Every once in a while I would get a faint burnt taste BUT I feel that its due to an empty atty and not the actual burning of the PTB material. If I feel that there is still some juice in the cart I would take a strong drag followed by a smother drag and its immediately better. I guess its just pulling more juice on the bridge.

"R" plug mod: this was working well but when i found that the juice was staying at the folds I moved to the folded, rolled, frayed plug mod. But since there was still some juice in it i turned the "R" upside down and vaped the rest.

The new mod im using has very few frayed ends near the atty (if any) this will ensure that we are not burning things we dont want burnt.

Phone: AT&T Fuze, i really like it, Im not sure that the youtube video does it justice but i like it. it makes it easy to make these videos and upload. funny, Im sitting it on top of a rubiks cube to hold it up while I shoot.

hope this helps

Hello, my first post. I've been Vaping about a month.
I am constantly reading this forum and trying things. I tried the pyramid tea bag, rolled, shredded, and it didn't seem to drain the liquid very well for me, I was always having to top it off. I also had the atomizer melt my cartidges, so now i'm down 2 cartidges. I got thinking about the aquarium filter material, which I haven't seen, but Imagined what it would be like. I thought I'd try cutting a piece of a Buff Puff (white). I ran across a generic one in the grocery store for .99. I bought 2. I cut a piece and stuffed my cartidge, and Its working perfectly, drains my cartridge every time. I use the Dragon M401 from Truesmoker.com.

Its a Facial Cleansing Sponge, teardrop shapped. You can look it up on Amazon to see pictures, search for Buff Puff Facial Sponge. I bought a cheap generic kind for .99 at the grocery store. It's usually located in with facial cleansers or makeup section. I know CVS has it, I'm sure Walgreen's, I got mine at Stop & Shop. I bought the cheapie kind so I didn't sacrifice the ones I use at home. I googled Buff Puff MSDS Sheets to find out what it was made of, it didn't give any information on if it was heated. I have been using it for 4 days, and it doesn't burn on the atomizer. I eyeballed the catridge cut off a piece that seemed to be the size of the catridge and the width, and stuffed it in with paperclip (it was slightly wider than the cartridge but I was able to stuff it in), to fill it can do both fill with liquid first and stuff it in, or drop in and move the puff around with paperclip, till it soaks up all the liquid. I'm not sure if it affects taste, as I ordered my Juice from Johnsons Creek and it hardley has any taste compared to the sample pack I ordered, but it vapes well, compared to the samples that clogs my atomizers..lol

Here is a quote from the Ruyan patent application about the original cores:

"The atomization is constantly supplied by the one hundred percent polyester fiber core that has been filled with the specially formulated liquid that wicks the wire mesh bridge"

Now this is why I enjoy this forum. Thanks for posting that, as I had always wondered what the core was made of.

Finally tried Pyramid Tea Bags for filler a few weeks ago, have been very happy with them ever since. After trying polyfill and Fluval, this is the best so far for sure. The poly and Fluval worked OK, but I was always hoping to find something better. Much as I tried to get the right size with the other fillers, it was a pain and seemed like I couldn't keep the atty on it...had to play around too much.

The PTB is so easy to make, and I have around 30 carts that I fill every weekend for the wife and I both to use all week. The take plenty of juice, always maintain contact with the atty and most carts last me between 3 and 5 hours of consistent vaping while I'm on the road working.

The taste is also very clean, which I was looking for since the other fillers sometimes gave an odd taste.

Cool thing is we drink tea all the time, so we didn't waste the actual tea...and it's hardly expensive considering how many fillers you can get out of one box of 20 bags.

I recommend this to anyone who's looking for a better filler, look for the video on making the pieces for the carts. It's very helpful, but it's also very easy once you start doing it.

Someone suggested tea bags and I tried them with my penstyle and I liked the draw. The only thing I didn't like was so much of the juice was left behind when I squeezed the used bag. I have a lot of used juice I squeezed and wonder if it is okay to reuse. It's darker than it originally was.

I recently got a Dura C. Is that the old 510 or equal? Trying to find something that works well and doesn't have a lot of waste or can be squeezed and reused.

