Going to Myrtle beach. The intention was to be there for the Sons graduation from Paris Island basic training but he was injured when a gun blew up so he is being medically discharged. We are waiting to here when they are gonna send him home and the best they can tell us is we will be notified 24hrs before he leaves within the next 7 to 14 days so there is a chance he may get released while we are in Myrtle Beach and they claim we cant even pick him up he has to be put on a bus home so things are a little stressed right now and they wont even disclose any info as to what extent his injuries are. While I support the Troops the way they handle stuff is a joke.

Don that is crap. They cant stop you from picking him up if hes being processed out. Have him find out who has charge of that battalion and try to talk to them. They are just trying to cover their butts because he got hurt.

The military tried to railroad me more than once. Dont back off till you find someone to help you. You will eventually get someone thats not a idiot to help.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Don. (((Hugs))) It must be terrible not to be able to see him since he's been injured. I wonder if he gets put on the bus while you are down there, if he could get off at the next stop for you to pick him up? That's not right that you can't pick him up. You try going up the chain of command to get that changed?

We are trying to get answers but no one is giving us any info, its all a big runaround and they dont say nothing, 2 second phone calls and thats it. We are worried they are gonna release him while we are down there and he get stuck heading home with no key or anything. We may just end up driving over there the day we get down there and busting some heads cause I want answers and not a freaking snow job like the Govt is synonomous for.

Needless to say my stress level is about a 50 on a 1 to 10 scale and this week is not going well.

Wow that is cruel to tell a parent their child is injured and being discharged with no information. I hope it is nothing too serious and you get to pick him up in Myrtle Beach. Hide a key/leave with trusted neighbor and leave a note to have him call. I'm so sorry.

I'd be happy to get him off the bus as he goes thru NJ. PM me if you need help near here.

I don't blame you. I don't think anyone could hold me back if my daughter or grandsons were hurt. Sic mama bear on them.
They dont want Mama Bear she is about ready to leave early to go down there, Reminds me of one of the shows on discovery channel of a mother protecting her young, She's MEAN

Heres hoping you hear something VERY soon Don~
Hopefully

That's terrible Don! Man, I really hope he's not badly injured. :( The US governement will definitley try to screw disabled vets every chance they get. I know from personal experience. MAKE sure he gets copies of all his medical records so they don't "covientantly disaapear" like most of mine did! Luckily, I had made copies before I was discharged and had them to prove all my injuries were a result of active duty. Take him to a VA rep as soon as he gets home, and can. They'll help him get compensation that he is entitled to! They fought me for years, and I just recently got all mine approved...

I don't know you at all, (other than your juice's reputation) Which I'm trying to take for a spin???
But what Mike is telling you is exactly correct. The VA is SUPER slow. Find out who your Rep is and stay with them. They will attempt to speed things up! And that is about the only practical thing you can do, (within the system).

I also hope he is ok. pm me I may be able to help information wise

Seriously Don, I have about 10 years worth of dealing with the VA, and would be more than willing to offer any advice your son needs... Just pm me and I'll answer any questions you or he has once you see what his real condition is like... I'm not a self proclaimed expert, but I can sure point you in the right direction to get him help!

Mike
