Just a warning.
I have received 10 14500 batts today.
only a few work.
All show 4.2v ish when fully charged.
However under load drop to 0.7v = no vape

A few others have also received faulty batts.
With the same results.

I have tested with a few combo's of mods with the same results.
The good ones work and work well, the bad ones just don't want to play.

All batteries will show a higher voltage when fully charged, (that goes for DX or any other batteries), I have some that even show 6.2V , but it will rapidly drop to "normal" after you start to use it.
Yes some form DX after using them they will show 0v and will not re-charge, but if you leave them for several hours after the light goes green in your charger , they will be back in business.

I guess it is the risk of paying so little for them, I still think it is well worth it.

I also order more than 5-6 to cover myself from the few that will have problems.

Dx will refund postage if you send it back. You still need to package etc. it though which most of the time makes it not worth the effort. They do not require items to be sent back if postage exceeds half of items value(or something like that). Then again, postage to China is usually very cheap. Just make them understand it was a bad batch and they probably agree to send new items without further proof that they were indeed faulty.

Li-ion cells should never be charged over 4.2 volts. Charger charging cells over 4.2 volts is either broken or badly designed.

Considering their batteries are so dirt cheap and with free shipping, I'm thinking if more than half your order arrives in good working condition, it's gravy.

I am coming to find that DX aint all that...There are plenty of other China based suppliers that have the same stuff at almost the same price and will actually ship it to you in a relatively timely fashion. I have been able to find most of what they sell from other suppliers. It almost seems like they dont stock anything and need a week or so to gather up all the contents of an order, then its package and shipped.

Can you name names? I've bought 8 10440's from DX and have yet to have one that is as good as the originals that came with my cigar. Actually, the first 4 weren't even the same size as the originals (~1mm shorter) and would barely hold a charge. The next 4 were decent, but started to die very quickly after a couple of weeks.

Thanks,
kevin

Hey Kevin,

I have the same problem with 10440's from DX. I had 10 from one order and its been about 3-4 weeks, 5 are totally dead and the others are on there way to a slow death. I also had a problem with some of them being a little smaller, wouldn't even make contact with the Nano charger, had to bend the pins.

For this particular battery there is a US supplier shiningbeam.com UltraFire 10440 3.6V 500mAh that has them for 2.45 each , DX has them for 2.12 each, not a bad deal from a US supplier, only problem is you need to add shipping, so ordering just a couple of batteries is probably not the way to go, all thou you will get them in a few days not a few weeks.

Another option is this chinese seller on E-bay 4pcs TrustFire 10440 AAA Rechargeable Battery 3.7V - eBay (item 260441722214 end time Sep-03-09 18:34:56 PDT) thats 4 Ultrafire 10440 3.6v 600mAh for about $1.70 each including shipping. Should take about 1 week to ship from them

I started getting all my batts from TrustFire Protected 18650 Lithium Battery (2500mAh) "Blue" The bummer is the shipping but I did get my batts in 2 days. Just feels good getting them from the U.S.

I order just the black Ultrafires with flames on them. Very good quality. None were DOA. Protections works great but I put my own protection in at 3V (their protection kicks in if shorted or at 2,75V.

Capacity tested almost as advertised BUT only when charged on a good charger. No charger from DX is good :( as they seem to use some op-amp system to stop the charging. No dedicated chip inside means slowly destroying the batts over time.

Nice to get it in 2 days. But I am not is a hurry and get the same at DealExtreme: $8.18 TrustFire Protected 18650 Lithium Battery (2500mAh 2-Pack Blue) for less than half the price and free shipping. Yes I know that I have to wait 3 weeks, but the ones you order from the US come from the same place, they just mark the price up 100%+ and give quicker shipping (plus charge shipping), I can wait as i order PLENTY of extras.

Burnie

Edit: I have also had NO PROBLEMS with the batteries (so far).
