Bahnzo, any chance of you selling the raw parts?

I build 5v mods from 3 x AA plastic boxes with an inset 801 atty.

I have no wood working tools available and there is no wood box I can find on the web that would do the trick.

I can drill the holes myself and wood type doesn't matter, but would really love to use one of your beautiful boxes for the case.

I totally understand if this would be too much hassle.

Everyone who has paid had their mod shipped today. PO says expected delivery is 12/31, so take that for what it's worth I guess.

I gave each mod a good polish before they went out. I've taken to using furniture wax on my own personal mods to keep up their sheen, so I'm giving each mod a final polish with it before they go out. It does add some minimal protection as well, but I suppose a carnuba wax might work better...I've read about people using it for table tops so might be worth giving it a try.

A couple 14500 mods might be next, it's really all I have parts for now. I'm waiting on back ordered parts for the time being for further 18650's so no idea when they are due. I'm thinking some blue one's like I posted might be in the offering, but no idea really...gonna take a week off and see what catches my eye.

It's already finished with one. I use two coats of shellac to seal the wood and pop the grain, and then 5 coats of an oil/urathane varnish to protect it. With the final coat dry, I then sand it with very fine sandpaper, and then polish it with 0000 steel wool and wax. When that dries, I then polish it with just wax. So no need for any more varnish.

Had a chance to tinker around today.....and got to expand on an idea I've had for some time. My own personal 18650 wood mod was the proto-type, but I didn't like how it turned out and shelved the idea while I stewed on it. When I woke up this morning I had an idea and worked on it tonight.....

A slight change in the look (for the better) and an (IMO) improvement in the construction and how the mod goes together. Pics tomorrow maybe...it's looking like it might be a snow day so I might have a lot of idle time on my hands.

So much for taking a week off......

A couple pics.....what I've done is devise a new method for how the mod goes together to change the battery. I've also come up with a new way to join the wood together. Think of a picture frame (or google "miter joint") and it's like that. I've wanted to do this for some time now, but couldn't figure a way to cut a very thin piece of wood with a perfect 45deg angle. Now I have. What this does is allows the grain to flow around the mod with no breaks due to the joints. These are just proto types, but they look promising so far.

Just the boxes with no finish, but enough to give an idea....

LOL, which one was that? The only stuff I have in the corner is cobwebs.

I do want to work on some 5v and VV here again eventually. Just a matter of finding the inspiration I guess. I also want to do some other connector types like 801 and 901 for you folks that use them. As a matter of fact, I've got to try an 801 here someday.

I must say with the care and planning that goes into your designs you show the heart of a true craftsman.You are one of the few on this forum that really exemplify a (sadly) disappearing breed of quality goods.A "makers mark" of some sort identifying each creation as an authentic Bahnzo box would be nice to see IMHO. Hope the new year is one of continued success.
