Thanks for the coffee Whis!

*wakes up a little more with each dose of caffeine consumed*

Good morning Don, Fran, Whis, Joe, Ruppy and crew! ;)

I am very happy to hear that they got the power back on for you. Did it REALLY take until yesterday or this morning for them to restore your power Ruppy? That's almost 2 WEEKS! :grr::mad::grr:

At least you finally have air conditioning and computers once more!!!

Yeah it was just over 12 days. Theres still several thousand without power. The biggest problem is noone maintained the right of ways. In this portion o the country a large portion of land is still forest. The storm brought down the transmission lines and with no way to get to them they were forced to hire logging crews and helicopters. Theres a huge investigation getting started on why it took so long and whos fault it really is. Ultimately the entire power grid in the US is far out of date and on the verge of needing billions invested. Outages like this will become more and more common.

I guess I should not be surprised... We have been investing less and less in infrastructure investments ever since 1980...

I know that the backlog of simply repairing the infrastructure that we have properly is estimated to be an additional cost of over $4 trillion due to the past 30 years of not doing it. :(. And before you ask that is not politics, that is the civil engineering institute that does that study annually.

I forget when the last time the gas tax that pays for road and bridge repair increased here in TX, but I think that was in the 80's too, and I know that materials alone cost more now than then!

Sooner or later all those bills will come due... Most of the estimates I have seen are for sometime in the next 20 years. :(
