Wow.... lol. I really appreciate the quick flood of information everyone. I now understand the purpose behind these devices.

After being told about their usage though, I think I'm in agreement with Shootist though, I can't really see the need to try out sub-ohming now that I know what it is and does.

All of my hardware is in the 1.8-3.2 ohm range, and even in a month when I order my first kayfun I don't see myself building coils that would be any lower than around 1.4 or 1.5

That pretty much just leaves me with the curiosity about a box mod similar to the MVP 2, (vv/vw) but that would utilize my 18650 batteries... If such a device exists. Obviously I don't need a high watt device. Something under $100 (since I'm not even sure if I'll like the feel of one) that allows for vv/vw and preferably will take an 18650 battery. I have a ton of them and really dislike devices you have to actually plug in to recharge because I'm such a heavy vaper.

The Innokin VTR is under $100 and you may use your 18650 batteries 15w max output But a great device.I have two MVP 2's and love them also several mech mods and a DNA 30 box clone on the way.

Hey that is actually perfect for what I'm looking for in a box mod. Bookmarked! lol. I watched one of the few video reviews on YouTube (really weren't that many considering)... I'll definitely watch some more because I noticed two things in that video I wasn't fond of. The first was that you have to unscrew a screw to swap out batteries. Not a deal breaker, just kind of annoying. The other thing is EXTREMELY subjective so just something personal (and the reason I'll be watching other videos for it), the reviewer was using his index finger for the fire button. I've grown very accustom to using my thumbs for this over time, and I don't think switching to my index finger would be comfortable. It just makes me wonder if the device would be awkward to hold in your hand so that your thumb would be in place for the fire button.

Other than those two minor concerns, I'm just about sold on adding it to my collection in the near future.

You don't have to swap out batteries. It will charge battery via usb cable.
They deliberately tried to make it like an MVP but with replaceable battery.
You can even charge cellphone from it like the mvp.

The e-LVT is fast becoming my favorite mod. And I like the side button much better than the button on the face like on my Firebox.

Just don't drop it in the toilet bowl :)

Do you use your thumb or finger for the fire button? And I noticed you mentioned it becoming your favorite, do you have any non box mods? If so, how easy was the transition?

For 18650 batteries, the VTR is a good choice. However you are limited to 19mm or less if you don't want to use the provided extension.

For DNA30 I have a Vaporshark. It has a lipo battery like the MVP, but for me it lasts about a day. There is an 18650 version coming soon. For me, it is about have the capacity available to me if I want it. Currently I'm at 12W.

Unless your building coils, you will find if you go much above 8w your juice will burn and taste like crap.

I don't build so high power devices seemed like a waste for me, but the new joyetech delta tank has stock triple coils with an overall resistance of 1.4ohm, and this is supposed to be the non-rba made for highpower device with the sweet spot around 24w. Have a look at twisted 420's review, this is what made me order the delta tank, and also order a dna30-type device

I hold the mod in my right hand and use my middle finger - or rather, the middle phalanx of my middle finger. That way, when I vape, the mod lays flat and tilted toward me. That's important because I line up the coil and the air hole to face away from me and upward, so the juice pools at the other end of the atty and doesn't flood the coil. I do the same with all my mods: it lets me control how wet the coil is by tilting the device more or less.

There is no transition period really: with a stick mod, you pick it up, and half of the times, you have to rotate it so the button ends up under your finger of choice (and in my case, so the air hole ends up facing up). With a box mod, you just pick it up and it lands naturally where it should be in your hand.

Also, a box mod can rest on its side on a table and not roll away.

I bought my Provari about a week ago, and so for it's been great. I build coils on my Kayfun clones and I usually do around 1.5 - 1.8 ohms because that's what has been the most enjoyable to me. After I bought it, I realized I could have gotten the Vapershark DNA 30 for about as much as I paid for my Provari. It seems like I could have had the best of both worlds, even though sub ohming doesn't really interest me. I don't try to show off or impress anyone/myself with enormous clouds. I've come across people at a vape shop that try to "1-up" me after I just take a normal vape while looking at accessories. One person would blow a huge cloud and just kind of look at me with a stupid look on his face, like he was waiting for me to be impressed or come up and ask "OMG dude how you do that wowzorz!" I just continued looking and left the shop.... and broke his poor little hear :( Anyways I may look into the clone on fasttech just so I could "have" one of I wanted to experiment.

The thing I didnt like about that elvt was the size. the thing looks massive especially not having a recessed 510. It looks pretty cool and durable, but I have a hard time with the overall size. doesn't seem very pocket friendly.

the cana mod has been working great for me. one thing to watch for is over discharge, it doesn't seem to stop firing even after the battery indicator is empty. I havent pulled the battery to test it at that point to see if its threating over discharge, but its something to watch for. Also, the indicator light that it is charging is always red, so i'm not sure if its constantly trying to charge the battery or if there is some internal limit to 4.2v, and the light just doesnt change colors. I have a hard time recommending this mod because of these fears, though - again, i haven't actually pulled the meter out to test it.

most box mods seem to have screw on backs. I now there are some exceptions, but by and large i think this is the trend. I was hesitent at first too, but really, if you are charging via usb (which some dont recommend) its not a big deal. also, if you have to carry around a small screwdriver to fill your kayfun anyway, it works out.

as far as >20w - its a nice feature to have for if you do get into rebuildables - also, I've seen some reviewers bump the nautilus mini up to 30w with no problem... so there's something to chew on.

I have the Sigelei authentic sx-200, Had the DNA30 Hanna Clone and fried it because of reverse polarity. They could not afford a 65 cent diode? Then came my real Pioneer Yihi IMV50v2 50 Watt SX-330.

I know people are working on 100 and 200 watts but I have not found a single wick/coil build juice that does not start to burn my lungs at 50 Watts.

I thing realistically 30 Watts is great with Kanthal, Cotton. The Fatdaddy Vape Donuts are good but after that I think you can really hurt yourself inhaling at that temp.
