I just received the Ego Twist variable voltage battery, my first VV device.

My question is this...what's the best way to use the VV feature to provide maximum flavor, would it be a low resistance cartomizer with the voltage dialed down or a standard/high resistance carto with the voltage dialed up, I'm using the Vision Ego Stardust clearos. Thanks gang.

I've been using my new Twist for about a week or so, and just got my Ego Elegance Clearomizers (same thing as yours, just a different name) several days ago. I got the Standard Resistance 2.5 ohm ones, and so far, with the 3 different juices I've put through the clearo, I've gotten the best vape in the 3.8 to 4.2 range....it seems like if I go any higher than that it's approaching a burnt taste. I have some LR ones on their way to me now, so I'll be able to fiddle with those this weekend and see which I like better. I'm loving the clearos so much that I haven't even tried a carto with my new Twist yet, have you?

I've stopped using anything with poly fill material, strictly Stardust nowadays.

I have a feeling the higher resistance rated Stardust might produce better flavor running at 4.2+ volts, don't know why I think that...just gonna have to pick up a 2.6+ ohm unit and give it a try. I did get a slightly burnt flavor running above 4.2 volts on a 1.8 ohm clearo...Bobas Bounty.

I've got a few different VV devices and always run BB at a bit lower voltage than my other juices. On some hardware I don't think the thick VG wicks fast enough and gives a burnt taste sometimes. On hardware that doesn't seem to have a wicking issue the juice seems to taste better dialed down a bit than the other juices run.

There really isn't a "best" resistance/voltage combination bc every juIce is different. Tobacco juices can generally handle slightly higher voltages without tasting burnt. But most fruit flavors generally need a slightly lower voltage to taste the best bc it doesn't take much to kill the flavor of a fruit juIce and make it taste burnt.
One juice you have might really shine at 4.5V with a 3.0ohm carto, but another could taste burnt at the same voltage/resistance combination.
Your best bet is to use a 3.0ohm single coil carto and that will allow you to use the entire range of voltages.

with all the different style/type of carto out there today, i would presume the answer is not found in the APV, nor the juice even, but in the cartomizer.
In other words, which cartomizer gives the best / most flavor ?
I have recently come to the conclusion, as a confirmed dripper, that APV's today are merely power delivery devices, and it's the atomizer that makes any difference.
First rule of vaping is to match resistance (Ohms) to power (volts/watts) correctly as you know by your post.
The only difference is in the carto or atty design.
Some say best flavor is from the Genesis atomizer or the GG rebuildables, which are the two types i kmow.
But what brought me to this discovery (lightbulb moment) was the HH357 atomizer, which imo takes vaping to a whole new level because of taste/flavor being optimized like nothing I've vaped in my 2 yrs of searching for that "best vape".

Like rob said taste is subjective to your pallate, the carto you use and the consistancy of your power output on your device. I have a juice that I love that is AMAZING in a boge 3.0 at 5.6 but horrible in a 2.8 clearo at the same voltage. That is the great part about using a vv device is you can find your sweet spot for the juice you use.
