Ego-Tanks

I have the ego-t type B, but have only been using for a couple days so take the tip for what it is worth from a newbie:

Initially, I have some leaking, but not since I listed to a little advice from someone with the same issue:

1. First leak type: from the tank at the atomizer: When putting in a newly filled tank I first completely wipe the filled tank with a dry tissue. I then run a Q-tip around the base of the Atomizer where the tank will sit. Next I hold the Ego up by my ear and insert the tank until a hear a slight click of pop. I then rotate, while very gently pushing, the tank at least 180 degrees...sometimes a little further until it is lined up the way I want (so that the manual button is either on the direct top or bottom when vaping).

2. Second leak type. I have found that I have a habit of pulling a little too much, causing some juice to come directly from the tank to my lip and then some sitting in the tip of the tank ready to hit my tongue when I use again. I dont like this. I remove the tank, hold a dry tissue to the hole on the bottom of the tank (where the atomizer will fit) and blow into the tank from the other end. It seems to push the juice back to where it is supposed to be. Then I reinsert the tank according to my description above.

2 days in, and I have had NO issues with leak 1 since doing this, and my issues with leak 2 are greatly reducing as O better learn my equiptment.

I'm in the same boat man. I have purchased my collection from Totally Wicked. I have 2 Tornado batteries, 1 mega Tornado battery and 5 Titan batteries. I gave up on the tanks because of leakage and lack of flavor, I've tried clearomizers/Smokymizers, and smoktech dual coil carto's. The clearomizers kept cracking and leaking and just tasted bad all around. The dual coil carto's were great on the initial fill but any refills afterwards they failed to perform. I just purchased 15 smokymizers and the first was a dud, the second constantly taste burnt and I cant seem to manage the tiny little plug without dropping or losing it. I haven't smoked in almost 3 months but I am out of idea's. I wanted to stick with things that would fit a 510 connection because I have so many 510 batteries but I am frustrated with everything I have tried. I don't mind spending the money on an entirely new device, but I have no idea what will meet my needs. All I know is that I haven't smoked in nearly 3 months but I am not spending any more money on Clearomizers, smokymizers, nor dual coils even though I have had the best luck with the dual coils. I am a heavy vaper and I like to chain vape. I dont care what it cost but I have got to find something that works for me soon or I'll probably end up smoking again. If I have to pay top dollar for a hi-end device, fine. I just want a reliable, consistent device that doesn't leave me frustrated and aggravated with all the maintenance, upkeep, and leakage. I don't wanna bother with syringes nor the tiny little plug on the smokymizers. Somebody please suggest to me a device that I can chainvape on with minimal leakage and minimal upkeep and preferably no syringe needed.

Stay with cartomizers for awhile. Hassle-free. Next try to use the blank cartos, refilling as needed. Not bad really, I enjoy the refilling process. Feel like a mad scientist mixing my vapes. I believe the Blu or the Volcano are good 510 devices. If you do not care about batt life. If you do, I recommend switching to RN4081. I switched from Blu to the RN4081. Perfectly satisfied now. Vaping and no smoking since 8/20, after 40+ years.

The Blu is not a good first device imo for the simple fact that they need to be recharged every
half an hour as do similar cig looking devices. Some swear by them but have a couple 510 type devices and I'm glad that I didn't start out trying to quit with those or I may not have succeeded. I started out with an ego kit from cignot and to my utter amazement I had accidentally quit smoking in just three days! I was a 2-3 pack a day smoker for 37 years and only wanted to cut down a "little" if possible so imagine how shocked I was when I could not stand the taste of my beloved Kool's.
I had tried many many times to quit using cigars, patch's,gums, hypnosis, acupuncture you name it I used it without any success.:(
I just wanted to say I don't believe the ego-T could cause you to get a cold sore.
They are caused by the H. Simplex virus and not some device but using said device over and over without cleaning it with an antibacterial solution on the mouth piece probably helped to transfer the infection to yourself over and over again.:?:

I have an eGo-T and I had some problems at first. But I tested A&B style and normal and LR and, different mixes of juice and techniques -and read a lot about it here on the forum.

So, now my eGo-T works like a charm. Smooth and careful, long inhalation on a B-type LR atty with a 50/50 PG/VG mix works great for me. I really like it more and more as time goes by. No leaks, good vapor all the time.

I've been very happy with EMDCC's. Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers. These won't work on just any 510 threaded battery, they have to be eGo (or clone) batteries with the extra set of threads. Or you can get an adapter.

I tried some normal cartomizers, and found them a major pain to fill/refill, and they didn't hold much fluid so using them was a major pain. I was a little happier with ego T type A tanks, and was planning to try the type B's (which are bigger) when I heard about the EMDCC's.

