I left the house for work this morning at 6am, my Protank II loaded with cherry chocolate and smiled because I was getting masses of flavour and huge clouds. Then suddenly... my mod wouldn't fire. I turned it off. Back on. Dead. Check the resistance, and it said NON.

Nooooooooo! Damn you Cherry Chocolate, you're a coil killer. I only got one day out of you. Asking for 2 days was too much.

I checked my bag for backups, and I had previously and kindly dumped all kinds of stuff in the bottom of my bag.

Spare Protank, 2 spare heads, eliquid, spare eGo kit. Even my backups have backups. Awesome I was vaping again within 30 seconds. Always carry backups!

I'll rebuild the dead coil tonight I think :)

How often do coils die out completely like that? I'm fearful of that happening to me!! I usually don't carry around spares, but I guess I really should!
The chocolate is a thick, sweet, dark 100%VG juice. It's an absolute certainty that the coil lifespan will be short. Most people vape higher PG juices that are light coloured I guess so they will get loads of life out of theirs.

I expect that when I examine the coil, there will be some serious gunk in there which I will be able to completely remove, and maybe the coil will fire again. Maybe not. But I expected it to happen, and I'm equipped with spare heads, and also a reel of kanthal should I feel the need to make a new coil.

Can totally relate to the importance of backups this morning. Even though I'm three years in, I only have two working devices. I woke up early this morning, took two or three hits, and the dead battery light started flashing on my PV. No problem, I thought, but when I got to my charging station, it was empty! I can't believe I didn't pop yesterday's batteries in the charger. So I found one battery with some juice, but now its dead. I smoked an analog I had in the back of a drawer from a month or two ago. It was ok, but what I really want is vaper!

Yeah, backups for the backups for the backups. I'm currently using a reo grand with rm2, keep a vmod in the car with an A7 on top of it and have two egos along with the cartos that came with my vmod sitting on my desk at work. I still feel naked because the one time I actually had to use the egos (vmod was being repaired and I hadn't bought the reo yet) all they did was piss me off and I almost went back to smoking.

I am new to vaping and have learned how important back ups are. One night I was out having a few beers and throwing some darts with my friend when my battery died. Luckily I had a spare out in the Jeep. Another night I was with the same friend on the way to the casino and my atomizer completely gave out with no warning. Uh oh! Well luckily even though I use ego-c atomizers, I had a spare ego-t atomizer my friend gave me, so I used that til I got home and could replace the ego-c atomizer. So yes, spares are very important! I also keep spare fluid and carts with me as well. This whole vaping thing can be more work than smoking analogues, but it's sooo worth it and I enjoy it!

I save the thick, sweet stuff for my rebuildables. Nothing will pop a coil made of 26 gauge Kanthal, it might clog and not wick well but it will NOT break! A cotton ball and my swiss army knife and I'm good to go in two minutes anywhere I go. If I'm going to be busy I fill an ARO with MBV Pear, a light clear juice, and don't worry about back-ups.
