Attack of the (Kayfun V5) Clones!

which ss 316l wire would you recommend for kayfun v5 on evic vtc mini using tc? im now using single 28g. usually i go for a 2.5mm coil, around 8 wraps but i would like to try some clapton wire or something like that. would like more vapor production but flavor is important to me so it has to be good enough.. maybe a higher gauge clapton wire? i see that there are fused claptons, but dont really know what i need. any suggestions are appreciated..

I've really tried the temp control thing..really tried. (SS316L) I've given up on it for now..But I have thrown 28g Fused Claptons (Kanthal) .7 ohms in it. I did not really enjoy them in this tank..the reason being, I'm impatient and don't like to wait for the ramp up (way to much delay). If you crank up the wattage to compensate, the inner chamber will get to hot, the chamber is small so the vapor will get very dense and flavorful..the Claptons do not cool down very fast. Plus they guzzle juice. I've been enjoying 28g kanthal in it..heat up quick cool down quick.. I've got the MTL air reducers in the mail from Origen so 28g is gonna be perfect for me. I would skip the Claptons.. (if you already have Claptons on hand definitely try it just so you never have to wonder) if you want bigger coils maybe try twisting up a couple 28g....

I've found that a 2.5mm works the best as well. I use a cotton bacon wick. Take a little off the top if needed. (Even scissor cut with the top of the coil.) if that makes and sense..

Yes that is exactly how i wick.2.5 mm ID cotton bacon v2 and trim a little off the top as needed.

What's the diff between the v2 cotton bacon and the original?

I have no idea because i have never used the original.I read somewhere it is cleaner tasting and it does not taste of cotton right from the first draw.I love it,it is all i use.

Last night i dropped one of my tobeco's.It detached from the mod just leaving parts 1,2 and 3 on the mod.I have inspected everything and it all seems fine.Tried putting it back together but now the 510 screw screws right into the 510 connector not leaving any 510 screw protruding.Anybody any ideas what is causing this? What stops it screwing right in the first place? Tried to look at one of my others but i am stumped.Any help would be appreciated.

Edit.I worked it out,the 510 insulator lip had come off the insulator leaving it in the 510 connector piece.Luckily i found some from fast tech.Hopefully this will fix it.

Some guy on FT posted an interesting experiment to turn the V5 into a mtl vape....he used the 510 post and positive plate from a V3 in it...made the deck look a bit strange but he claims it works.

The positive plate looks tiny sitting on the peek insulator tho...

Could you post a link! This might be a breakthrough, as the mtl insert for k5 doesn't quite make it as good as the k3 mini. If the air section from the mini works inside the k5 this could be huge. Thx

I've been there too, staring oddly at the device.

LOL. I did not forget the part,the lip of the 510 insulator had sheared off and was in the 510 connector.I could not see it until i got the magnifiying glass out.Just ordered 5 from Fast tech for $1.36.No big deal i have plenty more back up v5's until the part get's here.I have 2 more Tobeco clones on the way as well.

I guess it is all subjective but i think the MTL kit works perfectly. It is that good i only use 4 attys all the time in rotation. 3 Tobeco KF V5 clones with the different size reducers in each. I switch them up, 1.2 mm in the morning, 1.4 mm afternoon and 1.6 mm at night. Only other atty in use is a Velocity RDA when i want to DL. I mainly like a flavorful tight draw MTL vape. The KF V5 with the MTL is perfect. All my other atty's are now gathering dust.

Was bored too so I tried this conversion on the SXK KF5 mini. Worked like a charm. Who canoe?

Works well, i mentioned it isn't as good as using a kayfun mini v3. The kayfun 5 works great as it is, but if you like a tighter draw the mini v3 tastes better at that level. Comparing side by side the mini v3 vapes mtl better. The kayfun 5 holds more juice and is really built and suited for restricted and direct loung hits. The mtl kit WILL reduce the airflow properly and does it well, but does not provide as good a vape for mtl compared to the mini v3. Each unit has its advantages, its really what you need and how you like to vape to prefer either one. Both are fantastic rta's.

Might just order some v3 spares to try in the v5....guess i'll need to get smaller deck screws too, wont i.....the v5 ones wont fit in the v3 base plate.

SMJY 3fvape all the way love mine 1:1 clone. YouTube "DJLsb Vapes KF5 " for a full review and comparison of it to the original. Don't have any of the other ones, but I don't have any complaints either.