The EMDCC's are cartomizers, but much bigger. A lot bigger. They hold more fluid, they give a lot of vapor, and they work very well. They are $2.79 each. They seem to work for me for about 10-14 days, then they start getting clogged up. I'm mostly using Boba's Bounty, which is 100% VG, and a fairly dark color. In theory, that means that it should clog things up fairly fast, so you may get more time out of your juice before they clog.

I've cleaned them out and reused them, but my results there are hit or miss. Honestly, I don't mind paying under $3 a week for them. Considering what I was paying for my 3 pack a day habit before I started vaping, that's nothing. And if you fill one with juice and find that it's not working right after cleaning, you probably wasted $3 worth of juice. I'm pretty much ready to stop cleaning them and just dump them after they start to get clogged.

One thing about the EMDCC's, you don't want to use them to try new flavors. Filling one takes a lot of fluid, and if you don't like that flavor, you've wasted it, plus you have filled your EMDCC with something you don't like. So I also have an atomizer/drip tip set up. I use that to try flavors I'm not sure of. I only fill an EMDCC when I know I like the flavor.

EMDCC's can be ordered with two different types of mouth tips. A round tip, which I hate, and a flat tip (similar to an old fashioned whistle) that I like much better. The tips can be moved around from one EMDCC to another, so I suggest that if you order some, get at least one of each type in your first order, that way you can try both and use the one you like best.

eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer Flat-Tip

Don't feel bad about smoking, just keep at it. There is learning curve to vaping, but you'll get there if you just stick with it. You have to find flavors you like. Some people like a lot of flavors, and others have to try a lot of flavors before they find anything they like. You have to learn about equipment, and how to refill your tank or cartomizer, stuff like that. You have to learn how to take in the vapor - if I vape like it is a real cig, I get coughing fits.

When I first started, I was told not to push to quit cigs, and that I should vape when I wanted to vape, smoke when I wanted to smoke, and it would come naturally. And for the most part, that's been true. I was a *very* heavy smoker, for 30+ years. I started vaping July 15th, about 11 weeks ago. I didn't expect to quit - I'd tried quitting many times, never got anywhere, so why would I expect this to work? I was convinced I was going to smoke until I died. But I did think that maybe it would help me cut down.

Almost immediately, without working at it much, it cut down my cigs to about 1/2 of what I'd smoked before. (3 packs a day to 1 or 1.5 a day.) After a couple of weeks, I started noticing that a lot of the cigs I was still smoking were out of habit, without thinking about it. And the really cool part was that I would often light a cig out of habit, take that first puff, and immediately think "Darn, I didn't mean to light that. I don't need it. I could have just vaped!"

When I started realizing that, I was amazed. And before long, I started keeping my cigs a little farther away, where I couldn't grab them out of habit. And that got me down to 10 or 15 a day.

15 a day, or less? Before I bought the eGo, I was smoking 60+ a day. I was pretty stoked.

But I did have very strong cravings right after eating, and just trying to vape through it didn't seem to help. Mornings weren't a problem for me. I don't usually eat breakfast, and if I do, it's usually very light. I'd get up, do my stuff, and I'd be fine until I ate lunch. But after lunch, I had to smoke, or I'd get cravings, and they wouldn't go away.

So I was pretty happy with how much I'd cut down, and I was saving money by buying 25% of the cigs I was buying before (which more than offset the cost of the vaping stuff.) But I was still smoking.

I'd been using 24mg juice. For Boba's Bounty (my favorite) that's the highest they sell it in. Last weekend, I went shopping and ordered several small bottles of juice, all in 30mg flavor. Now I'm using the Boba's Bounty as my all day vape, and I'm using my atomizer/drip tip set up with the 30mg juice when I get those "after a meal" cravings.

And that helped me turn the corner. My last cigarette was Thursday around 6:00. I didn't even plan anything out - I'd smoked a few on Thursday, didn't think anything about that particular cig. I'm not really sure of the time - it's my best guess.

It's been roughly 56 hours since I smoked. I have cigs here, part of pack that I've opened plus 5 more packs in the carton. I hadn't really planned to quit just now. I was really planning on working my way down to a 5 or 6 cig a day limit, and doing that a week or two before I tried going to 0. It just sort of happened. Once I could get through the after eating cravings without a cig, it was pretty easy to just stop.

