Chipotle.
Looks to be just the wrapper, I've seen lots of authentic VTC4 and VTC5 cells do this and I've never been certain as to the actual cause but it does seem to have something to do with the factory Sony wrapper, the VTC cells I have that I re-wrapped myself have not done this. You shouldn't worry, it's not actually affecting anything with the battery operation nor is it a sign of any real issue.

Thank you for posting this along with a pic. Helped many I am sure and that is what ecf is all about.

That's what this is all about, knowledge and teaching....Very happy I found ECF

Thanks for the quick responses, Wasn't going to touch these until I knew for sure what the issue was, relieved when i realized it wasn't any sort of battery fluid or something like that, it is dry and even tried squeezing the battery in that area to see if any fluid was seeping etc

If there was a breach, the acrid, nasty smell coming from the battery would be tough to miss. So as long as they don't stink, you're good to go! I mean... um... they're ruined! Please send them to me so I can dispose of them properly!

Hehe....ya I gave it a sniff to

OK, its in the mail ;) and I wont.........

This can also be caused by handling the batteries whilst you have e-juice on your fingers or if you've placed them down where there might have been some juice these wraps soak them up faster than mesh there need only be a very very small amount like a drop of water on tissue it spreads quickly but as retrox stated unless you get that battery smell I believe you should be ok.
