DC tanks are meant for the longer (45mm I think) cartos and those are the smoktech dual coils. I tried a dual coil in a tank once and it kept flooding. I'm heard similar stories. Anyway, I use the 1.7ohm single coil smoktech (also called the resurrector) in my "DC" tanks. they are long enough, come in stainless steel and wick great for me. I'm hearing that Boge is coming out with a xxl single coil carto that will be long enough for the DC tanks but even though most people love boge, I haven't had good luck with them as far as wicking. I can get them to wick buy taking dry pulls and venting but that gets old after a while. Also, they're so short and the tank is so short, I have to fill the tank more often. with the longer tanks, one fill will last most all day. A syringe tank mod cut to the smoktech carto length actually holds 7ml of juice! A full syringe tank, cut an inch and a half long will last me 2 whole days between fills!

A good example of the two lengths of tanks is the submarine tank and the mini sub tank at momandpopvaporshop. The longer sub tank is meant for the smoktech cartos that are xxl. the mini is meant to be used with the shorter boge. I like the sub tank style because they add a side port for filling, makes filling a breeze. When I fill a grommet style tank (one without a side fill port) with a syringe, it's hard to fill it while letting the displaced air inside the tank escape. If that air doesn't escape, it causes too much air pressure inside the tank which will result in the juice being forced through the punched hole in the carto and out the bottom of the carto (leaking) I know I tend to post this over and over but it's true, I hated having to fill my tank by trying to slip the needle between the grommet and tank.. it was hard to get the air pressure right. The fill port eliminates this problem.
I'll never use another tank without a fill port.

I've never used a carto with a flange so I can't answer that. the grommet style tanks like the chibi and the sub tanks use vinyl grommets that fit very snug so a flange isn't needed. I also use a homemade syringe tank and while I love it and it works awesome, I do have to be careful handling it. Today my device was in my purse, I reached in to get it and was in a hurry and mistakenly grabbed it by the tank.. needles to say, the tank slipped right out of the carto and dumped about 3ml of juice in my purse! My purse now smells like vanilla cookies LOL. The grommet style tanks fit so snug that I can hold my device by the tank without fear that it will slide up or down. the syringe tank works so well and is so cheap to make ( actually it's free.. I can get 20cc syringes at work for free) that it's well worth the extra caution I have to take when I use it.

I haven't tried a dual coil in a tank since I started drilling fill holes in all my tanks. I bought a couple and trade for a couple tanks for reference and now make my own. I may try a dual coil carto again and see how it does in a tank with a fill port. But I won't buy the prepunched cartos that have the flange.. Those cartos cost a lot more than the ones without the prepunched hole. It's easy to punch my own holes. Also, with the devices I use, my tanks rest on the device, so if they are going to slide, it will slide up, not down. But then again, the only tanks I use that slide are the syringe tanks and it rests nicely on top of my provari.
