We all know the extreme dangers of breathing in smoke, and many would like nothing more than to include e-cigs in the smoking bans. So that raises the question of why health groups are not pushing for a ban on birthday cakes. Particularly in the interests of protecting children from the dangerous and often fatal effects of smoke.

Let's look at the risks. A birthday cake at the party of a one year old would expose everyone in the room to the deadly smoke from one candle after it's blown out. And the risk grows alarmingly as the child gets older. By the time a child has his tenth birthday party, the volume of deadly smoke coming from the candles has risen 1000%. The birthday party of an adult represents a frightening risk.

Exposure to smoke can and does cause heart attacks and many other serious diseases. Swift measures to ban birthday cakes should be implemented.

It's just another conspiracy from Big Cake to conceal the truth. They have friends in high places, and the financial muscle to ensure that the anti's focus their attention on less pressing issues like third hand smoke, outdoor smoking bans and electronic cigarettes.

I agree. And it's worrying that some people may use e-candles on the birthday cake in order to circumvent the birthday cake ban. That's certainly something which should be included in the legislation. No e-birthday cakes.

It's nearly impossible for a vendor to know if a cake will be used as a birthday cake.

Even a simple, innocent muffin could be perverted to this end.

Maybe even a brownie.

All sweet bake goods present a risk, and should be banned.

Best,
Ande

PS- This would have the knock-on benefit of protecting us all (and the children) from the propeline glycol, an ingredient in antifreeze, which may be an ingredient in the frosting.

You are right Ande. Considering how obviously dangerous propylene glycol is, we certainly must include it in all bans. The legislative wording must be very clear to include it. It's bad enough that birthday cakes contribute to obesity. Users of birthday cakes should be demonized and vulgarized as much as smokers and vapers are.

My argument is still to ban babies. Since expensive government studies done by for profit corporations all on tax dollars show that ALL current smokers along with ALL ex smokers, were once babies. It is the only common denominator. Likewise, this study also correlates drug use to breast milk seeing as how this is the first substance ingested by an infant using the "gateway substance” theory one could argue that this could also FINALLY allow Big Brother to actually win this so called "war on drugs".

Ban on babies, and jail those to dare to illegally copulate. It’s the only solution.

JUST THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN!

Not to mention the fact that birthday cakes are obviously a gateway to ice cream!! First it's a la mode and then, next thing you know, they are eating ice cream by itself!!

We should go ahead and ban them asap... before they get hooked. Theres an alarming addiction to birthday cakes in this country.

We MUST save our children! Think of the CHILDREN DAMNIT!
