If you want a black KM3, VapeNW has them for $15 and a flat rate shipping of $5 (from the US). I got 2 of them and they've been working really well. I also built the black FT one after sanding off the coating with a .41Ω SS and it seems to be reliable now. I would still recommend the Tobeco over the FT though.
What are your settings when using SS? What temp and Watts? I'm messing around with my SS lately and it's working pretty good so far. Just curious what everyone else sets theirs at.

Glad I saw your post! I ordered 2 of the SS version from FT and was going to get 2 of the black ones from FT, but ordered the Tobecco cloned from VapeNW instead. Wasn't much of a price difference. I'll eat the extra $10 for quality and faster shipping. lol

I have 5 tanks (of 12 in daily rotation) with SS 316L 26g coils now. I've been trying 2.5mm to 3mm ID coils, all at around .38Ω to .42Ω. They're all on DNA200 or DNA75 mods. 25w, 50w preheat for 1s and 450°F. I think the 3mm ID coils are doing a little better than the 2.5mm ID coils.

The Tobeco versions are overall much better quality so they're worth the extra few bucks. I've had them for about a month now and they're solid atomizers. I'm hoping the v5 is as good because the 2ml capacity is too small.

Hello, KTM! :)

There are three versions of the K5 on the market already--SXK on FT, SMJY on 3F and a Tobeco (only on Alibaba ATM).

We even have a thread, but it's been very quiet.

Attack of the (Kayfun V5) Clones!

I like the deck and the increased capacity of the K5, but I'm a bit apprehensive about increased airflow. Any thoughts?

Hey Kat! :)

I've seen them ;). I have a SXK version from FT on order. I'm waiting for a black Tobeco version to show up. I did think about ordering 10 from Alibaba

I saw that thread too but I'm trying not to be too active on this site anymore other than the threads I'm already on. I've heard the airflow at the lowest setting is slightly more airy than a KFL+ so it should be fine for me. I use both KF4 and KM3 wide open.

. . .

The FT one is ok...... nothing to write home about..... but it works.

I do get that soppy weeping sort of mess on the bottom around the roundish rectangle. I'm not sure what is stemming that sort of leakage. I wipe it off, say a coupla swear words, then on with my vape.

If there's an EASY fix, guys, please let me know. My most advanced power tool is a letter opener.

. . .

Finding liquid weeping out from around the "roundish rectangle" is a sign that the space above it (where the airflow screw is located) probably contains a good bit of liquid that should be wiped up. One thing you can do to minimize the amount of liquid that collects in there is to make sure that the positive pin assembly is tightly screwed in. A 5mm socket is ideal, but make sure you don't let the positive block touch the walls surrounding the deck. Some have reported some success with using a slightly thicker o-ring there.

I check - and if necessary clean - that area out whenever I change the wick.

Where do you buy the socket tool? Anybody have a sku so I can order one on fastech?
I have looked but no luck
Any decent hardware store. The "nut" is unusually shallow though, so try before you buy. The one I use can just barely hold on to the "nut".

Screwdriver type - as opposed to rachet - is probably best in this case, but either is probably ok if the socket can hold on to the "nut". You could also try a pair of needle nose locking pliers or even a well-made regular pair of pliers in a pinch, but a socket is best, imo.

I'm finding the SS heats up quicker than kanthal. Do you see this also?

You don't even need the socket if you get just the bit driver that is meant to hold the screwdriver bits it fits perfectly. Like this one, pretty common you may even have one lying around.

Yea ricks, same gauge wire heats much quicker then Kanthal, seems to take less power to do it as well, SS wire is very versatile, TC, power mode, works great.

I'm noticing my batteries lasting much longer with it too. I think I need get more SS wire.
