My wife is finally ready to start transitioning to E-cigs, so I bought her a 510 kit. I didn't want to use the standard atomizer/cartridges though, so along with it I bought a pack of Bauway 1.8ohm single-coil cartomizers, as I figured that's probably pushing the limits of the 510 battery but should still be within an acceptable range.
Now, these things are long -- almost exactly as long as a standard 510 battery, so they make for a pretty lengthy yet slender PV. (Still not as long as the eGo-T battery with the eGo Mega DC carto though.) But being as large as they are they also hold a good bit of liquid. I tested three cartos so far with three liquids: Top Vapor Chocolate Mint and Spearmint from madvapes (24mg, whatever their PG/VG mixture is) and Caramel Butter Pecan (24mg) which is my own mixture (25/75 VG/PG).
Pros
As far as performance goes, these things are fantastic. Ridiculous clouds of nice lukewarm vapor rivalling a fresh dual coil. The TH isn't as prominent as it is on a DC, but it's still pretty solid. These things hold a good bit of liquid, probably somewhere around 1.5ml or so, so topping off is very infrequent. The center tube is larger than the SmokTech dual coils, which makes for a nice, easy draw that isn't too airy. That larger hole of course means less filler surrounding it, but it's made up for in its length.
Cons
These don't vape as dry as the dual coils, which is probably because not all of the liquid makes its way to the coil; some likely gets stuck somewhere out of the coil's reach. Even so I'd say you can probably still get a good 80% of the juice out of it before topping up, so that's not much of a complaint, although where the DCs tend to become suddenly dry-tasting, these start fading and tasting unpleasant a little more slowly. Of greater concern is the very inconsistent construction. While I've noticed no difference so far in performance from one carto to the next, I've noticed differences both in the length of the filler/tube, and the machining of the threads. Two cartos looked fairly normal with about a quarter inch of space between the top of the carto and where the filler begins. A third had filler and tube almost right up against the cap. Again, that isn't a huge deal. Of still greater concern however were the threads. The first carto I tried had a properly machined connector that threaded onto the battery just fine. The second was roughly threaded and was a little difficult to screw on without applying some extra torque in spots. The third was in between -- a little easier to thread on but still rough. I was concerned I'd strip either them or the threading on my battery. These issues speak to some QC issues over at Bauway.
I haven't hit a bum one yet, so that's good, but the QC issues with the construction to concern me to the point where I worry that the chances of getting one are greater than they should be. Indeed, at least one review for the higher resistance cartos on MadVapes mentioned dead cartos.
Still, despite the construction issues, I really love how these perform. They don't seem to suck too much extra juice from the 510 battery so I'm still getting a decent amount of life out of them, and their performance is very good to the degree that I'm willing to chance buying these again when I need more.