I think it's far too early to say I'm a non smoker. I may smoke tomorrow, for all I know. But I keep getting closer to being a non smoker. It just seems inevitable that it'll happen. I've shopped around, and will be purchasing a Buzz Pro at some point, probably with a liquinator tank to go on it. Between them (and with batteries/charger) that's around $200. But considering what I was spending on cigs before, it's pretty easy to justify. And if it keeps me off the cigs, as I believe it will, then there are a ton of other benefits.

If vaping can help me quit, it can work for anyone.

Just go at your own pace. If you smoke, fine, you smoke - but that doesn't mean you have to quit trying. Once you find a flavor you like and a hardware setup you like, you can get there. If necessary, you can bump up the nic level like I did, at least until you get off the cigs.

Just stick with it.

Thanks Baldr. I'm sure I'll end up quitting. I am having good experiences with the EMDCCs. I agree about trying new juices. I'll probably use my old tanks for the new ones

Thanks
Alan

DOn't go back! I'm on 5 moths cig free! I tried all that stiff too. It was too much trouble! I looked arounf constatnly on the forums for what would help. I ended up ordering parts from MadVapes and making my husband and I some lil box mods with 14500 batts. They are the bomb! I use smokymizers - I LOVE them! My man uses CE2s. Kerep looking. I spent way too much money on this ecig thing to begin with but I eneded up finding what works for me/us and you can too! I don't ever thing I will find a good way to enjoy the juice flavor but I have given up on that. As long as I get the nic I'm ok. Although if anyone does ever come up with a way to get the flavor to come out I'll be first in line.:)

It's true that wattage is the key factor in the quality of the vape. A 2 ohm carto at 3.7v gives you 6.8 watts of power to your carto. Cranking that voltage to just 4 volts on a variable voltage device gives you 8 watts.

Using a 3 ohm atty at 5 volts gives you 8.33 watts. Crank that up a little and the wattage rises. At 6 volts, that 3 ohm atty is producing 12 watts. That, of course, is dependent upon whether the atty coil can take the voltage at 6v. Nevertheless, using VV, you can tinker and find the sweet spot where a juice is vaping at optimum. That's the key point.

You might find that a carto and your juice blossoms at 3.9v or 4.2v. Those are ranges you probably can't hit with a standard battery.

It's worth investigating. You can do that with the Madvapes $35 variable voltage box mod. It takes two 14500 batteries at about $5 each and a $15 charger for Li-ion/IMR/LifePO4 3.7 batts.

Not that I "liked" that you broke down and smoked today, but I understand your frustration.I started out on the little 510,no button model.Fortunately my next PV was a Provari. It broke down on me and I ordered an Ego-T to use in the meantime while the Provari is being serviced.Unfortunately,I like you, smoked cigarettes after over 3 months of being off of them because I just couldnt get my fix from the smaller device and the tanks always leave me with a muted and burnt taste.I hope to purchase another Provari someday for a back up PV so that I wont get frustrated in the event of another breakdown.I guess I was just spoiled by my Provari and expected more than I should have from my little Ego-T or I am ignorant as to how to get the best performance out of it.Good luck in finding your perfect device and staying off those dreaded cigarettes.

P.S The "like" I speak of was where I had "liked" one of your posts from earlier about this.

I felt the same few days ago. Fortunately, some members of ECF sent me some Boge cartos and I haven't look back to analogs since! I tried CE2s, CE3s, Ego-Ts, etc and I found them to be terrible in terms of performance. Boge cartos on an ego battery seem to be the way to go in my experience. Hang in there! :D

Whatever was in the carto's from the vendor gave me consistent cold sores.
Hi, by "cold sores" do you mean mouth ulcers? I suffered greatly from those (and still do sometimes if I overdo the vaping), but I have found a few solutions:

- Use a driptip (wide hole on the mouthpiece), or enlarge the hole in the mouthpiece - I found that a small jet of vapour seemed to concentrate the nicotine (or whatever caused the ulcers) causing a sore, whereas a wider driptip distributes the vapour more evenly in my mouth.

- decrease the nicotine content. lots of ulcers = nicotine content probably too high, or you are doing too much vaping for one day. Try to treat it like you did cigarettes (though I still tend to chainvape!)

- sip water (or tea, coffee, whatever) when vaping to wash away the concentration of nicotine from your mouth/tongue

- try VG liquids (rather than PG), I had less problems using VG, though you still have to watch the nicotine content.

Hope this may help.

I started on smokestik with whatever was in the cartos from the vendor too. Then i tried ego t because everyone was raving about them, but i found the flavour weaker than the smokestik. So i got some Echo cartomizers to put on my ego batt and it is AWESOME. You get to choose your own flavous, they hold 2-3 ml liquid so 1 or 2 fills last me the whole day. Very low maintenence, pretty much the same as a 2 piece system.
