I guess I'm taking baby steps towards DIY.

I've been vaping a blend of menthol/mint/cinnamon. I like it, and more importantly, I'm not allergic to it.

I've also been intrigued with the idea of ordering some unflavored and 'touching it up" with a little flavoring on my own.

I finally did it. I ordered a small amount of 50/50 nic base in my strength, some cinnamon and menthol/mint.

My intent is to try vaping the base plain, and if that doesn't do it, to lightly flavor it with the cinnamon and menthol/mint.

I've become more and more concerned with the additives in other juices, and that combined with allergic reactions to so many flavorings has pointed me towards unflavored (as have recommendations here). The issue is that I was a menthol smoker and not able to get off of analogs until I found a good menthol juice.

What pushed me towards making the order was pulling a coil that had (admittedly) been in use a tad too long and seeing just how much gunk had built up on in, and wondering just how much MORE gunk had wound up in my lungs.

I am hoping that by only lightly flavoring the base, I can minimize the amount of crud I'm inhaling and also get away from the oversweetened flavor of the commercial juices.

Wish me luck. If nothing else, if this works out, it'll save me a ton of $$$, especially since I'm a "tootle-puffer" and don't go through juice at a ferocious rate anyways.

This is completely subjective, but try buying flavors (not juices) from reputable vendors like TPA, FA, Lorann, Hangsen, etc. Start at .5% or 1% and see how they go. Getting into DIY was a good idea, as it gives you much more control over what goes in the juice than just buying the readymade ones. I know that TPA has flavor packs on their website if you want to try several flavors in a category (fruits, cereals, desserts...). This will take some experimentation, so start with 10mL bottles and just see what you like. When you really look at the cost, if you make a small bottle you dont like, its just $1 down the drain. Not a big loss in the grand scheme of things. Good luck!

You've got to start some where and if what your doing works your doing it right. If you decide to venture into the world of flavoring there are many to choose from. And the process of diving into them is not much different then what your doing now. Take 10mls of your unflavored base and add a few drops shake and taste. It's that simple to start out. Once you get the idea of it you can broaden your approach with many of the suggestions and procedures you read about in the forums.

To help you learn more here are some suggestions.

My blogs will give insight into all aspects of DYI, from steeping to what supplies to have on hand to a basic walk through mixing your first E-juice.

Then read hoosier's blogs. These blogs concentrate on fine tuning your mix and give insight on additives.

Then read Boletus's blog's. These blogs concentrate on formulation of nicotine bases regarding proper calculations methods for figuring Nicotine concentration as well as safety.

Then read Ginger's book "E-Cigarettes 102: DIY E-Liquid". It is a book which I've contributed to that delivers an in depth easy to follow guide in the art of DYI.

I recommend viewing VPLive Vape Team Episode #82: DIY Safety and bookmark it for future reference. It explains safety in all aspects of DYI.

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

I plan on getting some flavors once my initial 60 mgs nic purchase is gone and I purchsase nic in quantity. Right now, I am enjoying my "sorta DIY" juice made of nic mixed with a few drops of ready-made juice.

I gather you meant 60ml's as in a 60ml bottle of xxmg and not 60mg straight Nicotine. 60mg is far to strong to be vaping and should be diluted to the proper vaping strength (3,6,9,12,18 or 24mg)
