Yes the smoking is burning the sugars off the coils. Do 5 sec bursts on the batt til the coils glow red/orange, then let cool rinse and blot wicks dry w/paper towels. Can be used again soon if you let heads sit for a few min with new juice. The remaining water in the coils tends to dilute the juice slightly.

The smoke coming off the coils is likely steam from residual water from washing out the iClear. You need to keep pulsing until you see all the coils start to glow orange. After that keep the pulsing under a second and repeat until the entire coil glows orange. When your are done you may need to wash out the iClear again to get rid of any residual ash but some people just blow it out.
thanks I forgot to rinse but I refilled with my liquid and took some dry hits and tried a few normal vapes not fully saturated yet but I definatly have flavor now and its at 8 watts now
I dryburn all my heads every couple tanks. They have lasted me up to 6 weeks or longer doing that. My wicks usually fall apart first.

just a little update the bad taste is already back I think I dry burned it wrong got a little nervous when I was heating I didn't let it get orange
Are you tipping your iClear every few vapes as peraspera suggested? Top-wicked juice devices are constantly fighting gravity, and the wicks are not absorbant enough to keep up with frequent vaping if you don't dunk them from time to time to get them resoaked with additional juice.
Not doing so, you will be burning a dry wick and getting a poor taste.

I checked in to see if I had the innokin or whatever iclear 30 turns out its an elego I clear 30.. don't know if this is what is causing the bad taste any ideas?
oh ok well I just ckeaned and dry burned again making sure to re rinse this time hopfully its better
