicking issues like my 2nd LR510 (the first is solely underperforming now unless I throw it on the 5v passthru)) on my backup 16340 MOD (which is not having voltage drop issues like my Chameleon is (i think I need a new switch)).
Just beautiful Vm! I really really Want to try this! Especially for the 10-12 hour ride we're going to have to endure! How long would you say they can run w/out needing a refill/top-off?

Uh oh on the Switch! but I see your heading to take the little guy head on! If you Need anything, Anything at all please don't hesitate to get me good sir or any of us for that matter! lol I do have an incomplete button here, so if you lose any pieces, we may have you covered my friend. Remember, in between the brass half moon rings, there is a very thin plastic insert. Another side note: The new Chameleon, is aimed to have interchangeable parts and those parts will be up on the site with their individual listings such as reservoir cone, mechanical switch, etc.

Thanks Wway! We'll give these a shot too! I was going to say, the Chameleons' manufacture actually sands down the original buttons they use. Lately, I have been offering both types for button replacements. When I take one on a road test, the button accidentally gets pushed in all the time! Real Road test!

Mmm thirsty for liquids! I ordered 90ml of gourmet liquid, and burned 3 atoms! I'm on day 2! Very upsetting

Why is that my man?

I'm just not big on two-tone, it's just not my style. I obviously wouldn't refuse buying something that's two-toned since I currently do own a Chameleon with brass adapters, but if I had it my way, adapters would either match the body of Chameleon or the color of atomizers. I guess that's just one more thing I like about 801 atties that they go over the adapter and almost cover it completely. But again, that's just a matter of personal preference.

EDIT: I do like two-tone look with colors in the same family, like light grey with dark grey or chrome with titanium just not gold/silver combo so much
