If you want a filler mod that works great, lasts a long time without having to top off, requires no special tools, go with Highping's simple cart mod.

My only regret is that I spent hours of frustration cutting straws, teabags, silicone plugs and cluttering my desk with all kinds of tools and gadgets and I still was not satisfied with the results. I'm not putting down anyone's mod, they all work great for many people. It's kinda like finding the right PV and juice.....different strokes for different folks. Give this one a try. You have nothing to lose.

I had read the Highping SCM some time ago and had some plug slipping.

I tried the blue foam listed here and had some leaking.

I combined the two with about a half inch of blue foam at the bottom (510 cart) and a plug of original filler at the top. I cut the blue foam to the width of the cart + about .02, don't want it to compress too much. Works great for me, akin to dripping.

The only fiddling with the PV I have to do: when you first use the chock full cart take a few glorious puffs to avoid flooding. I keep the PV parked vertical, atty up , until the fluid is used up a bit. I reposition my parking position as the fluid empties to keep optimal vapor conditions.

After this report on my changes I'll shut up already.

I cut the Marineland foam to about .400" lngth, then cap with original poly. I'm keeping my PV atty down to keep the wicking constant, I was overfilling it before.

I fill a weeks worth of carts this way-- I usually don't have the time during the week and can't drip.

Good luck finding what works for you.
