you should be able to choke off the air flow to the coil (s) enough for a mouth to lung, but then if you use the AFC ring, you would be limiting the amount of air that hits the coil. One may want to use both the control ring and a smaller i.d. drip tip.
BTW, I have to return mine because it has a dead short somewhere that I can't readily figure out. I believe it may be in the center pin insulator but I'm not willing to mess with it unless I don't get a new avocado. Sub tank supply said that they have sold a bunch and it's the first that they have heard about it but they will work on getting me a replacement (good customer service-fingers crossed!). Mine also appeared to be used at some point prior to the manufacturers shrink wrapping it. When I opened it, the atomizer had a little puddle of liquid in the tank and some condensation in there as well. I thought to myself "now that is some serious production oils!".
I figured I'll go ahead and clean it in my ultrasonic cleaner and do a build on it anyways. To unscrew the base and deck in order to remove the glass (it's glass), you need to remove the small nut on the deck (careful not to lose it, it's small) then unscrew the post and set it aside. The deck and base will then unscrew and come apart to remove the glass. While I was doing that, it started getting crunchy and my clear glass cracked (oh great!). After I got the base and deck separated I noticed that there were no washers in the grooves for the glass and it must have been bound up a bit and stressed the glass on the initial twist to unscrew. All my washers were in the parts bag (clear, black and green)
With all that said, this little atty has some serious potential. The machining is awsome for the price point and the design (minus the capacity) should work very well. After I found out there was an issue with a short, for giggles I built it with some 26g nichrome 80 and wicked it. It was a single coil set up and wicking it was a little tedious at first but I know will get easier. I filled it with some junk juice I had to test it for leaks. I had a 3mm i.d. coil set up and held that sucker upside down for like 2 solid minutes and not a single drip from the deck. my wick was pretty dense but not too dense to effect wicking I'm sure. I can see if you don't use enough wick where this would be a leaker but it was solid for me.
I will report back when/if they send me a new avocado and let you know how all goes.
happy vaping
