You're missing the point. A lot of people quit smoking not only to be healthy, but to save money. What's the point in that if you're just going to blow $200 on a metal tube? I don't see the value in a $200 metal tube with some pretty designs on it. I'll happily pay $40 for the exact same tube, because that's what I see it as worth. I don't need a mech mod, I'm more than happy with my MVP2. But when I want another mech, it's going to have to be something pretty damn special to convince me to drop $200/

when i quit i was smoking 2 packs a day or more
at 8 dollars a pack,200 dollars is about 12.5 days of smoking.
think of those guys in New York City.
regards
mike

In any case, if you don't want to justify your spending, don't partake in a conversation that is pretty much all about the justification of how people spend their money. Or at least simplify your reply to something on the order of I am pro-clone and do not wish to speak to why. I can respect that.

No offense mate but the OP was about Authentic Makers suing clones.

I am not pro clone... I am pro consumer. There is a difference. I don't give a crap if a person buys an authentic a clone or whatever. My whole point is 200 bucks for a metal tube is silly. Yes, that is my value system.

My other point to the packs of day were in response to the people that say.. "You spent XXX on cigarette why can't you afford an authentic.." Let's keep that in perspective.

Ask yourself, why would a drug company invest $2 billion to develop a new malady-curing medicine (not uncommon) if there are cloners who will copy it in a matter of a few months and undercut the market (since they didn't have to pay for development costs). What do you suppose would happen to innovation?

Really if you think about.... The cure to cancer is much different than our vape device. Really a spring loaded switch... a tube... and a connection fitting. Sounds like a flashlight to me.

Sorry, I forgot about the logo.

Very very often, it is not some "rogue" manufacturer, it's exactly the same manufacturer!!! (This is extremely common with signature items like handbags, etc). I'm not sure how common it is with mods, but I suspect it's very prevalent with heads and other volume items.

A Chinese factory gets an order for, say, 1000 mods. They tool up, make the 1000, ship them to the original customer.

Then they keep the production line going, and make another 10,000 more, and sell them to Fasttech, et al. It has the original logos because it's made using the same procedures that the originals were (and the same engraving template). I would guess that this is not that common with mods, since very few of the originals are contracted out to Chinese fabs. It is, however, very common with anything that IS contracted out.

And. as I said in a previous post, this is not a moral failing, but rather an ideological difference between Chinese culture and ours.

this sort of thing happens with a lot of different products.
its some times a lot cheaper to buy say 5000 pieces than 2500 for a product run.
when the run is done they keep going till the parts are gone and sold usually in
the Asian market.

$200 would not be silly to you if it was your time, money, and resources that went into developing that silly tube. Electrical engineering school is not cheap either.

Just because you determine it to be silly doesn't mean, in fact, that it is silly. Pretty easy to frame it as silly when it isn't your skin in the game.

Thanks understand now.

Your right it is easy to when my skin is not in the game. Any manufacturer with an ounce of intelligence would have started the IP processes before developing the product. I am sure they contact an attorney to get set up. Ignorance is not a defense of law.

There are many devices that are similar in many aspects. Clones of clones just 200 dollar clones instead of the cheapo from china. I guess you are telling me that the tube switch and connection design was stolen from flashlight makers... yet since it doesn't involve a light it is okay.

Look if all that time went into developing a tube (tubes have been around forever) a switch (see my flashlight reference) and a connection, there is something seriously wrong. We have seen it in this thread with authentic made US mods in the sub 100s.

Here's the part of electrical engineering school required for making mech mods.

The point is clear and easy to understand. If every innovation was copied and sold for cheap shortly after it was introduced it would take away motivation for anyone (or any company) to invest in developing new products.

Thank you for your contribution. But it wasn't. Why else would I ask?

But yeah.. The Cure to Cancer is just as complicated as a vape device.

Well, the consumer is not the one putting time, money, and resources into it. That's why we're the CONSUMERS. I agree with him, to a lot of us it seems silly.

A previous point I made was that the Chinese don't give a :censored: about patents, copyrights, or trademarks of others. Many developers know this and don't bother investing in protecting things that will not be protected.

I don't argue that. That is their problem if they don't. What about the 99% of USA manufacturering that does... yet vape manufacturers seem to be exempt from this.
