Thanks for the great feedback Count! Good to know the difference in dimensions and the fact the battery is bigger on the 50w istick makes it appealing. The smaller ones are likely not a good fit for my hand.

Interesting that you had some faultiness with one of your mvps. I kind of forgot that I have a situation with one as well. I say forgot, because I've stopped using the bad one for the most part. While my original one still works great and holds the charge quite well, another mvp2 that I bought in October does not hold the charge as well anymore. From a full charge, it goes down to 3.9 almost instantly and the rest of the capacity goes about twice as fast as my other one. Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't be so enamored of my mvps after all! LOL

I actually picked up a 50w. I have owned two MVP2's. One developed a fault with the chip (out of warranty--will read resistance, but won't fire); the other is still hanging in there, but I've noticed it will not hold a charge as long as it used to (sometimes for just half a day). Since the MVPs have been my everyday device, I needed to pick something up quick. I had been holding out for reviews on the MVP3, but the 50w came out just a few days earlier and so I ordered one.

The 50w is actually close to the size of the MVP2 in size--it's a little wider than the the MVP2 and a little shorter. The 20w and 30w are just on the small side for my hands, but the 50w is big enough for me to grip firmly. The round edges make the grip comfortable, the fire button works great in the trigger location, and I use my pinkie finger to hold the device from the bottom (much like I do when gripping the MVP). It seems pretty solid, but I suspect that the brick design of the MVP would outlast the istick in the ruggedness department. Still, not a bad deal. I would consider picking up another--but probably after I scrape the funds together for a new MVP3.

Oddly enough, the MVP that is still working for me is the first one that I got back in April or May. The one that died is one that I picked up in July or August. Maybe it was a QC thing?

Probably. The funny thing is that I also bought an itaste vv v3 around the same time as my first mvp and that is still working great too, with a ton of recharges. It's little battery probably outlasts the "bad" mvp that was bought half a year later.

5. Building a coil. I went to eBay and bought this spool of wire. It was a lot (spool around 3 / 4 inches wide and a couple inches wide). Hey I got it at a great price! So I put everything that I needed to do the job on hubby’s work table. My first step was to cut a piece of wire which I did. My next step (of course) was to let go of the end connected to the spool. Let me tell you that that wire started coming off the spool faster than a jackrabbit can run.
Not as bad as this but close enough.

My final act was to toss it the mangled mess in the garbage. There is a happy ending to this though. DH retrieved it and succeeded where I failed.

 thats welding wire please tell me you were'nt really going to try and build coils with that

I know kanthal is the preferred wire for most but...
Has anyone tried or do you use royal wire?

never tried it. I do have some nichrome wire I have tried once. I used to have kanthal on the site but have pulled it off due to slow sales. still have 36, 34, 32, 30, 28, 27, 26, 24, 22 hanging around

02/20/2015 Entry #3 . . . Forgot this

Never heard oh horehound? Never? That was one of my favorite candies growing up. It's somewhere between licorice and root beer.

NOPE - NEVER . . . Although, the flavor of the "candy" does sound interesting to have tried, but being diabetic I tend to avoid just any product with sugar/sugar substitutes . . . AND - Now with all "My" new dietary limitations for another problem I have - I don't think that it will happen any time soon either . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

Yeah, I like the closeness and helpfulness of a contest like this too. We decided to pretty much keep it to vaping so it won't turn into a mass spam contest.

I feel like some of those contests out there might be fun, but how many people actually look at the vendors site, and how many even remember what they are playing for? You and I have been on one for a vendor in NY, who you have visited in person, since he started. Remember how friendly and close everyone used to be on his contest threads? And how everyone on there bought from him? Now his contests are just like everyone else's, and nobody talks about his products and service.

That's how I wanted this one to be. I wanted it to be like the contests he used to have.

Uncle, I have a bone to pick with you, your avatar makes you look like a grizzly old north wind, and we have too much of that here. You really need to change into a kind, gentle, warm spring breeze!!! :D

First - YES - If anyone can get that going - it's "YOU" . . . AND - I agree, when that contest thread started it was different then most, but I do believe the "community atmosphere" is still going strong, although there is not as much "Chit-Chat" as before . . . Matter of fact, to be very honest - IMO - The original contest went as far as it could, as with any contest (even as this one will) where it is based on posting "Stuff" from a vendors site, especially after the first few times it can get quite tedious - if not outright boring for a number of reasons . . . Also - from what little I know (which usually is not much ), most contest threads are very limited to what can and cannot be done because of ECF Supplier/Vendors TOS and :rules: . . . As such - Based on what ECF wants done, usually "Chit Chat" is kept in one thread where people talk about the vendor/suppliers product line, including forming a special community and then having a contest in another thread . . . So - I guess it comes down to and just depends on what the supplier/vendor and the contest helper can do to keep people interested and on task while keeping the "Chit Chat" alive too . . . Just Sayin' . . .

EDIT: AND - As "You" probably know by now, I stay out of a lot of contest threads that get "SLAMMED" by just some contestants so they can WIN - NOT NICE ! ! ! Just Sayin' . . .

NOW Just for "YOU" - "My" Friend . . . Although, not really a new "Winter" Avatar, I've changed it to something (I Hope) just little more interesting to look at for a few weeks . . .

