Yours is the third recommendation for the Fiskar’s brand!
I’m really appreciating all the ideas!
My wife was a seamstress and Fiskar's was the only brand she would buy. And you never used her sewing shears to cut paper or anything that wasn't cloth.

I will never forget the time when I was a kid I used my mom’s sewing scissors for paper. I learned my lesson that day that sewing scissors are sacred!

Bought a small pair of Fiskars scissors while on a trip in Alaska in 2000. I needed a hair trim and my hairdresser friend who was part of our group and would do the trim, recommended I get them. They were $9 up there then. They have no model # on them, but their overall total length is 4 7/8". Just the blades are 2" from the screw that holds them together to the end of their very pointy sharp tips. They're still super sharp after all these years using them for cutting all kinds of things...including wicks (cotton for a year or so, then rayon from then on). I highly recommend them.

Chels, sorry I don't have a code for Coil Clout. I did buy a pair of their wire snips. They are excellent with all wire types.

As for scissors...

I have this surgical pair a veterinarian friend gave us years ago. They are super sharp and very pointy for detailed and close trimming.

Also bought this pair of Dr. Slick Tungsten Carbide Scissors a while back. They are also very sharp and pointy. See Ange's link above.

Both cut through thick CottonMan cottons (corded or strip) and rayon very easily.

Nothing beats sharp blades. If you already have a pair of scissors you like that have gotten dull you could always sharpen them or take them to a pro for sharpening.

:)

ETA: Quality scissors that will last you are not cheap. My wife was a professional groomer and had many scissors.

I just find that my small scissors smash the cotton quite a bit before cutting. And the cut is not always clean, which is why I’m looking to upgrade :)
Likely because the blades are dull.

ETA: Like any other tool scissors should be maintained and kept clean. You'll get longer life.

Yet another vote for Fiskars! So far I have 2 different types in my Amazon cart. Since it’s free shipping and returns, I’m ordering 2 or 3 and keeping the best pair

Ain’t that the truth! My cousin is a hairdresser and has scissors that are over $100!! I think I’ll throw a pair of surgical scissors in the cart and try those as well. Thanks for the reply!

don't ask me, I just use some miniature hairdressing scissors that came free with hair clippers I bought years ago. Work just fine for me
not an expert on scissors so I wrote hairdressing scissors, but after having a look online, they look like small beard/mustache trimming scissors. Google showed some fancy ones as well, might be worth looking into

@PeterKay, in the UK you should most definitely find a high quality pair of scissors for less than £50 with shipping.

I do like the idea of medical scissors, but they're a little more niche market items. So it's finding a supplier and not using Amazon or Ebay, just to assure that you get what you want.

50£ would be more than than the mod I'm currently rocking (aegis max), I'm not sure if I'm ready for such vaping accessories upgrade :D
