if I could trade in the 4 or 5 chargers I've bought over the years, I'd spend $80 to $100 on the MC-3000!

Over ten years I've bought chargers for new features. At least I can charge 16 cells at once in four 4 bay chargers of various brands and a couple of those will report I/R.

@Jazzman, thanks tons.
that IR test worked. i tried some hg2s
slots 1 n 2 said 24 n 23
slots 3 n 4 said 22 n 21.
super fun.
i'm impressed.
great accuracy.

any other little cheats like that?

These aren't really cheats... just features really. But if you like cheats, here is a link to an MC3000 cheat sheet that's quite useful to find the right button presses without having to dig through the manual:
http://nkon.nl/sk/k/SkyRC_MC3000_Cheat_Sheet_-_English_-_rev._2017-07-09.pdf

Another helpful tip if you don't know it already, after placing however many batteries in the bays and selecting the program for each bay, just hold down the enter button (bottom row right button) for 2 seconds and all bays will start the selected programs. Just an easy way to start multiple charges at the same time.

One other tip: During charging hold down either the up or down arrow for 2 seconds and it will display the graph of one of the bay's program in real time. Press the up or down again to cycle through the different bays to see the graph of each bay. Press the exit button (bottom row far left) one time to stop the graph display. This will also display the chargers internal temp. If you want to see the individual battery temps while charging/discharging, just press the bay button (top button row) and scroll through the details.

The only feature this charger doesn't have that I wish it did is to be able to program the memory locations on the charger through the USB interface by computer. I haven't found a way to do this, but it would really make programming the memory locations easier. Maybe I just missed it, but it would be a really good feature. Programming by the buttons is really quite easy after you get over the learning curve, but programming by computer would be awesome.

that's super, jazz. thanks ever so much.
i'm slogging thru the manual but it's hard going n over my head.

That cheat sheet gives you a pretty good indication of what feature are available without reading the manual, which is really handy. Once you see a feature you want to use on the sheet you can easily find it in the manual if you want to dig a bit deeper. The charger has so many features the manual is a real slog to get through and after you read a couple of pages it's easy to forget what you read 3 pages ago. I guess that's the downside of so many features available, but the cheat sheet makes it quite a bit easier. But realistically, you are only going to use a small subset of available features.

Can you program this charger via Bluetooth and a smartphone or do you need to hook it up to a computer to program?

Depends on what you mean by programming. You can't change any of the 30 memory presets on the charger itself by Bluetooth or PC, but you can configure the charge/discharge/or whatever programming you want from BT or PC. Like with BT, you can setup the program you want and save it to a memory location on your device (I use a Kindle Fire HD tablet) and I have 10 preset programs I have setup and they are there forever unless I erase them (you can do more than 10, but that's what I have right now). You can start/stop/ and monitor the complete charging/discharging cycle if you want remotely. So yes you can program by either method, but they are separate programs from the programs you setup directly on the charger by the buttons.

Hope that helps.

Yep... it's a weird location for batteries and chargers... but it's always been that way. But it works once you realize chargers have a home to post in and after the first time you go there you know where it's at.

I had to read your post several times, no fault of yours just my tech naivety, but I think I understand. So via Bluetooth I could tell the charger to charge the cell in bay 1 to 4.0 at 1.5C. But I’d have to program that preset via usb link? Or can I set that up via Bluetooth. Sorry I’m not very tech advanced just trying to understand it’s capability. What I’m trying to figure is do I need a laptop to really take advantage of this charger or can I use a smartphone. Or is it silly to buy this charger if you don’t have a laptop/computer?

@madstabber, no it's not silly to get a SkyRC MC3000 charger if you don't have a computer.

Also found information on C rate for folks.
Charles-Augustin de Coulomb's C-Rate for Batteries

May we ask what batteries you would be charging? We can find the data sheets then, but offhand usually a 0.5C charge rate is optimal. And that is half the capacity of the cell.

Not your fault, I don't think I explained it well. Let's try this. You can program it with the buttons on the charger or you can program it with Bluetooth with a phone or tablet. Either way works, so it's either/or. One is not dependent on the other. And each of those methods have their own saved conditions so you can recall them easily. And yes, a phone works great. I use a phone or a tablet to start/stop a charge and monitor how the charge is going and when it's finished, so no need for a computer. Consider a computer a 3rd way to do the same thing.

To be honest, the PC is the least convenient way since you can't save preset charge/discharge conditions like you can with BT or the charger buttons. Every time you use the PC you just tell it what you want and tell it to start. But with the PC you can have it save a graph with all the information about that charge/discharge cycle and you can analyze the performance if you want. For techie types that's great information, but totally unnecessary really.

Excellent explanation, now I completely understand. I have the Miboxer C4-12 right now which I love but I’ve been checking out this SkyRC for awhile now and was curious if I could use it to its fullest capability not having a computer. Thanks for taking the time explaining this to me I really appreciate it. I happy with my charger situation right now but if something happens and I need a new one, the SkyRC is probably going to be my choice. As far as I’ve seen, there isn’t another charger that comes close to its features and capabilities. It’s in a class of its own.

Got my unit YAY and it's really good, still figuring out the bizarrely arcane ui. One thing that is driving me nuts is the constant beeping coming from the unit. I am really thinking about opening it up and ripping that speaker out. I did find a place in the ui to turn the beeps off but it does not stick perminatly, if you have to power cycle the charger it gets turned back on.
