Pardon the dumb question, but can I use SS just like kanthal without Temp control?
NO dumb questions in here. From what I hear, Yes. I'm currently using it in power mode on some of my mods. I use it in Temp control on my sbody Macro only.

Great price for 100ft of SS at Lightening vapes... Just ordered some. Lovin SS!
That's where I got my SS wire when they had a 50% off sale. I do like SS so far. I can't really compare it to kanthal as I haven't really used it in over a year. I do like it better than Ni200 though. Easier to work with and less initial weird taste.

There are tons of dumb questions and even more dumb people but that wasn't either

I've used SS in power mode by mistake and it was just a bit hotter than in TP mode.

Yes SS wire is fine in power mode, it is just lower resistance then Kanthal, as already stated. Before it was a thing some of the premium wire marketed to cloud bros was just SS wire. The only issue is if your looking for higher resistance builds it may not be suitable. I really don't use much Kanthal anymore, I do still use mech mods fairly regularly, and it is quite nice to be able to go from regulated to mech, still have great performance.

The only caveat is of course building within your device/battery limits.
