Good work @mamabear15. I just put a build in the Bellus this morning. The f***ing thing leaks 99% of the time.
I've found that with the bellus's huge juice channels. The best thing to do is stuff them about as full as you can. Since there so big you really don't have to worry about a dry hit. Also i use rayon so might be dif for cotton. Oh and after topfilling flip the tank upside down. If the air pressure does change alot and want to leak it'll stop it from happening. You can even puff it while upside down to make sure the air pressure won't fluctuate.

I mean honestly this works more like a dripper than a tank IMO because with the huge slots that constantly pour juice into the bottom, the ends of the wicks are basically sitting in liquid constantly wicking. It isn't like the old tanks where the chimney screwed down to the base and the liquid could only enter by a small channel. Don't know of that makes sense outside my head or not...but whether I run it in normal dual or my weird single mode, it always seems to come down to how far the wicks go down the channel -- I've used cotton & rayon both in it and I honestly prefer cotton on this one

When you get this thing right, it knocks your socks off. I'm still getting a little leaking when I top fill, but that just seems to be the nature of the beast. I've tried different ways of wicking it, but what works best for me is basically stuffing the channels. Doing it this way, I'm not getting any dry hits.

The biggest problem for me, and yes, I'm sure it's me, is the deck. I received my Griffin around the same time I got the Bellus, and the velocity style deck of the Griffin is much easier for me to build on. The Bellus has been a pain in the neck, but I finally got it right. And when you do, it's beautiful.

I'm running ss with an i.d. of 2.4mm and 6 wraps. I hope these coils last for me a while, because I don't know when i'll have the patience to build new ones.

How'd it go??
The draw of the Bellus was too stiff for me so it was gathering dust for months now. As far as how I like your new found method....I really like it....the draw is much much better than using the Bellus in single coil mode with the adapter. The taste is really awesome ....the vapor production is darn good. It improved the Bellus experience for me in every way except one. I still can't use the top fill without the Bellus flooding or leaking. I have to bottom fill it like before.

Someone else on this thread mentioned a trick on that - after top filling with airflow closed, to turn it upside down before opening airflow and let the excess drain...it isn't ever much that comes out that way...wasn't my idea on that part but I've tried it and like it lol

If the wicking is right there shouldn't be any need to close the afc when filling. The afc isn't tight enough to seal the tank anyway so if the wicking isn't right the deck will flood anyway.

My Bellus is totally bone dry...not a drop leaks out of it ever.... except when I fill. I have already tried closing the AFC and turning it upside down when tightening the top cap. Nothing seems to work for me. Maybe its because I like to use thin liquid.

I've been using 50/50 liquid in mine, and unless I've made bad wicks I never leak on filling (or otherwise). Here's what works for me:

1. Wicks cut to sit in the groove at the top of the juice channels
2. Close the airflow before filling
3. Screw the cap snug right away, don't wait (I don't invert, either)
4. Draw with a short pulse with the airflow closed
5. Draw with a short pulse with the airflow half-open
6. Open up full and vape away...2-3 pulls later I stop worrying altogether.

I tried everything you said....didn't work out to well... still got really bad flooding. Thanks for the suggestions anyway.

Sorry about that! I'm sure I'm not describing it well enough, or I'm leaving something out. Wicks are thick cotton, fat bowties and the ends are right-sized to generally cover the top of the juice channels. Like I said before, I don't let them extend past the groove at the top; no tails, and certainly not packing the channel - first time I tried that, it started out fine, but then siphoned all my juice out the airflow when sitting overnight. I prime the wicks with juice to check how they lay before reassembly. I sit the base in an atty stand so I can drop the tank on and make sure both tabs snap in fully and squarely on both sides, then rings on and snugged up good. Then proceed as above.

I just did it again, filling up with 50/50, and not a drop was seen outside the glass. Well, just a tiny splooge out the alternate fill hole when I overfilled a tad. Napkin wipe before it went down the pipe.

When you say flooding, do you mean leaking out the airflow? Or wet gurgling hits? I get the latter if my wicks aren't thick enough.

Yeah a lot of flooding of the deck which led to leaking out of the air holes. I even tried using a lot more cotton and running the cotton all the way down the channels as well....same deal didn't make any difference.

The only time i can top fill the Bellus successfully is if I vape it (with temp control) so the cotton is almost bone dry and then refill it.
