I put this together with basic 3/4" pipe fittings, an 18650 battery, blue led and a 510 connector. Overall I like the look of it. Just wanted to see what other people thought of my hardware store special.

I like it, too! I spent some time at the hardware store last week looking at copper, trying to figure out what I could build with it. Maybe I'll try one of these. I do have a couple of questions. What kind of switch did you use? How do you change the battery? How do you attach the 510 connector? Is it solid enough to support the weight of the tank over time? Thanks for sharing your design!

Thanks for the comments.

As for the construction questions. The 510 connector is soldered in with electrical solder. ( I removed the center pin and insulator first) The switch is salvaged from a broken CD rom drive and mounted (hot glued) to a small piece of plastic inside the 1/2" pipe. Then I used a stem from a broken Rad Shack switch to "slip fit" through the 1/2" pipe to make contact when you press on it. To change the battery the bottom 3/4" cap slides off.

As for strength it seems plenty solid I only finished this a few days ago so time will tell.

It is definitely a sickness...I'm seriously considering starting an "MA" support group...Modder's Anonymous will be a non-profit organization, but I will gladly accept donations of any and all electronic junk and/or scrap metal, plastic, handheld toys etc.