When I started vaping I remember reading posts about preparing for some kind of vapocalypse where people were stocking up on everything and thinking to myself that this was a bit of over reacting. Now, not so much. The way vaping is portrayed and handled in many localities is just bonkers.

This is not just my excuse for buying everything I see :), but it helps!

I stocked up on nicotine concentrate when the FDA scare hit ECF....back in 2011, still have a big bottle left, it's still perfectly clear, clean tasting and has the same kick as when I bought it. I've increased my freezer stock, and replenish it as I use it up. As I've decreased my nic intake it's lasting a lot longer now, at 30-36mg it used to go fast.

They sure are popular. I have been an mvp2 user for a long time and I am wondering if I should switch over to these isticks or get one of the new 30 watt mvp mods? I love the sturdy feel of my mvp and the battery does not seem to wear out over many months of use. I'd love to know how the istick batteries will last over the long haul, but we may need time to tell us that. The size might be small for my hand as well for the istick, as the mvp just fits my grip well. Anyone have an opinion on the sturdiness of the istick? Does it fee like it can take some wear and tear?

The iSticks use Li-Po batteries which usually have 3-4 times the number of recharge cycles of LiMn, the trick may be in how long the electronics and mechanics (510 connector) last....:)

Regarding contests, I never bothered with them for a long while. I spend my ECF time in other threads, Modding forum, and some others. As I progressed in vaping I answered questions in Ask the Vets, and New Members, a little PIF.

I've found with so much new stuff coming out, and having found my own vaping sweet spot, I had too often Google items to understand what a NooB was even talking about. The contest with Chit Chat are a great way to discuss vaping with people of all experience, have a few laughs, and discuss equipment in a relaxed atmosphere. Still peruse the Ask the Vets (great source of info - no trolling), Batteries and Chargers, New Members and RTA, but find less threads I can contribute to sensibly.

Some contest are just fun, and laughs but before entering I always check the vendor's site. If they don't carry anything I might buy, or the prices are out of bounds, I see no sense in entering.

Getting rid of the springy is the reason. Tried a couple times without doing it to see what would happen. Took wire from the spool, wrapped and the coil opened up a bit. If I torch the wire before wrapping it stays a lot better. I don't worry about torching after it's wrapped (unless I didn't get it tight).

when I go to use a new spool of wire I do this to keep the wire from unraveling on me.
use an exacto knife to put anywhere from 4 to 8 holes around the edge. I clip the wire and let it fall on the table without letting go of the tail, then poke the end thru one of the holes and then bend it over viola!

Me as well. Both of my v3's are still doing well. Granted, I use them mostly for when I run errands, but, as such, each one sees use just about every other day. They work well with my evod glass tanks.

#1..

oh boy, back from the freezer, I mean outside.

What I need bruce does not carry but if he did, a 25,000 BTU heater would ROCK!!.

But for my vaping needs, you can't beat IPV2X

on cold days. Ya just take the usb cord and stick it in your mouth for the warm, tingly warm feeling.

smiles

It also just starts those with low heartbeats.....

Thanks for letting me know he doesn't have to weld it. I think there are two different kinds of nickel, or maybe one is something called Nichrome or something, which might be an alloy of nickel and chromium??? I think I need to research this so I know what I am talking about!!!!

Kathi If you want to try some just let me know and I will send you some

Interesting - Never heard of "Horehound" before . . . "Hore" - YEP . . . "Hound" - YEP . . . But "Horehound" - NOPE . . . ;)

Now - Are Ya' Willing To Share The Recipe . . . ;)

smiley-face-thumbs-up-animation-thumbsup.gif
As "You" probably know already - I couldn't agree more, especially since I am involved in a few threads where "We" do this already and know this works very well . . . Well - That is as long as people don't get carried away with frivolous and/or superficial "STUFF" just to post so that they are entered into a contest . . . IMO - "Chit-Chat" Is Always GOOD ! ! ! especially since it creates a closer community of like minded people that are interested in the the vendor's products and can help each other out finding what will work for them too . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

2-20-3

Horehound is a mint... not a strong one though.

These aren't my recipes and there are several out there.

Can search for Pluid clone or Black Widow but here are a couple I found online that we like
I lowered percentages in this one but kept them equal

18.9% tfa Absinthe
5.4% Horehound
1.6% Smooth... not tfa... I use .5% Apple Cider Vinegar instead
1.5% Orange

Here is another
7% Black Tea
5% Absinthe
4% Ecto Kooler........ can sub lemon lime as it just needs a citrus of some sort
3% Horehound
1% Cotton Candy

yet another
1% Absinthe ..........I upped it to 5%
2% Horehound ...... I did 3%
3% Kiwi Double
1% Koolada or menthol
2% Marshmallow .... this gives sweet and fluffy. I dropped it to 1% and added .5% Cider Vinegar instead
2% Orange Cream
2% Tangerine.......... I subbed 4% Mandarin Orange for the Orange and tangerine

Don't like the TFA Black Tea so find another. You get the idea here... Absinthe, some citrus, a little sweet, and a little something to change the vape texture.

All these need REALLY good shakes and 2 wks to a month steep with a shake here and there. Seems to be quite a few variations of both these juices floating about. Guess the real Pluid is antifreeze green and you sorta have to get on a waiting list for it. Never tried the real stuff so don't know if these are close or not, just that we really enjoy this sort of combo. Tank crackers for sure and I thought the combo felt so wrong and was scared at first but somehow they just work for me.
