Because I have done a little bit of research and I came to the conclusion after reading a few studies that show nicotine left out in air and in light only degraded the nicotine by about 3% over the course of 2 months. And all that happened was a reduced amount of testable nicotine. As for the oxidization of nicotine the only effect this has is a loss of flavor and a slight color change IF oxidization happens at all.
Well what I can tell you for FACT is nic does not oxidize AS fast (not that oxidation is always a bad thing) at lower concentrations. I can leave some menthol juice sitting caps off for a week and a month later it will remain clear as a bell. Personally I get my advice from people with either a background in chemistry such as John from WL or people who have been mixing juice a very long time. I highly trust the people who make juice for a living and have stores lined up to resell what they make.
And yes it's the alcohol and or solvents we are trying to get rid of by removing the caps. I also want my nic (once mixed) to oxidize and mature unless I plan to sit it on a shelf for 10 years. But most people never even consider that most plastic ejuice bottles are not air tight anyway. So whatever oxygen people are trying to avoid is likely coming in contact with their juice anyway.
I think steeping for the most part is overated, 99% of a good juice is quality ingredients and a good recipe, 1% is a steeping imo. I think time can sometime make juice a tad better, but not the night and day difference some people preach.
I'd say most of the diy-ers I come into contact with here use glass for their nic solution and mixes. The only time I personally use plastic is when making 5 ml testers.
Crunk,
RY4D is my EDV.
Ummmm...bad analogy...
We're not using small organisms to convert sugars to ethanol, nor are we extracting wood sugars out of solid barrel staves.
Can you come up with something along the lines of tea or powdered drink mix that makes the same point? Maybe a Mio reference for the young crowd?

"Maybe they would say their drinking wine/beer as soon as the yeast is mixed in. and thats okay "
These 100% facts say everyone has different tastes and can be quite satisfied with their own likes but fact is fact. Maybe they would say their drinking wine/beer as soon as the yeast is mixed in.and thats okay but hopefully they keep that to themselves and not state its quality flavoring that makes it ok-- guess what its not, there's no way to beat the science fact of maturity.

I think it is wiser to listen to the pros myself but to each his/her own.
There's another subject for debate. The world is full of self-appointed pros/experts. Go to any forum on any topic, just turn on your television...political pundits (sic)...but since we're in this forum...I see a lot of people here who perceive certain individuals as experts to the point of idolatry. If I go around repeating something that I heard my perceived experts say....does this likewise make me an expert or a fool?
If your only reference to steeping is RY4, I'm out of it.
I've never eaten, drank, or smoked an RY4 so the whole idea of making an RY4 to vape is completely foreign to my thought process. Why would I vape something that I have no idea what it's suppose to taste like and because of that there are numerous threads on ECF where vapers argue about what a "real" RY4 tastes like. It's an imaginary thing that means different things to different people, that much is fairly obvious, so taking a firm stance that it MUST be done one way just strikes me as heaping more silliness upon the subject.
If you think brewing or wine making is anything remotely like mixing flavorings with PG and VG, we'll never find common ground. Granted, it's been a few years since I've made beer, wine, and liquor, but I know the way I've found flavors come together with mixing for over 4 years is nothing like any process that uses yeast.
If steeping stuff makes you happy, that's great. Steep the blazes out of it and enjoy. I'm taking issue with you taking a stance that someone is doing their mixing/vaping wrong because they don't do it your way. And that your analogy is very poorly constructed. I'm real confident in my understanding of mixing and how flavors combine in mixing, so if your thought is that I don't understand flavors, flavoring, mixing, and combining to get a certain taste, then feel free to ask around and see how many agree with your apparent deduction.

You truly do not understand what happens in wine making but act as though you do..
Do you think fairies make the flavoring you use?
Your education and understanding of the extract process is to juvenile for my "analogy" to make sense.
So you made beer? lol How does it become beer, no wait how is extract we use made that you know so much about. It takes time plain and simple...
Yeah your still a noob..
No wait your right your way is better than us who enjoy steeping and five pawns e juice is overpriced etc etc..
When your young you make a rudimentary pie its the best pie ever and thats fine..
Lol holy shiz yes and no, its exactly what I am saying without aging there would not be many good flavor extracts.Fact - Age has an affect on flavor when the origin itself in changing/aging/fermenting, like with grains, fruits, etc. Their compositions are actually changing.
Opinion - Aging a mix is best.
Fact - No one perceives flavors the same. Thus, you're perception of what is good is not the same as other's.
What? - "There's no way to beat the science fact of maturity."
Are you saying that it's a scientific fact that 1) things age/mature? 2) age/maturity makes flavors better?
1 is a fact; 2 is an opinion.
