So, I have been wondering this for a while. I love cartomizers - the convenience, and the ease of use.

But from what I gather, atomizers/dripping is the best way to taste a new flavor.

What I want to know:

- Is there a difference between dripping and using atomizers?
- If not, what is the best atomizer for the 808, and more specifically, an SI Volt setup?

Thanks guys.

I have asked the same questions. As i understand it, you need an atomizer to drip. there are no atomizers designed for an 808. that gives you two choices: 1. get an adapter for a few bucks so devices designed for another thread (510 has the most options) can be used with your 808 batts. 2. get a 901 atomizer, which can be used with a manual, but not an automatic, 808 batt.

Problem, you probably need variable volt capacity to fully enjoy the dripping experience. There are no VV 808 threaded devices. Therefore the only way to fully experience dripping is to get a VV batt, e.g. a 510 threaded ego twist (which doesn't give you a full range of voltage but should give u a good idea what it is like) for $20 or $25, a charger and an atomizer for $5 or $10 apiece, and adapter for a few bucks so you can use the twist with your 808 carts. Best case about $40 plus postage for the bare minimum set up. The atomizer might only last 1 to 3 weeks.

you may get hooked on the 510 experience, go for a higher end VV device for $50 to $150, rebuildable attys for $15 to $20 each and maybe experiment with tanks and all kinds of exotic devices. You may end up building your own mods and opening an internet store.

I'm not there yet, you may have guessed that i've shopped online, in fact, just a few clicks away from taking the leap. I've gone in another direction for now. i've started making my own juices, with a preference for high Vg juices. this means i'm cutting my vaping costs instead of increasing them. Anyway, I always was better at cooking than mechanics.

901 attys will fit and work fine on an 808 batt, but I wouldn't drip on a gen-1 (V4L, V2, etc.) or older-style gen-2 (Volt, Bloog, G6, etc.) auto batt with the hole in the middle of the center connector post. I gather most/all gen-2 808 vendors now have the drip-resistant ("sealed") auto connector design, and I know a guy who uses a de-stuffed Volt carto to drip on his Volt auto batt with no problems, as long as he's careful not to flood the atty and is meticulous about keeping his connectors clean.

Also, using 901 attys with sealed auto 808 batts must have a slot across the batt's center connector post to allow enough airflow to activate the suction switch. My sealed auto Volt has this slot, but I've seen some that are flat; I'm not sure what their standard is now, so you might ask in their vendor subforum here or email them about it.

To answer your first question you can have an atty and not drip if you use a cartomizer. I do both I use a small amount of blue foam in place of the polyfill. Then I drip around two drops on the bridge of the atomizer and two on top of the blue foam. This lasts me quite a few drags and each of them is very flavorful. As soon as the flavor drops off I put it away. When I feel like vaping again, I pull it out and repeat the process.

I don't know about the volt but I would imagine there must be adapters someplace. I love dripping and with a LR atty on a 3.7 device you are pretty much at the sweet spot at least until battery power starts to go down. So you do have to change batteries more often. I use big battery mods so it's not a problem. I started out dripping over 3 years ago and then tried just about everything else and ended up back dripping over the last year. It's just that I seem to always want that full flavored hit that I only get consistently from dripping.

Good luck.

I drip on 808's more than I use cartomizers. I use a standard resistance 901 atomizer - 901 threads are the same as 808 and you can get these attys at a lot of places online. I get mine from healthcabin.com.

You don't want to use a low resistance atty on a cig style battery - it'll kill the battery.

My atty doesn't work on my volt auto batteries tho. It just won't fire the atty. It may work for you with a manual volt battery, if you have one. I don't have one yet to try. I've been using a kanger sealed auto and an unsealed 808 (shh, don't tell the vape police) I got with my original kit to drip with until I get some manual batteries, and it works well for me. My poor cartomizers are being neglected.