Comments? about reusing?

Comments on what has been used in the Dura C and works well?

What does PTB stand for? If tea bags, why them? And where can I buy them?

Lots of questions but would appreciate any help.

Thanks! Bug

Have you continued to use it and what do you think about it? Do you know what a buff puff is made of? Generic one/do you know the name of the brand/product? Is it the same? Thanks for any help.

I cut a strip twice as thick as the cart, rolled it up, stuck it in and cut off the excess. Then opened a hole in the middle and stuck the polyfill back in and filled it up. The sheets are only coated, not woven with the softener. I found no after taste, more vapor and more vaping time. If you really concerned about chemicals, wash the sheet with plain soap and hot water first and then dry it out. I find it funny that about the negative comments here are concerned about inhaling chemicals since most were analog smokers to begin with. How many chemicals were you inhaling all those years smoking cigarettes? 4000+? Now all of sudden your health conscience?

Yes, concerned. How do you know the softener isn't harming your lungs in a different way that cause lung damage. We know about analogs, using ecigs to keep that crap out of out lungs, but we don't know what other chemicals or ingredients could cause much harm. I say, don't use anything but pure or clean of any chemicals, etc.

I googled them and it says they are made of Polyurethane Binder, Polyester Fiber. Now to find out how the binder can cause any problems.

I went here from googling polyurethane and clicked on coatings and adhesives. It also has info on propylene glycols.

Coatings and Adhesives

Now I am concerned again about the PG being inhaled.

Yes I have continued to use it. I like it very much. What I have found was this. I have to fill the whole cartridge with it. I have the Dragon M401, without any filler material it holds 10-11 drops of liquid. I cut a piece twice as wide and twice as long (I'm still playing with thicknesses). Gently roll it between your fingers to the size of the cartridge and get the edge in the cartridge. Then use paperclip to stuff the rest in to the bottom. Cut the puff flush with the edge of the cartridge. You can put a few drops in and it will soak it up a bit. I have to move the puff around a bit with the paperclip and keep putting drops in, it will still hold 10-11 drops of liquid even with the puff in it. The taste does change when you have vaped almost all the liquid out of it. The puff doesn't burn on the atomizer, but once I notice the taste change I add more liquid. I've been using a generic brand that only cost $.99. Sometimes when I put the ecig down I put it at an incline or upright so it will help the liquid come down to the end. I did a search of Material Data Sheets for Buff Puff, they are made by 3M. That will tell you what they are made of. It doesn't state anything about if they are heated. They will burn and melt if you light with a flame. I haven't found it to burn or melt on the atomizers, just keep the puff moist. The generic brand I bought says this on the package.

You can't buy stuff from it anyway it just tells you where to buy. I guess I found this one at KMart (looking at price tag), coulda swore I found it at Stop and Shop. Oh well. They all seem to be the same material.

I've found that if I use good old polyfiber with the straw mod in my carts (901) I get double the vape time per fill. I was tired of my juice tasting nasty after just a little vaping and was constantly topping off my cart. I tried the straw mod in a cart I had set aside to top off. I put it in and didn't top it off and I swear I puffed on that same cart for another 45 mins off and on! It also pulls ALL the juice up before It starts to taste funky. Now I just wish these little batteries lasted longer....I ordered the 801 and cant wait to try that.

Just reading through this has anyone tried using poly and teabags(would help retain shape of the bag)? like maybe stretch a very small amount over the teabag material before rolling it? just an idea may not work...

I think there is mention of doing that in this thread somewhere....sounds like a good idea though.

i have tried these filters and they left a funny taste that is (to me) worse than the burned taste of the atty or the taste of the primer liquid and no matter what i do i can't get that taste out of the atty. maybe i did something wrong but it just did not work for me

Has anyone tried using the material from say a roll your own filter?

Great idea. I will be trying that tonight. It's worth a shot.

Thank you Blueyefox for being so detailed and helpful. For that little price, it's worth trying.

I find no matter what I've tried, it gets that odd taste near the end. One reason I'm trying to find something that holds more juice. The original cart fillers don't.

Have a great day!
