If you are so devoutly vegan then how on earth can you bring yourself to smoke tobacco knowing what terrible damage it has done to countless human animals over the decades.

I'm really not one to criticize others for their beliefs regardless of how ridiculous I might think they are. But I have to say that's an awfully tall horse you're sitting on :/

On one hand, I have to agree. On the other, have you tried to quit smoking lately? I'm a firm believer in not getting lung cancer, but that really didn't stop me from sucking them down. :)

I would think all the animal testing that is going to be done on PG and VG has already been performed. Both of these elements are well understood and have been used by the pharm industry to suspend and deliver inhaleable medications for decades. I do not see mom and pop ecig vendors performing animal testing on their own unless their cat jumps on their chest while they are vaping. Were I vegan I would ask if the base ingredients are vegetable sourced rather than animal. Humco VG is confirmed all veg as are most VGs on the market as its cheaper to produce than animal based. PG is synthetic. With that assurance I would happily vape knowing I am using a product that is far kinder to the environment and our furry friends than tobacco ever could be.

I emailed and called American Spirit about animal studies. They told me that they're a completely seperate company from RJ Reynolds and that they don't animal test. As some of you noticed, even if so, there are factors that might make an e-juice synthetic flavor that is tested on animals more 'vegan' than the 'non-animal tested American Spirit' due to their relationship with RJ Reynolds and other factors. It's like how I said it's sounds contradictory to say I'll consume something that was made on machinery that uses animal-derived grease/rubber, but not animal-derived products used to directly help manufacture the product - there are so many factors and it's unavoidable unless I like go live off in the jungle or something.

There are probably plenty of juices under $10 for a 30ml that meet my definition, but no vendor wants to deal with the research. What I think might make juices not vegan are possibly animal-derived fats in VG/PG/nic Base and I think the universal artificial flavors or menthol/sweeteners and colors might be tested on animals which might omit me being able to vape all types of creative flavors.

As said, I'm asking again becuase my definition slightly changed from the juice I was vaping.

I forgot there's a whole DIY forum and should have just asked there. I was looking to do what was suggested here which is to track down the manufacturers of the nic base, PG & VG, flavors, and throat hit, sweetener, and menthol and ask them my questions. Manufacturing companies are hit or miss if they answer my questions. Some dodge it and give a half ... answer, some don't reply, and about %50 are very helpful and believable. I can probably fill 40 pages with 'is it vegan' product emails.

Anyway, I'll post to the DIY and see what suggestions I get. Thanks.

I have only one comment on this and I'm not trying to debate your underlying ethics or anything but....it's hard to do something like this all the way....maybe you could just do the best you can on most of your consumption and then use a few products that you don't really know about

So if you know your analogs don't meet your criteria, not vaping because you can't get the answers you seek is an excuse you are allowing yourself to use to continue to smoke. You KNOW analogs are bad in your world but you aren't sure about juice.
Analogs seems like the WRONG choice to continue during your quest. After all, vaping originally started as a way to quit smoking, so go back to vaping, while searching for your answers and maybe you will have quit all together before you get them.
Seems logical to me but Hey

my two cents... if you continue with analogs.. you will not only be hurting yourselves.. but also the animals who will be inhaling your smoke..

Maybe there is a store somewhere who sells organic flavoring/essence, DIY is the best way to go..

Continue vaping... in the long run.. you are doing even animals a great favor for not polluting the air more... Hope you find what you are lookign for..

I have been vegan for the past 8 years and the only advice I can impart is to not let it consume your every waking thought when it comes to nitty gritty details. Just do your best to avoid products with animal by-products and companies that use animals for testing. You will never be able to be 100% vegan unless you make all of your own food, clothing and e liquid, and that is a lot to ask of anybody.

I will second the Velvet Cloud Vapor recommendation that someone else gave earlier. Theirs is the only liquid I use and I am quite satisfied, regardless of the price. If you have been a vegan for any length of time you already know there is a price to pay if you do anything but grow your own food, make your own clothes/shoes, etc. Personally, I am willing to sacrifice a little extra money for the time it will save me in the long run.

Quite frankly, there just aren't enough vegans and vegetarians in the marketplace for companies to take us into consideration when they make big decisions like how they research, develop and produce their goods. You also have to keep in mind that this particular industry is very new and quite small, relatively speaking, and any effort made by a company to make vegan liquids is going to come at a cost that will inevitably trickle down to their customers.

In short, you can't have your cake and eat it, too. Best of luck!

I was the one who recommend VCV and I appreciate you seconding my sentiment. VCV is one of those companies who would do their best to accommodate you and since they are not using any PG and they extract their own nicotine and flavors, it would seem to me that they have less chance of having any of those mass produced products that the OP is leery of.

p.s. I loved your post.

VCV is a great company and my wife and I really enjoy their liquids. They also have great customer service and ship orders incredibly fast considering how small their operation is. After writing that post I actually messaged them on FB to suggest they create a forum banner so I can add it to my signature.
