That is some excellent digging, Kat! Thanks for sharing. Very informative. Will have to re-visit this to let it sink in properly.

LOL, it will most likely never sink in for me. Whomever can understand all that, welp, you're a better man than I.

Lovely read Kat. Though, a bit too technical for the common folk.

What do you think about the Panasonic NCR series using the NNP + HRL tech? I think it's pretty fantastic. I would highly recommend them. I've done some controlled short circuit heating tests with great results. It does what they say it does. *gasp*

I'm prolly right there at the bottom of the common folk list, ZeroDis. And I completely agree it's way too technical. I sort of had a feeling that some of the members who frequent this thread might enjoy it and gain some insights. For me? Welp, yeah no. It was really for you guys. :)

One caveat to that article: It's from 2011. Not that the info in it became untrue, but other technologies are moving forward.

The fact that technologies are changing, in no way should be used to discredit this information.

If you have updated info on any of the points in the piece, that could be useful information to share.

I know what you are doing dear dr g.

I'm bored.

Sounds about right. I didn't crush the battery though.

I hard soldered a 100A battery contactor across the terminals with 8AWG wiring and let it do its thing. No catastrophic events, just some significant heating. 100C+ Next time I decide to do some destructive testing, I'll film it.

Total summation: I love the batteries. High capacity, low ESR, and the NCR18650PD has a pretty good discharge rating and I use them in my mech mods. Fused of course, just to be safe.

My thanks mate. Wish I could find that CH vid. He basically connected two wires from each terminal together. He got scared after that point and would not turn on the timer. He did hit it with infra red and I think highest he got was ~ 180c after 10 mins or so.
Thanks again.

That's why I didn't discredit it, in fact I credited it. Don't read what I'm not saying.

What I AM saying though, is that some newer technologies are not well-covered in that article. Articles like this form the "conventional wisdom" that has OTHER people discrediting anything other than IMRs for example.

You credited it? Would you point me to that, please?

Don't read what you're not saying? HUH? I think we all read exactly what you're saying...understanding it is another thing.

dr g, I don't know if it's your bedside manner, or your insistence on arguing almost every single post by almost anyone, or that perhaps you are thinking certain things but not typing them...

but it nearly impossible for me to understand you. Whenever I see your name pop up, I cringe thinking another argument will ensue.

Depending on what I'm vaping on that day, decides which battery I use and also carry. I use a lot of mods that take an 18350 battery. Oh my goodness, I always throw in a very small battery case that will hold 2 AW IMR 18350 batteries. The entire thing is small enough to fit in my pocket of dress pants. Any larger and the cases go in the lunch box.
(yes some of us old fogies still carry a lunch box, and also a small lunch box full of different flavors and certain things to keep vaping all day)( That's why they call it lunch).

Same thoughts here. Most of the dr's comments are on the negative and critical perspective. To me, he often comes across as arrogant and condescending. "Not that there's anything wrong with that..." and not attacking him personally (ECF moderator disclaimer). But that is the way he comes across to me. Me thinks he needs some people skills.

Arrogance (an insulting way of thinking or behaving that comes from believing that you are better, smarter, or more important than other people [noncount] ▪ His arrogance has earned him a lot of enemies.▪ We were shocked by the arrogance of his comments. [singular] ▪ They have an arrogance about them. [=there is something in their behavior that seems arrogant]

Condescending? (disapproving: showing that you believe you are more intelligent or better than other people).

Not meant to be a personal attack on you dr g. I just believe people would accept your commentary more willingly if you weren't so arrogant and condescending in your comments. You sometimes appear to have some useful knowledge to share here, but your manner of delivery turns a lot of people off.

Harsh truths will always be better than sweet lies. A fact is fact no matter how it's said or who says it.

That may be true, dr g, but the wanted result of communication is a statement heard. If one's method of delivery causes people to ignore the message, then communication ceases.

Is it your intent to be understood and to communicate?

Generally I find that people who are hung up on how I say what I say aren't my target audience. They tend to read malice and falsity into posts that don't exist. They are usually lost causes. I'm not writing for them, but to counteract misinformation for others who are reading with a critical mind.
