I hear you. I wish they took the same flat top batteries as the rest of my mods I would probably have a few by now. If you keep an eye on the site the gold zincote 2.5 comes with the extension which I got and that is an awesome deal. I use mine with a nautilus mini it's not that bad.
I'd jump if I got that deal. Always wanted to try a Provari, if just to see what the hubbub is all about.

The 2.5s only use button tops? Didn't know that.

Whats the main reason why you guys use Temp Control? Is it just for avoiding dry hits, or do you actually like the overall flavor better etc? I never tried temp control before.. I just use regular kanthal type stuff.
For me it's mainly consistency. The vape is the same from start to finish. As for taste, I'm one of those who notice no difference between kanthal, ni200, titanium, or ss.

The Provari seems like a solid mod. In all honesty though I am not that impressed with its limitations and functionality.
Yes not only does it require button tops but IMR is what Provape recommends and they are kinda difficult to find and a little pricey.
Those are AW batteries. IMR is their chemistry (lithium-manganese), safer than the older ICR chemistry (lithium-cobalt) and not exclusive to AW batteries. The price of the Provari 2.5 seconds is indeed enticing, but I don't feel like getting button top batteries just for that single mod, it doesn't fit my vaping style anymore, and I'd be hit with customs and VAT making it way more expensive in the end. I have my mech mods for durability, and they don't have the limitations the Provari has. Don't use them anymore really, but I usually bring one with me when traveling, just in case...

I only have limited experience with TC, but like KenD said, for me it's consistency - and more. I like that I can basically vape a tank dry (as in pull on it until little to no vapor is produced), put in a new flavor (provided it is not TOO different) and be off and running with minimum overlap between flavors and without changing wick or coil. I like that I don't have to contend with a burnt wick, even if I accidentally vape a tank dry. It also seems to me that I get much less gunk on my coils when running in TC mode, which allows me to run the coils much longer than my kanthal coils. I ran one pre-made nickel coil for more than 5 weeks before switching it out.

Haven't tried building my own TC coils yet, though. I've got some stainless wire coming in so I'll hopefully get to try it soon enough. (Umm....if the KM v3 cooperates..heh.)

Provape recommends IMR batteries no matter the brand.;)
Unfortunately there aren't a whole lot of decent brands available with that chemistry.

Hybrid chemistry batteries are equally safe, nearly all batteries recommended for vaping. It's ICR batteries you'll want to avoid. A mod won't care about the chemistry, it's solely for your safety if something unexpected happens. It is somewhat difficult to find good button top batteries though.

Edit: where do they recommend IMR batteries though? Can't find it on their webpage, and they sell both Efest batteries (not IMR even though they're labelled as such, and overall a bad buy) and Samsung 25r (hybrid, not IMR).

As promised.
Who doesn't love vape mail?

As you can see the Gold 316SS SKU4430900 comes in a simple white box with a set of orings.
The SXK SKU4424400 comes in a very nice box with extra screws, glass, and orings. With a Chinese screw undriver.

A size comparison.Thats a Lemo2 on the right.I had a feeling the golds weren't going to match but it doesn't look as bad in person.I am not real happy about the gap between the atty and Provari though as it is substantial. The beauty ring does not work with this combo but looks great on the SXK/StingrayX.

I deleted the wrong pic so this one is a tad blurry.

The SKX version has definitely got better machining and finish.

If I had to do it all over I would not have opted for the Gold version. It doesn't match my mod which was the whole reason I purchased it, and the gold finish does not completely cover the base meaning when you unscrew the airflow you see the SS.There is no question the SXK version is the better looking of the two. When looking at them side by side I get the impression that one is a clone and the other is not. While most people probably won't care about the slight differences in machining and finish the fact that you get the beauty ring, extra screws, and glass make this an easy choice for me even if they vape the same.If you have any questions I will be happy to try and answer them.I will update here when I have put a few laps on them.:)

Good point I was just assuming the IMR chemistry effected the performance of the battery.
It's in the description for all 2.5s.
Designed to work with the AW IMR high drain batteries.

That's the red AW batteries they're recommending, not IMR chemistry batteries per se.
