Baby Shower ediquite??

Ok I wanted to ask about baby showers, yes I know this is my third, however I was wondering if it is considered ok to throw yourself a baby shower, this is why I ask:

I have had one baby shower and I am sure is was the worst one in history, with my first a 'friend' and my sis wanted to give me one my sis let my friend do it, well there was 6 people including myself (I don't mind it was small I don't know that many people anyway) well 2 of the people where there because they had nothing better to do and where my friends friends, then there was the person throwing the shower and her mother, my sis and I. Well lets just say it was really really not that fun I was the odd one out and after it was done and my sis and I left with the two baby blankets I got there she took me shopping...LOL

Now I do not think any of my friends here would even think of having a baby shower for me (just because even though I consider them friends we are not, well how do you say it, best friends {that position is still open}) and I think I would feel really weird asking them to do it. Now I don't want to sound greedy or anything but I would like to get together maybe have a chance to make really cute cupcakes...LOL

I don't know I will probably do what I did with my 2nd and not do anything and have no one do anything either...LOL

Of course you can hold your own shower!! I think thats a wonderful idea anyway. My 1st shower sucked too. It was held by my( ex) mother in law who never liked me and she didnt invite any of my friends. Just her stupid family. This way you can invite who you want and serve the food that you want! What could be better?? I say...Go for it!!!

Well, I would do it! Make the cute cupcakes and have some sandwiches..done all girly, chips and dip and the throw caution to the wind and make a punch..fully loaded. You will be sipping non loaded of course. Have a few joke gifts and call the ladies and tell them to come over. Play a game I like..have them write down the absolute worst baby names they can think of..pull them out of a hat and read them..the one that gets the most laughs wins your goofiest prize.

I just might... one other question for you all in the know... about when do you have a baby shower (how big do I need to be?) what about a month before hand??

yeah a month..my first one was given to me by friends. It was huge and I played with the new stuff all night..I went to bed and got up an hour later in labour!

hehe mine will probably be more having a karaoke (even though no one can sing), no loaded punch (I can not believe I do not know any drinkers...lol) and cute baked goods I like the idea of the worst baby names that sounds like fun

I was so pregnant my hair hurt! But with my daughter I had her a month early, no time for a shower!

so a month early maybe a month and a half (lots happening in Aug. a girly b-day and our anniversary...) gives me time before the baby is born but not too much time to have baby stuff everywhere before he gets here...LOL

Hosting your own shower is perfectly acceptable. I hosted my shower for my second child (evil mother in law hosted the first and didn't invite any of my 3 friends, lol).

I like the worst baby name game, sound hilarious. I had a great aunt named Cunigunda, lol.

We also played a game where you had to find proper names from "Baby girl (whatever your baby's last name will be)" of course you can put what ever sex the baby will be.

Having a cupcake station or something like that where guest can get together and decorate them sounds wicked fun!

And don't stress too much about the timing of the shower, I had my first's shower when I was 7 months along and my second's shower when I was about 3 weeks away from the due date!

Don't think I would need a whole station for cupcakes I know of one person who will come one that probabbly would come (and he's not a girl...lmoa) and one that might come so for less then 7 people a whole station might go to waste...LMAO

Don't want to sound mean but it is nice knowing my sucky baby shower was not just a fluke that happened because it was mine..... LMAO

We ALL had sucky baby showers..it's just part of the process. At least with US, we'll all KNOW you're doing that 'polite smile' via webcam, but you can't see US! What more could a girl ask for?

I'm going to have to figure out how to set up streaming video off a website I guess. Havn't done that before... LOL Unless you all have yahoo IM or something...LOL
