Atomizers: Heat / Ultrasonic / Both?

I hate posting in the main section, I figured that you modders would know better anyway. I've been studying this stuff for a few months now and there's still a few things that I can't figure out.

It seems that almost every atomizer I've seen here is just some version of a heat coil + wire mesh. While the original Ruyan patent for an atomizer is an ultrasonic device, there are hardly any references to ultrasonics on the forum. I've read anecdotal posts that the mist made by ultrasonics has larger drop size and thus doesn't vape well. So what's the deal? Do ultrasonics suck, or are heat coils just cheaper, or are all atomizers ultrasonic/heat and I just didn't notice?

No, they're all heat coils so far as I know.

Perhaps heating elements was really cheaper at the time, and did same job... It would be interesting to encounter a ultrasonic atomizer though, I guess it would be more expensive but virtually indestructible... Perhaps having atomizers wear over time was more cost effective in "parts sale" point of view!

There was talk form a ruyan supplier that the ruyan v-8 actually has an ultrasonic atomizer.
A fellow old timer had a v-8 and when it dies he ripped it apart to see what all the fuss was about it being a ultrasonic atty, fact is , the v-8 is the same as any other atty , just a heater coil.

I'm not sure PG would work with ultrasonic. My understanding is that ultrasonic units degrade as you introduce impurities and PG should qualify as an impurity.

I have some PG for my fogger that I can try dripping onto an ultrasonic humidifyer and see what happens.

Yeah, maybe switched from water and ultrasonic to PG and heat coil for the exact same reason I mention before... More supplies to sell ;-)
